New "Mom's to Be" Thread!

Quick question: How long did you spot (if you did) after your internal exam? I didn't have anything until late last night and now there is a little more today.

I think every Dr. is different in the way they do their exams. That first one at 35 weeks was very painful, and I was sore and spotted for 2 days. (And she told me that I would, and not to worry.) The next one was nothing- didn't hurt at all and no spotting- and was with a different doctor. Then when I saw the 35 week Dr. again, it hurt again.

I didn't see true "bloody show" until my water broke. (39 weeks, 2 days)

I'm a mom :cool1:

Bodie Dean arrived early on February 12th at 5:07 AM. My water had broke the morning before and they decided to induce me at midnight since I wasn't going into labour on my own. After 5 hours of labour and a scary cord around the neck /HR drop incident, they used forceps to pull him out. Thankfully my little guy was in great shape...he weghed exactly 7 pounds and was 20 inches long.

I'm absolutely exhausted and a bit overwhelmed, but I'm so completely in love with him. I'll post pictures of Bodie as soon as I can.

:cool1: :cool1: Congrats!!! I can't wait to see pics. :goodvibes

Funny- Grayson was 20 inches long and almost 2 lbs. heavier than Bodie at birth! I guess I have a chunky monkey and you have a skinny mini :rotfl:

princess pooh, Congrats!!! I can't wait to see pictures.

Abigail is just a cutie. :cutie:

Rebecca, I have only had one exam but little mucous (no color) came. This has happened every so often, but it's not much. My doctors have only wanted to know if it was bloody.

I am 38 weeks today and his head is still pretty high up. I had a non stress test again and he was being lazy. They had to put an alarm clock on my stomach to wake him up. They did an ultrasound to check fluid levels (ok) and my blood pressure was a little elevated. I have another appointment scheduled for Monday. Unless of course, he decides to come on his own (yeah right). They are calling for snow and lots of ice, so I think it's ok if he decides to wait a few days.

Thanks...that makes me feel better :goodvibes My exam didn't hurt at all so I think that is why the spotting took me off guard.

If you think Bodie was skinny, Dom was even worse. 20 inches long and 6 pounds 5 oz. He's still skinny for his height.

Congratulations on Bodie! I cannot wait to see the pictures of him! Dom too had the cord around his neck and we had suction to get him out. Scary things, but so worth it in the end. I hope your recovery goes well

Congratulations, Princess Pooh! I noticed you hadn't posted lately so I wondered if you'd had the baby.

Rebecca~ I spotted after a couple of the internals with my dd as well. They were not painful for me either so the spotting caught me off guard. My dr. said it is completely normal though. It's been nearly 3 years since then so I can't remember exactly how long it lasted but I'm thinking less than 24 hours maybe. The spotting was the worst at the 1st exam and I think I spotted a little at the 2nd and I didn't spot at all during the exams after that (and I had several since I went past my due date with her).

Congratulations Princess Pooh! :)

Dh let me order a bunch of stuff for the baby the other night: stroller, car seat, pack n play, swing and high chair. I ordered everything in the Graco Milan pattern. Can't wait to get it in!!

Also I'm looking for some Peter Pan stuff for the nursery. Anyone know of anything other than just Tinkerbell stuff?

Dom is on zantac and OMG, is he a totally different child on it. He loves to smile, play, and have fun in general! He went from a "fussy" child on the nice end to the fun sweet boy he is now! His was more of the silent type so we had spit ups, but it wasn't the weight loss and massive messes that others deal with. The only bad thing about zantac is you need to keep upping the dose as they grow.
]

Amanda isn't really a fussy baby.. really only when she is hungry (and not getting fed fast enough), or if she has gas/trying to poop! The reflux isn't that bad, but is certainly noticeable. I'm guessing that if the zantac helps, she'll be a total dream baby.. sleeps at night and all!! :cool1:

Congrats, princess pooh! Owen was a forcepts delivery, too, when his heart rate dropped suddenly and didn't come back up. Hope you are recovering well.

Owen's 2 month appt had some bad news for us - he's lost weight again (we'd suspected maybe something like that was up), and we've got 2 weeks of intensive nursing every 3 hours, then giving him a bottle of pumped milk. So I get to nurse him for 40 min. (20 min each side), then give him a bottle of at least 2 oz milk pumped previously, then pump for 20 min. :headache: So it adds up to over an hour of feeding/pumping, and I MUST do this every 3 hours for the next 2 weeks to see if his weight loss is an intake issue. If he gains good weight by the next appt, then we'll have to figure out what to do to make sure he eats enough. If he doesn't gain weight, then it's on to blood work and more tests. :guilty:

So I'm stressed and worried and so terribly tired I don't know what to do. Plus Owen doesn't sleep well unless he's being held. Sometimes we can get him to nap in his cradle if he's propped on his side, sometimes he'll sleep in the swing, but usually he has to be held. He does have a strong neck, so I've suggested to DH that we try him on his tummy, but DH isn't comfortable with it yet. We'll see...mommy is the one doing all the feeding work and not getting sleep, so mommy might just try it anyway because I'm so worn out and desperate I'll try anything at this point.

It's hard to not blame myself for Owen's weight loss. I keep going around and around with what might possibly be wrong with how I'm nursing him that he's not gaining enough. :sad2:

 Everything will be okay. I know it is hard, but this too, shall pass.

All right...it is about that time.

Time to order Maternity Clothes. My youngest is 5 and I have NOTHING.

Though she has a mild case, the doc is putting her on Zantac for reflux. Thankfully, she gave her a show during the exam (and she had eaten a little over an hour earlier!). If this Zantac works, I think I may have the most content little baby in the world!

HollyJoy

Abigail went on Zantac and it has a really strong peppermint flavor . . . if you get flavoring for the syrup, the only thing that will work is grape and it still doesn't taste that great.

The crazy thing . . . Abigail takes Mylicon drops without a problem, but Zantac, she fights us tooth and nail!

So far, so good! She doesn't seem to mind the peppermint flavor... holding out hope that it continues! lol

we had the same problem trying to find peter pan, but my sister found us a couple of pictures on allposters.com.you might want to check it out.

allposters.com and art.com are great (same company, same prices, etc). We ended up finding the photos for our nursery there as well!

i'm sure she'll be fine! Dom cried when he first had to take it, but now he doesn't seem to mind at all. I still feel sorry for him. I tried it the first time a few days ago, and man is it nasty! A friend of mine said that she does think it helped her DS get used to stronger flavors later in life.
Truthfully the grape flavor IMO, is much worse than the peppermint, so I wouldn't worry about trying to add. I know some have cherry, but I haven't seen what that is like (yep I do taste Dom's meds... I think it is only fair ;))

Bethany  I am so sorry you are going through all that. I hope they can find out what the cause is. I know you don't know the cause, but my family has a small history of not producing much milk. It was hard for me at first, but I realize formula is best for Dom since we know he will grow. I was formula fed exclusively and I wound up only missing 5 days of school through HS and never had an antibiotic given to me

All women who will be having a baby in their life should see this.

Ricki Lake is the executive producer.
She made the movie after having an emotionally and physically scarring birth with her first child. She went on to have a totally different non medicalized birth with her second. I swear her and I share the same story. I am not going to get up on my soap box and preach but do at least watch the trailer.
I don't think the movie is playing in any big theatres but if you do hear of it coming for a special presentation in your city.....please give it some thought.

YEA PRINCESS POOH!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!

I can remember a time when you were the FIRST one to congratulate me on my pregnancy! AND LOOK AT US NOW...NEARLY A YEAR LATER SINCE IT HAPPENED!! :cool1: Mommyhood is great! ENJOY IT LADY!!!!
