New mommy help needed!!!!!!!

I have heard this too. Something about the proteins and fats in the milk, etc. I think. :scratchin

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert. I'm just recalling my own personal experience. Nothing is set in stone. :wave2:

It's more like your body syncs itself. Like right now your body is still getting used to the changes; dramatic change in hormones, producing milk and adjusting the supply to meet the needs of the baby. Switching the composition of the milk you are producing. Stuff like that. Leaking is like a side effect of all that.

I just remember my body getting used to nursing and somehow I just didn't leak like in the beginning. But man if I heard a baby crying in a store or something, I'd feel my milk let down and leak a little. It was not any major leakage like in the beginning, however I may have had to change my shirt.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the potential for leakage was always there.

This makes sense. I know every woman is different, but it's nice to know that the leaking could possibly dwindle down to not much or anything at all!! I have been trying the milk and the lansinoh and last night felt much better than yesterday afternoon, so hopefully that combo is really helping.

Totally. I think the antibodies too. Google "breastmilk uses" and you'll be amazed.
My DS got 2nd or 3rd (can't remember) degree burns on his head (he was 10 months old and walked between me ad the counter when I was transfering pasta from a strainer back to the pan for buttering and some REALLY hot water got him before I could react). The DR said to use neosporin and whatever but that stuff is sticky and messy and I figured it would hurt when applying. Some breastmilk a few times and day and not even a scar. Another time he fell off a step on a porch onto a driveway...(this was about a month before the water.. if the kid didn't start walking so early, maybe he'd have been safer...) and his face got all scratched up. Breastmilk to the rescue again LMAO No infections, no scars.

No other injuries before or since. I contemplated putting him in a padded suit.

Congrats on the baby. I used the Kotex pads with the cottony soft cover, the Always irritated the sensitive are a little. I had quite a few stitches. Hope this helps:flower3:

You just can't beat those throw away undies and the HUGE pads they give you at the hospital. Didn't they tell you to take everything in the room (exc the bed LOL) with you when you left? They just chuck it anyway. I didn't need to actually buy anything after I had my kids :-)
I'd go with overnight pads that have wings and shop at a discount store for some cheap irregular undies
Congrats on the baby!

Loved the undies. I was going to post that also. They were great and free after insurance of course since they were listed on my bill.:rotfl2:

And don't miss a feeding while shopping even if baby is sleeping if you aren't wearing nursing pads. When ds was a month old dh and I were shopping with dd for shoes and it took forever well I felt the let down and bam bulls eyes on my dark shirt. It was awful. I laugh now but then.
Another memory, when I had dd I didn't know about leakage at all. She was nursing from one side and the other side was running like a faucet. I wasn't watching her nurse because I was laying on my side and daydreaming I guess. I looked down and I thought my poor baby was going to drown. Her head was soaking wet.

I've always used Kotex Overnight Super pads - I don't know what they are really called LOL - but they are the longest and most absorbency LOL.

Me too. If your having breastfeeding questions please go to www.kellymom.com
I lucked out with a wonderful breastfeeding experience :thumbsup2 Congrats on your princess! I wanted to add I dont leak.. I never have. I'm sure it will stop or dwindle as your body regulates itself.

Congrats on you new Baby princess: .

Starwatcher: What kind of Poise pads did you use? Thanks.

Congratulations!!

Did not read all of the other posts but after the birth of my first son, I could not stand sitting on a maxi pad so I sent my husband out to purchase depend undergarments.

Worked wonders!!!

Good! I'm happy for you!

It must have been frightening when that happened. Some kids are just more clumsy than others.

OMG! It's body temp so you don't feel it right away! Funny story!
