New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

I think if this was $84 or whatever the party was last year, a lot of the people on here saying it's ridiculous would have already bought tickets.
The only way we would have bought tickets, even at $80, is if we wanted a 5 day vacation. We get armed forces salute tickets which are only 4 days, and can't be upgraded or added to. An $80 7 hr event would be cheaper than buying a full day ticket. We've done this with the Halloween party in the past.

Aside from that, nope..would not buy this to add on to a day I was already spending in the parks, even at $80.

@HopperFan i know you can't share details (and I am not asking you to) but did you hear more specifics than is mentioned in the official release? Because last night I read posts you made that there is a lot more to this but it seems pretty much like what was already leaked (just some Icecrrsm and water/soda thrown in). Just curious if there may be additional features warranting the $150 price tag hat haven't been released yet. Otherwise this sounds just like the free DVC parties they had in Feb/Mar except those had special fireworks too.

If this thread were actually representative of people going to the parks, we'd be in there alone for the extra 3 hours, making it completely worth it!

however we all know that's not true. So.

Disney has made it clear they don't want people on a budget in the parks. There's no requirement that they have to be subtle about it.

Ok now it's announced ;)

I won't be attending, but these will sell out no problem.

The dates are all Thursday's in April and May, right?
I wonder why the last Thursday in May, the 26th, is not included.

I've never been on a party night, so have no frame of reference. If you're there as a day guest, how crowded does it get in those last few "overlap" hours? So if I'm there on a night when they're letting people in at 7:00 for this new thing, and they haven't yet started kicking day people out, is it going to get really busy? Those night time hours can be nice when people are watching the last fireworks and heading out and ride lines are getting shorter. I'm guessing that won't happen on these nights now???

This is total, complete, 100% me guessing - isn't that Memorial Day Weekend? 24 hour event, possibly, on Friday!?

The friday of memorial day weekend has been a 24 hour event for some time now - I'm guessing they're going to keep that or risk pissing off people who booked for that weekend.

The people I know who aren't on these boards, who aren't disney lovers, would never pay this. TBH, if some of them heard about it, I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear them say they just won't go to WDW at all.

That's what I was thinking. I also saw elsewhere (not on this thread) someone asking about parade/night time show times being different for that day. I think FOF was scheduled for 12 PM or something like that. So that would make sense.

Word on the street is that there won't be one this year.

Somebody's buying all those party tickets. I wouldn't be surprised if those same people go for this, especially as details get fleshed out. The released information reeks of "we have to release something now" for an event that wasn't fully planned yet.

Party tickets have added value in the form of shows, fireworks, and parades (for less than the price of a single day ticket). And not everyone who goes then can go now as well. People who travel to Disney more than once a year are a distinct minority.
