New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

Because so far this has been released by only ONE blogger. Honestly I think the only reason people are giving him credibility is he has dates and a price.

The minute it was tweeted out DS texted his good friend [MK Fantasyland evening management] and she has heard nothing about it, no announcements, no change in their hours, no rumors, nothing. And she has an important job at the end of the night so I was surprised. She usually knows stuff a decent amount of time in advance.

Good to know ... and btw- I didn't mean meaning that I expected details to be known at this time, just that it would be the details that would drive if $149 was worth it or not

definitely seems to be aimed at the guests not staying on property who are not getting EMH already. For someone off property, a $150 for an empty park is definitely a nice option. You are paying $100 for a day ticket and wont get to ride everything once.

CHIP & COMPANY POSTED THIS - not much different but says tickets go on sale April 6th.

If you have ever stayed in a Disney resort hotel, you are familiar with the extra benefits that come with doing that, such as having access to Extra Magic Hours. Extra Magic Hours allow a Disney Resort guest into the park for an additional extended time before or after other guests staying offsite, making it an added free bonus to staying onsite when you visit Walt Disney World.

However, Disney has just changed the game with an announcement that a new paid after hours event called “Disney After Hours” will be available for purchase.

With “Disney After Hours,” guests buy a ticket and get access to The Magic Kingdom for three hours after the park closes, including select attractions and meet & greets.

Tickets go on sale April 6th for select dates in April and May only. Dates of the events are April 14th, 21st, 28th, and May 5th, 8th, 12th, & 19th. Tickets are $149 plus tax each for children or adults. At that price, we imagine the parks won’t be very crowded, and lines will be much shorter!

It would be cheaper than the VIP Tours. At it's lowest it's $400 per hour. So 3 x $400 = $1200. I'll go with a big family of 6, they are still saving $300. There will be people who will pay it. Will it be considered a sellout/success ...... :confused3 but if this is legit I guess we will see.
6 hour minimum.

I just want to see the announcement.

How will this affect those dates? I have a one day only @MK planned with FP for mine train already chosen. We can't switch to other days bc our FP and ADRS are already reserved ... If those dates are right, my whole plan just blew up in my face. Especially if I have to leave early and dont get to see the MSEP/WISHES.

Planning so far ahead is frustrating but can be so rewarding, so I do it. But planning so far ahead and then have Disney change things on me, and basically make my hours and hours of hard work go out the window? That's just frustrating.

6 hour minimum.

Understand. It's actually 7 hours - " ...a minimum duration of 7 continuous hours..."

I was using the hourly rate as a comparison to the 3 hours they are offering at the party.

Yikes, 7 hours now? Used to be 6, no?

If ya think about it though people will pay for it. Remember villians soiree making halloween party be about $200 where people bought it without even KNOWING what it was? Or the premium food and wine for $200 that came with no details at release? People will pay for anything!

Guilty of the Soiree, but it wasn't for the first night and cancellation was allowed, so my plan was to cancel if the reviews were not good. I was glad I booked it because it was sold out for our night by the time the reviews came out. I have to admit that one was a memorable event and I am not one bit sorry I spent the money on it. The characters were fantastic and the desserts were great. DD still talks about it and was sad they did not have it last year- although my wallet wasn't sad that it wasn't a repeat thing. I was tempted, but I didn't buy in to the food and wine thing(partly was because it was the same year as the soiree) and was glad I hadn't spent the money on that one. Wasn't even tempted by it last year.

I have to admit that IF this was some type of VERY special party with some sort of abbreviated villains soiree type event (to leave time for rides), food and drink, a meet and greet with Robin Hood, and a guaranteed limited number of people such that it was virtually ensured that every ride would be absolutely walk on, I MIGHT be tempted. Short of that, I don't think even my impressionable self can be suckered into this one. I wonder if they are talking about a one day ticket for non resort guests giving them access to EMH? It would make more sense if the price factored into the full day too, but with packages with tickets, it doesn't really work for resort guests that way. Guess we will have to wait and see.

I don't understand this.
Anyone know what Disney is trying to do?
I never really understood how they kicked non resort guests out of the park during evening EMH either. How will they know if younpaid the extra $$ or not.
Is this a party or just paying for extended hours?

I'm not going to lie, I briefly considered this as a birthday gift for my oldest son whose birthday falls during those dates, but until more information (and most importantly confirmation) becomes available I'm not going to dwell on it. Hopefully this includes an earlier entry than park closing similar to the parties.

Some of you that have been going to WDW for years...wasn't there a paid after hours event before EMH?

Yes you are right...before EMH we paid to stay in the MK for 3 extra hours....I think it was about 13 years ago....my daughter was 11 or 12...at the time

You have to scan your magic band to enter attractions during EMH.
