New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

I wasn't talking about Halloween or Christmas parties.
Harambe Nights was $119 (2 years ago)
Club Villain is $129
Totally within expectation to see them charge $149 for this. Whether or not it's worth it depends on details.
I do know I've yet to be disappointed with a ticketed event.

I think that is the key. From all reviews I read Club Villain was considered worth it due to amazing entertainment, client interaction (which was scheduled and everyone got tons of time with the characters) all inclusive food and drinks, including alcohol

So what are the details of this? If it is literally the park is open for 3 more hours and nothing else added, then that's pretty crummy ... but if it is tons of rare characters that you have no trouble/lines meeting and tons of food included in the price and a special fireworks and/or parade or something - then I could see people doing it and treating it like a party

I was thinking the same thing. My guess is this is a trial to see how it goes. If it is a success, then I think we can kiss EMH good bye. Just another way to get people to pay for what used to be included in your resort stay. If this does get rid of EMH, I will definitely be staying offsite from here on out, it is the last of the perks that cause us to consider onsite.

WDW: "Hey, now we're charging you $15 more/night for hotel resort fees."
Guest: "Well, that's OK, because we still get in for EMH."
WDW: "Um, yeah...about that...."

It would be cheaper than the VIP Tours. At it's lowest it's $400 per hour. So 3 x $400 = $1200. I'll go with a big family of 6, they are still saving $300. There will be people who will pay it. Will it be considered a sellout/success ...... :confused3 but if this is legit I guess we will see.

That's a good comparison. So for my family of four, we would pay $400 an hour for the VIP Tour, $100 per hour per person. This would be $200 an hour for $50 an hour per person.

Assuming that the ride access is the same, it could start to look like a good value against that tour anyway.

The number of tickets they sell will be the determining factor.

The cynic in me...
Maybe in the cost is a "gift", like a cheesy blanket or something.
They MIGHT have one, maybe two rare characters, but the rest will be just the standard fare.
Maybe a "special" cupcake or other dessert (For a fee, of course) and zero booze. It's the MK after all.

It's worth to me is the additional things offered. If it's rides alone, even we would pass. But we don't do EMH anyway.
But if they have some additional things included it would become very appealing to us.
So I'm not writing it off but I'm not quite ready to order tickets either.

I think people would pay it if they could be assured of having a nearly empty park. Not sure what assurance they'd have though.

MK has, on a regular basis, served alcoholic beverages at private parties, including a few that were open to the public to book.

Because so far this has been released by only ONE blogger. Honestly I think the only reason people are giving him credibility is he has dates and a price. (and someone posted on another forum but their source was "heard at work."

The minute it was tweeted out DS texted his good friend [MK Fantasyland evening management] and she has heard nothing about it, no announcements, no change in their hours, no rumors, nothing. And she has an important job at the end of the night so I was surprised. She usually knows stuff a decent amount of time in advance.

Magic Kingdom is open until midnight on May 5. So does this mean the "party" goes from 12am-3am?
That or hours will be changed. Considering they changed EMH for Epcot and HS just this weekend for a few nights in April it wouldn't be a surprise to see them change the park hours for these dates.

This sounds crazy to me, but at least for now it's only 6 dates that all have a regular close of 10 or 11 PM. Still, if it leads to a cutback on EMH, especially in light of potential resort fees (of course those are not official...yet) this is a real bummer for onsite stayers.

This is an editorial quibble:

Don't put in your blog post "Disney has announced" when Disney has done no such thing. Guess we'll find out soon if it's really a thing.

ETA: With no further details. The numbers just aren't adding up. 3 hours for more than the cost of a full day during peak season?

Well, there is this post, so maybe not a surprise to everyone? I don't read the rumor thread regularly so not sure how much it's come up there.

This has been rumored for a little bit now. Not surprising to me at this point.

Wow, I'm shocked. $150 is twice the price of the parties. They are going to have to make it very special for me to even consider this option. I can justify the Christmas and Halloween parties, but this is over the top.

I had only seen a person on wdwmagic report it and now wdwnt is reporting it so it is picking up traction. I'm guessing it's likely now.

I don't think a paid EMH event has come up over there as a regular discussion, but there is often talk that EMH may fade away since they seem less and less.

I have only seen this event mentioned in two places this week, and it was not on DIS.
