New Military Discount???

ok Im confused but what else is new...so the ticket discount is 4 days for $135 or $165..but Im going for 7 days so I pay $165 for 4 days through the military discount and then buy 3 day hopper for $307 from the SOG site?????? or I just pay $328 for a 7 day hopper through the SOG site...so where is the discount?? to me I pay more money with the new discount..am I not understanding something?

Along with what Ash&Wes07 posted, if you do NOT need or want the WPM option then make sure you don't order the Stars & Stripes tickets available at SOG (Which is what prices you have listed). Its cheaper to just get a 7 day PH from SOG or your MWR, then to purchase the Stars & Stripes, if your not wanting to do WPM.

If you are wanting WPM then you can buy the Military Salute for $165 and get 4 days of parks with park hopping and 4 days at the water parks etc, so that is a total of 8 days.

Hope that makes sense.

It makes sense but I think we only wanted one water park day...sooooo confusing!!! Its a discount but not really

As of about ten minutes ago there was still noting about a new Armed Forces Salute on the internal ticketing site.

However, there was a post from September 30 for a 25% discount on Cirque du Soleil good through September 26, 2011. All four categories. Military Guests may purchase for themselves and up to five guests. May only be purchased at the box office within 14 days prior to the show. Block-out dates December 21 thru January 1. No shows Sundays and Mondays.

Its a huge discount if you are ok with only going to the parks for 4 days, because a 4 day PH ticket through SOG is $282 and a 4 day PH and WPM is $336... Not such a great deal if you're wanting to go to the parks for more then 4 days.

and there lies our problem...MH wants one water park day not 3.

Yup. That is our problem, too.

We are debating on whether or not we'll even use the AFS tickets, or if we'll just get Season Passes. We have our GAD ticket to upgrade, so either way we're saving a little bit of money.

I have to decide if one day we just don't go to the parks in the AM and use our MVMCP ticket as our "park ticket" starting at 4pm. Then we'd technically have 5 days in the park using the AFS ticket + the party ticket.

Decisions, decisions.

Actually, they could be upgraded to Annual/Premium Passes and FL resident Seasonal passes as well. They can not be upgraded to longer MYW tickets, though.

You are correct. However, the value of the Salute ticket toward your upgrade was exactly what you paid for it. So there was no discount on the AP.

Just got off the phone with the Cast Member, they are a lil behind with the information, but give them a break it just offically came out today. The information they are being told is that this is an offer for Oct. through Dec. ONLY, again prolly just some mis information.

I have read alot about ppl saying 4 days is not enough and I agree with that statement, however I would like to offer this suggestion. We are going durring a MVMCP and we now plan on buying tickets for that event. Even with adding the MVMCP event we are saving over $100pp and we still get 5 days in the park. Just a suggestion to everyone out there!

That is what I am doing to make my trip stretch to 5 days, buy a MVMCP ticket. I wonder if they will be offering a discount for the party like they did last year??

Just heard from someone who called and they told her the military discount isn't available yet, but is coming...when, I wonder? I need it for the end of this month! Hope it works out!

I get so excited when I hear/read about Military Discount and realize you are all talking about Florida.

Thanks . . .

forgive me is this is just a silly question. We are going in Feb. we have three rooms, b/c we have 6 kids. My dad who is retired military is coming and since we wanted to stay at a value resort we could only fit 4 per room, so dad got his own room. Now with this new possible discount we could apply the %30 saving to his room AND get the military rate for his tickets? Also, and here's the big question, we are going for 8 days, so can dad buy TWO of the $135 tickets and use them back to back? Since we are getting free dining it doesn't make since for the rest of us to change our ressie, but it would sure be a help for dad if he could get these discounts.

Does anyone know if there is any kind of military discount for Disneyland?

It looks like maybe the DisneyLAND offer may only be good till Dec. 2010 according to militarydisneytips.

Thank you, Disboards!!!!

I hope this is correct, since my DH is military (reserves), and 4 days is nice!!! That would definitely save us some $$$.

What number is everyone calling? My friend just called the 800 Disney #, and she said they acted like she was crazy???

If I recall...when the Armed Forces Salute Ticket came out last year, it was announced to Military Personal prior to showing up on the Hub. It may be that the Hub has yet to be updated with this information since it is so new.

Yes, if he has an id card he could get 30%. In the past I've read about people using 2 tickets with no problems. This would be totally up to him to try. If he's going to do it, I suggest he buy them when he gets to WDW rather than at his base. If for some reason it's not allowed, then he won't be out the money from pre-purchasing tickets he can't use.

I believe Disney discontinued the 800 number a year or more ago. :confused3

Call 407-WDISNEY. That's the number I called. I called for other business about my current reservation, and she asked if I need tickets. That's when I said I was holding out for a military deal. She then read from her script of information. I would say if you get a CM that doesn't know anything about this, say thank you, and hang up and try again. If you can, it might be worth it to wait until all the systems, etc. get updated. Even the CM I spoke to commented on how those of us on the internet know more than they do. It seems Disney doesn't get the word out very well, sometimes.
