New Military Discount???

There is still nothing on The Hub. And that is the internal Disney site. The Ticketing section is where those of us who sell tickets and work in Guest Relations get our basic information. If it is not there, those of us who sell tickets do not have any knowledge. Since it is not there, anything is rumors.

And on another forum a couple of people have been told by call center people that the discounts are currently for the rooms, and they "expect" (conjecture) that there will be discounted tickets.

Saw this on miltarydisneytips:

Disney Land in Anaheim California

Offer Dates – 3 October 2010 – 31 December 2010
No purchase by date or block-out dates*

Resort Discounts – Grand Californian Resort $228, Disneyland Hotel $182.00, and the Palisades Pier Hotel $175.00 per night plus tax

Theme Park Ticket Discounts – Disneyland at this time reports no theme park ticket discounts.

Thank you!!! I was hoping someone on here knew the answer. Although it's not the answer I was hoping for. :sad1:

forgive me is this is just a silly question. We are going in Feb. we have three rooms, b/c we have 6 kids. My dad who is retired military is coming and since we wanted to stay at a value resort we could only fit 4 per room, so dad got his own room. Now with this new possible discount we could apply the %30 saving to his room AND get the military rate for his tickets? Also, and here's the big question, we are going for 8 days, so can dad buy TWO of the $135 tickets and use them back to back? Since we are getting free dining it doesn't make since for the rest of us to change our ressie, but it would sure be a help for dad if he could get these discounts.

Yes, if he has an id card he could get 30%. In the past I've read about people using 2 tickets with no problems. This would be totally up to him to try. If he's going to do it, I suggest he buy them when he gets to WDW rather than at his base. If for some reason it's not allowed, then he won't be out the money from pre-purchasing tickets he can't use.

I have a question along the same lines. My DH and I are going to WDW at the end of the month and plan to use the MS tickets. (I called this morning and got the resort discount changed on our ressie.) If we buy 4 tickets at the same time, can we use 2 for this trip and the other 2 for a later trip? I was looking at the possible restrictions on the Military Tips site and it says that all the tickets must be purchased at the same time, but do they all have to be used at the same time? I know we'll have to activate the two we are using on this trip together, but what about the other two? Could we save these for later?

Maybe I'm being a pessimist but I'd be very leery of booking a trip using a discount that isn't out and hasn't officially come from WDW yet. Don't get me wrong, a potential military discount, tickets or rooms, can possibly help my family next year and I know it will help a lot of our friends but I'm going to hold off alerting them about it until I see something "official".

I believe Disney discontinued the 800 number a year or more ago. :confused3

Call 407-WDISNEY. That's the number I called. I called for other business about my current reservation, and she asked if I need tickets. That's when I said I was holding out for a military deal. She then read from her script of information. I would say if you get a CM that doesn't know anything about this, say thank you, and hang up and try again. If you can, it might be worth it to wait until all the systems, etc. get updated. Even the CM I spoke to commented on how those of us on the internet know more than they do. It seems Disney doesn't get the word out very well, sometimes.

Thank you, I didn't think they had a 800 number either so not sure what my friend was refering to. I will tell her to try this number thanks!

If these tickets work at all like the ones last year, then the answer is YES! I purchased 5 tickets over at Shades of Green in June of last year (no tax when purchasing at SOG) but we only used 4 of them in June - went with my daughters. Then my husband and I went in September - he went to SOG to receive his free ticket (promotion last year) and I used the 5th ticket that I had purchased in June. It was pretty sweet considering that last year's promo was a 5-day hopper for $99 and for an extra $25 we could add Waterparks and more to the ticket. I think it was the first time I went to more than one water park during a trip since we could basically go each day if we really wanted to.

Thank you Cheshire Figment for keeping us updated! I guess those of us waiting for the Military ticket deals are still waiting! popcorn::

yes, he could get the discount added to his room and purchase two of the tickets and use them too!!:woohoo:

Sweet!! We used those 5 day tickets for our Disneymoon last year. Between DH's freebie and mine, we saved a bundle!

I went to the Base ticket office yesterday, but they knew nothing about this. So I called Central Ressies and spoke to a CM there who said they were told there was a delay in getting the tickets out to the Bases and to check back in a couple of days.

Not only is there nothing on The Hub about any special discounted tickets for the military, I looked in the Automated Ticketing System at work today in the level which had the Armed Forces Salute tickets in the past nd there was nothing there. These means that the system is currently unable to issue any Armed Forces Salute tickets.

If and when they do become available I will start a specific thread as well as update the sticky.

I j ust wanted to say Thanks for all the work you put into making sure the ticketing threads are so informative!

My husband is in the military, and last year we were able to get a 5 day park hopper including a water park for $150. This is nothing that Disney itself will advertise, it is something strictly through the military.

This was the 2009 Disney Armed Forces Salute and it was advertised by Disney. It was extended into 2010 with a few changes 4 days for $99 and an additional $25 for PH and/or WPM. And now we're all hoping they will extend it once again. :goodvibes

don't get me wrong for saying this, but by the time a formal announcement is made, it is quite possible all the rooms available for this offer will be gone! I was told I snagged the last one for the GF for the month I chose to attend! What harm could it do to book the room now and get the tickets later:confused3?

That is what I did as well. We can always figure out the ticket situation later if there is no military deal. :confused3

But, I can't see there NOT being one, especially since the CM's were giving out such detailed information on the first day regarding tickets and such. I am going to remain positive that there was just some silly glitch they need to work out and they'll announce it very soon.

They are obviously still booking the room rates, even though those aren't published anywhere yet. This makes me feel good about there being a military ticket deal as well.

No harm in it at all. I know that last year we had some friends that were told that they got one of the last AKL rooms on the day that it was officially announced so I know that rooms go fast. But I also know people that if they aren't going to get a really good deal on the tickets (i.e. special military tickets) that they would then cancel their trip.

Does anyone know what the dates are for the room offer? We are there Thanksgiving Day (Nov25th-Dec 2nd) Is this during the time that the roms are offered at the discount? Are there blackout dates?:confused3

DH called ITT today. They told him they have the tickets and have talked to Disney (idk what that means--just repeating what was said) and are now waiting for approval from the AF to sell them. They anticipate "soon". Again, idk what that means, but it sounds promising!

This sounds much more promising then what is being reported on MilitaryDisneytips blog! He saying that the tickets may not be released until Jan. 1, 2011 and good until Oct. 11, 2011!

I like what your DH heard much more! :rotfl:
