New Military Discount???

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed, for sure, but I guess I'll believe it when I see it. I think it's promising because at least they're aware of the promotion.

I don't see why they would be letting you book the military package w/out tickets if they were not going to offer any for the remainder of this year doesn't make much sense to me. I am really hoping that they do, otherwise switching my discoutn to military didn't do much to help me.

Does anyone know what the dates are for the room offer? We are there Thanksgiving Day (Nov25th-Dec 2nd) Is this during the time that the roms are offered at the discount? Are there blackout dates?:confused3

not sure of the dates, but your dates are covered for the discount, at least ours were if they are still available:goodvibes We will be there at the same time frame:woohoo:

Ugh I always get the worst CMs! I called and they put you through all the questions and then she quotes me rack rate for the room and tells me its the military rate. Grrrrr:confused3

I must say I am highly annoyed right now. I got all excited because the website I read said it was a press release and that the tickets were going ot be on sale before the year is out, in Oct. Now it is saying not til Jan. 1st. That is really frustrating b/c we can all get the 40% off discount, but I was really wishing for the discounted tickets.

Not complaining, I am glad that others will be able to use this discount, just wish I would have been able to use it in Dec. I also feel bad b/c I had the Disney TA transfer us to the military discount after I already had the 40% PIN for the AKL b/c I thought we were getting military tickets before the end of the year. So I have taken three rooms I didn't need. I apologize

So bad news, I just got off the phone with ticket agent at WDW. Apparently there was an email sent out that had details stating that the tickets were supposed to be on sale for the remainder of the year starting Oct. 3. She then got an email stating that the promotion had been pulled. The ticket agent stated that she believes that the mistake that caused the tickets to be pulled was the start date and that is why they are not available. She does not believe they will be available for the remainder of this year.

Can WE just get the park tickets or is this ONLY available when booking the room too??? Thanks

Hi...does anyone know if I can book with my daughter's MIL ID's? My two kids have MIL ID's (their father is in the service and is my ex-husband, thus, will not be on the trip nor am I a dependent of, obviously! haha!)

At least, can I get tickets at the discount price for them and can they then purchase, under their ID's, for myself?

I have called SOG before and they are eligible to stay there and buy tickets for themselves and others in our immediate family so I wonder if this Disney discount is about the same or if the actual service member has to be a part of the trip?

thanks for any insight!

We are going in March and are booked at SoG. Based on DH rank, we pay $131 per night, no tax. The best rate I can find at a Deluxe is at WL at $189 per night plus tax. We stayed at WL when it first opened. It was initially designed as a moderate. I have to say that if it were still priced as a moderate at a lower rate I might split my stay. After that one stay however, I would never consider it a deluxe. I prefer the rooms at SoG. The Yacht and Beach Club have availability but the lowest rate is $242 plus tax. To be honest, I like SoG. I used to wait until there was no availability at SoG and book overflow rooms at WDW, then one year I decided to try it. I am a believer. The pool area is always quiet. I even liked it before the new lobby, etc, so now I like it even better. I always request rooms in the original, older part. I pay $5 for parking but usually park outside to the right and avoid the garage.

Since your ex-husband is the military member and is only alloted a certain number of tickets under his SSN (which is on the dependent ID), it seems very wrong of you to even consider purchasing a ticket for yourself with your kid's dependent ID.

Why don't you talk to your ex-husband and let him know about the deal. It might be something he wants to do with the kids, and since he is one serving, I think he ought to get first shot at it. Perhaps he would be willing to buy you a ticket, and then there is nothing at all shady about it.

Maybe you guys could even work it out so that he buys 5 tickets, and then you guys buy a 6th parkhopper so you can each have a chance to spend 4 days at Disney with the kids . . . and the kids get two trips, one with each parent!

that sounds like sound advice. I am sure that the tickets does have to be purchased by the military member or SPOUSE, It can not be purchased with a child's ID( or at least that is what the ITT/MWR ticket office here said).

Is this ticket deal like the last one...only so many tickets per Military Service Member??????

Yes. I believe it is either 5 total or Military member plus 5. I have seen it posted on message boards both ways but haven't called MWR yet to ask.

Question about military ticket deal...

Say I want to upgrade my GAD ticket to the military offer, is that possible?

We have never been to the water parks....so say I want to do that...can I get that deal....and then on the last day can I upgrade to seasonal passes?

And well...would we even want to go to a water park in November?

These ticket prices are sooo much better than what SoG is offering. I wonder if you can purchase them at SoG as well or if they will match them?

No on both counts. The military tickets are distributed separately and you cannot "upgrade" a complimentary ticket to a military special priced ticket.

And, military tickets, in turn, are not "upgradeable". You cannot add more days or turn it into an annual pass.
