New Member Questions

Just returned home from WDW. While we were gone, I received a new member package from DVC. In the package was a sample 'Product Understanding Checklist', New Member Handbook and a 2004/2005 Vacation Planner. Not so much as a personalized form letter nor a member id.

Does DVC issue member cards? If so, should I have received it with this package or would it be sent separately? If they have no id type card, how do CM's recognize you as a DVC member? (For pool hopping, dining discounts.)

I have a charter member BankOne Disney Visa. Will BankOne send a new card adding DVC member? That, I was told, would serve as a member id in lieu of anything else.

Yes, you will receive member ID card with your member number on them, but they seem to take a while to prepare and ship from the people DVC has contracted with to make them...so please be patient. I wish DVC would simply use a card making system similar to the one Disney uses for room keys.

Yes DVC does issue member cards but they don't come in the initial info packet. They are blue cards embossed with your name and they say when you have been a member since on them. This should be the main form of ID as a member but often many CM's take your key to the world card which says DVC member on it. But in order to get many of the discounts, you are supposed to show the blue card.

Can't remember how long it takes for them to arrive though.

We have been DVC members since March of this year -- only took about 3 weeks for our blue membership cards to arrive. Now that we've purchased a second resale, will we get separate membership cards for that as well??

You will get a second card and member number if the resale has a different use year than your first purchase through Disney. If it's the same use year but the contract pre dates your original contract, I'm not sure how they handle that.
