New Member/Old Member Add-On Prices

We've been researching resale vs. direct add-on pricing and after speaking with our Guide, I was surprised to learn that the Disney $92.00 add on price only applies to existing members who were already in the DVC system by, I believe, 3/31/06.

As I understand it, new members added after that date are subject to the $95.00 add-on price and ALL members will be subject to the new price effective 6/30/06.

Still, even at $95, buying direct may make more sense for some of the resorts, particularly BCV, if you can suffer through the waitlist. Depending on the UY that you are wanting Disney also includes the previous year's points and your closing costs will always be covered by Disney.

Can anyone who became new members since April 1, and purchased an add-on already, confirm this pricing?

I am considered an "old member" well since may of '05 anyway and was put on the wait list yesterday for an add-on. I was given a $95 pp price. I would much rather the $92.....

Wow, that's so weird. That's three different tiers of pricing that has been confirmed. So far I've seen reports posted here in the last week of:

"Old" members able to purchase or be put on the waitlist at $92
"New" members being told the purchase price is $95
"Old" members being told the purchase price is $95

Just curious, did you ask your guide about the $92 price?

This is strange. Just added on and they told me $90.00 per point for current owners and 101.00 per point for new owners.

dairyou - Thanks for information. Did you purchase your add on at SSR? They might be offering a special add on incentive for SSR points like they offer when you first buy-in.

When we toured SSR last month, I definitely know that the $101.00 price you were quoted is the same price we were quoted, but then they were offering an incentive of either $93/point plus all of last years points OR $88 per point if you didn't want last years points. But those were figures to initially buy in, and not to add on, so I'm curious now about the $90 price.

I should mention that my Guide also told me that to add - on at either HH or VB would be $87 but he didn't know how long that price would be effective.

I did just call her after I posted and she said it was because it was Beach club and its proximity to Epcot and MGM and that others were $92 so I was under the assumption that BWV would have been $95 as well? Pluto I'd be curious if your guide would say the same thing...

We did just add on. Actually, it will be posted on the 17th because we wanted to wait for our next billing cycle on the credit card.

We purchased at SSR because the only other resort we might have considered with BCV. They told me they didn't have any add on's there. Everywhere but BCV was available. Plus hubby wanted the extra 12 years for our kids in the future

I would have considred HH or VB at 87.00. Our guide didn't tell us about that. I'll have to call and find out about that!

pluto-when did you join DVC? Just wondering if you are an "old" (before 4/1/06) or a "new" (on or after 4/1/06) member.

pluto - thanks for clarifying. Your price is in line with what my guide told me was the price of existing members prior to 4/1/06.

We've been DVC members for a almost 3 years and we just added on 35 more points at BWV (signed the papers on Wed) and we paid $92/point.

I called yesterday for VWL and was told it would be $92/point as well. Now if only I can convince DH before 6/30!
