NEW Magic Kingdom Times Guide

Interesting. I think there are a lot of guests that think the only place to see the parade is along Main St. Maybe this will help shift some of the crowds back into Frontierland.

Oh goodness I hope not. I like watching from back there without the huge crowd and having to save my spot for 3 hours.

Not just guests but CM. Last week I asked a CM where the Christmas parade was starting - he told me Main St... wrong. I should have trusted my own instincts and memory from MVMCP a few years back! I think having the parade route on is a great idea :)

Edit: strike that, although it has the route, it still doesn't show direction.

This might also help when someone sees an open spot on the curb only to find out too late that they are on the side of the hub that the parade doesn't go by. I have been to mk dozens of times and I certainly have never done that :rolleyes1

It's says on the bottom that it begins on Main Street.

I'm not sure really what difference it makes the direction BUT I thought I remembered the 3:00 parade as starting on Main Street and then the MSEP started in Frontierland. Or maybe it was the other way around. But I'm pretty positive one of them started in Frontierland. Seems like I remember the parade being over in Frontierland and us going to rides in Adventureland still hearing the parade going on Main Street.

Anyone know? Do all the parades now start on Main Street and end in Frontierland?

when we took the Keys to the Kingdom Tour it was explained to us:

the afternoon parade starts in Fornteirland and heads out to main street....(thereby leading the people out, to make room for more people)...

the evening parade is the opposite. it starts at Mian street and heads into frontierland.. drawing the people in, to stya for the rest of the evening.

Thanks. I knew I was remembering the two parades being opposite. So I wonder why they printed on the new map that the parade starts on Main Street?

Last time we were there, the afternoon parade also started on Main Street. I've seen it go both ways, though.

Celebrate a Dream Come True and the Main Street Electrical Parade start at Main Street USA and exit in Frontierland. Once Upon a Christmastime and Boo to You start in Frontierland and exit Main Street USA....

Unless it's been raining. Then Celebrate a Dream Come True can run in reverse. Maybe the MSEP but I haven't worked PAC for that enough.

I'm thinking and hoping that this won't shift the crowds towards Frontierland (our favorite spot for parades) since this same parade route map has always been available on the park maps given out at the park entrance as well.

Speaking of confused guests, last year we were waiting to see the Dreams Come True parade in Frontierland when a couple of moms standing next to us were starting to complain how Disney was running behind as it was 3:10 and the parade "hadn't started yet!" I gently informed them that the parade probably did start on time, but since it's making its way from Main Street, it would take a bit more time to reach us. :goodvibes

All of the major regular MK parades begin on Main Street (near the Fire Station) and end in Frontierland (near Splash Mtn.)

Only the "party" parades regularly run in the opposite direction to the above.

There can be occasional exceptions to those "rules," but don't expect that to happen often.

Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It (not really a "parade" per se, anyway) enters on Main Street (near the Firehouse,) proceeds to the Castle Hub, performs its show, then heads back up Main Street and exits near the Firehouse.

Great info!:)

Why do you think Disney felt the "need" to,all of a sudden, include the Parades Route in the Times Guide?

Also,what does PAC stand for?

Thanks.:)

PAC is Parade Audience Control, those nice cast members you see directing guests around, playing games on main street and generally trying to keep things from going wrong.

The parade route in the map has always struck me as a bit confusing, since it's in there along with so much else. By putting it in the times guide they can take it out of the map and make the map that much easier to understand. A basic rule of designing anything visually informative is to keep it simply and clean. The park maps are far from that. They're 40 years of things being added on haphazardly.

I just read on another site that the most likely reason for the inclusion of the Parades Route in the Times Guide is that, with the upcoming Frontierland repavement project, the Parades Route will be changing and Disney felt the Times Guide would be the best way to convey that info to Guests.:)

That conjecture makes a lot of sense.:)
