New iPhones

HATE the fact that the "small" version is bigger than a 5. The 5 is already pushing the limit in my book. :(

I'm surprised to see so many people in this thread finding the bigger size as a negative. That's been the biggest problem I've heard people give with the current iPhone.

I'd love to get the 6+, but I can't justify the $299. In the meantime, I'm really looking forward to iOS 8 and Yosemite, and what they do with home automation.

Happily the 6 is only marginally bigger than the 5S. Additionally happily is the fact that Apple decided to release two different sized iPhones, so we can choose, instead of forcing users to go down one path.

I do agree with having at least 2 sizes. I just really miss the days of having a VERY small phone. I'd prefer one about 3/4 scale to the 5.

I do agree that a small form factor is desirable. It's why I'm put off of some Android phones other than the archaic security issues; it's just like talking into a dinner tray.

Really? No one I know thinks their iPhone is too small. If I wanted a giant phone I would have already bought an android. The 6+ seems ridiculous to me? How do you even carry it?

I need a new phone. I'll get the 6 but I'm not thrilled with the increased size, I'm just locked into the apple ecosystem. I'm not rebuying apps & music etc at this point.

I have a iPhone 5s, and I'm not sure why 64bit has improved it?

future proofing...

its a negative imo because i gotta get all new accessories. All my mophie battery packs, my car mount, need to be changed now.

This also applies to all my phones on my account too :\

id actually buy an iPhone 6 Mini instead if they had one the same size but upgraded specs.

The size issue irritates me. No iPhone/Apple user I know has ever expressed an interest in Apple making phablets, yet here we are. Maybe they should have made three different sizes instead of just two (one the same size as iPhone 5). Gee I wonder which one would be the biggest seller.

I still have an iPhone 4 and was holding out for the 6, but now I don't know, I might just go with the 5s. I'll have to go to the Apple Store and physically hold a 6 for myself to see what it's like.

As an android user....... We've had this for 2 years now and at 1/2 the cost
Yes, that is what I was thinking also.

My iphone 4 is full, I've been deleting apps & music. Plus it acts like it is about to die. I can't wait to get a new one. Not sure what I will get, I don't want a large phone. Definitely need larger than 16GB, is the next option 32GB or 64GB? I saw some prices and it jumped from 16GB to 64GB to 128GB.
Hi Debbie. MAybe get a smaller Android, with a micro SD card. I have a 16 gig Galaxy 4 (I like a large screen) and a 64 gig SD card, about $25 for the card. It also makes moving photos, music, etc very easy with the removable card. I also like the replaceable battery, for places like Disney World. No need to carry chargers, cables, etc with me. Just a small spare battery in my pocket to pop in when needed.

i meant like something new aka TouchID.

NFC is old tech that androids already have... though im hoping NFC mobile payment would be more popular now that Apple has adapted to it.

i guess im riding the wrong train, i should probably go for the S series lol

Though the way Apple is implementing it is totally different. Also the number of card companies and merchants coming on board with it now.

It's been improved as it is every generation. I'm curious what makes you say the camera quality is crappy? I have some pretty decent prints from my iPhones and I use a high end DSLR with even higher end lenses as my real camera. For being a camera on a phone it's pretty decent.

Have you seen the picture quality on the Samsung android more mega pic

I agree with this. I always hear but Android has had this for years, but what I think people forget is when it comes to innovation for Apple it is not to be the first, but to improve what was already there and make it the best. For example with the mobile payments/NFC, yes Android has had it but is it mainstream and the answer is no. With Apple working with banking institutions and other companies now it can be mainstream. The same can be said with the iPod and with the watch, yes there are other watches out but it is what Apple does with it that makes them stand out. I don't think that the watch they showed yesterday will be the watch that is placed in production next year. One huge thing missing was the health aspect. Yes they talked about fitness, but they have been working with different health organizations specifically the Mayo clinic. It was speculated they - Mayo Clinic would be presenting yesterday. I suspect this will be a big focus once it is finally introduced. I say all that to say I'm excited for the iPhone 6, its time for an upgrade from the 4!

Mega pixels does not a camera make. I have not seen the Samsung images but even if they are better it does not make the iPhone images crappy. There is much, much more to taking a decent photo then mega pixels. I have stunning prints of the night time winter castle in Disneyland taken on an iPhone 5 that blew me away. The iPhone camera is no slouch when applying a little exposure knowledge.

i phone 6 8 MP, 1080p HD video (main); 1.2 MP, 720p HD video (front-facing)

Samsung 5 16 MP, 4K HD video (main); 2MP, 1080p HD video (front-facing)

your telling me iphone will take a better pic at 8mp vs a samsung at 16 mp?

yes there is more than just megapixels when it comes to cameras. Also the fewer the pixels the bigger the pixel absorbing more light.

Yes, I am saying a camera with less megapixels can absolutely take better photos than one with more. There's a LOT more to a camera then mega pixels, the sensor, the optics, aperture, ISO handling etc. When it comes to mega pixels on a very tiny sensor, less is actually better. Lots of mega pixels are played up in cameras because the average consumer automatically equates "more" with "better." A 20 ounce porterhouse at Sizzler is not better than a 6 ounce filet mignon at Lawry's but people will perceive it that way. Not saying one phone is one or the other in that scenario because I have absolutely no idea what the specs are for the Samsung. The Samsung may very well take better photos, I have no idea, never used one but it having more mega pixels alone does not make it a better camera nor does it make the iPhone's images crappy.

Saw this yesterday and thought it was hilarious.

Seriously though, Apple may not be the first to the market, or the most advanced in their field, but buy can they make something popular. They did it with the mouse - not invented by them, but popularised by them. And the iPad - again, not invented by them, but popularised by them. Now they are going to do the same with multimedia watches. Not first, but very much dominant.
