Wow. Great siting. Are those visible to non Starwood yet?

Not yet, but in a few days. The Maui deposit may get taken by Starwood owners, but the Kauai deposit is huge, some will make it to the general II inventory.

I am a DVC member and have been contemplating making a trade into a resort in Hawaii but have no idea which resort would be the best. I will have some extra points this year and thought about Hawaii (for the millionith time)in 2 years. You seem to have a knowledge of Hawaii.

What are you demonstrating in your post about the Westin resort? Is this a nice resort to stay in? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I just took the starwood tour two days ago at the Westin Maui Villas and got a glimpse of the Princeville ones as well.

Just a note to those thinking of trading, the Princeville ones are NOT on the beach but rather a bluff. So you have to drive to the beach, which is a bummer.

The Ka'anapali ones are simply beautiful, but very pricey. For a one week block with ocean view, it was just a hair under 70K buy in

Which is exactly why we want to trade in rather than buy.

Just remember the Kauai Westin is not yet on the II DVC exchange list.

As a rule DVC doesn't add resorts still being built. They did make an exception for Maui and Ko'Olina and may for Kauai as well. A good Westin Example I quoted recently comes from a fellow DVC and DIS member who wanted to exchange into Kierland. II had plenty of deposits but from the new section which has a separate II code (as does the North section of the Westin on Maui). DVC only had the older section on their exchange list and that member could not get the exchange.

I was sort of surprised too, I looked at airfare from DTW. Not bad flights but $1200 pp.

Yep, it's 3 days. Like Tom, I was really surprised to see them gone on day 2.

I saw a couple of bulk banks of ski weeks at the Sheraton Mountain Vista and Lakeside Terrace and most were gone by the end of the 2nd day.

My sense is that if you want a Marriott ski week, you'd best own a Marriott (and a good one.) The preference period is just too long for those weeks to last until those of us with non-Marriotts can get to them.

I own a Starwood ski week, I just was rather surprised to see the bulk bank in May.

I saw the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort (WPV) this morning for a 1BR in mid-Dec (12/13-20) using Worldmark.
