If they make you fill out a 1099 more than likely you are going to have to pay income tax on the full going rate of the room. Not just the $1.00 they are advertising. Therefore if you book a room that would normally cost 10,000 for a week you will have to pay tax on 10,000 next year.

For taxes on a sweepstakes win you have to pay Fair Market Value, what it cost the sponsor to procure the room for you. If it cost them $10,000, you will get a 1099-Misc that states $10,000 in box 3 which is other income. My DCL cruise last year was valued at 10k, the actual cost was a lil over $5k, I have a 1099 with the 5k on it.
