New here, ? re making ADRs for Jan. 2011

Hello everyone! I'm so glad I found this forum. I'm going nuts trying to plan our first Disney trip. We are planning to go Jan. 3, 2011. I can't book anything until the new prices come out in August. What I don't understand is how can I make ADRs 180 days out (which will be 7/5/10) when I can't even book the trip until August??? I've read a little bit about making room reservations and then canceling them but I'm not excited about that. I've also read that I can make ADRs w/out a confirmation number (i.e. no confirmation number since I don't have the rooms/tickets booked yet) - is that true??? We are planning on staying at a Disney resort. Any advice/info anyone could give would be MUCH appreciated!

Dining Reservations can be made at 180 days out from date of dining whether or not you have a confirmed Disney Resort Confirmation. You won't even be asked for it unless attempting to book for more than 180 days out.

Now, since you don't have a confirmed reservation, you won't be able to take advantage of 180+10 and you will have to get online or call each day.

You may also want to check out the thread about the 190 day glitch here on the Reservations Board. Near the last page is a basic summary of the thread so far and it may offer help as well. Lastly, if you need a step by step on making the Reservations online, there's a tutorial down in my Signature.
