NEW Harambe Nights event Summer 2014 Animal Kingdom

Best review I've read so far. Thank you for doing this. It gives you a full comprehensive idea of the evening.

I agree about your wonderful review being the best I've seen! Thanks for posting. We have tickets for August 2nd and I'm even more excited now after reading and watching your review.

Just booked for June 28th and we couldn't be more excited! As far as the reviews on seating issues I'm going to take a Hakuna Matata on this and just enjoy the expereince. :goodvibes

Us too! See you there (that might be me elbowing you for a better premium seat!!).

Thanks for your reviews. I really would like to do this but hesitant bc all reviews I read said it was not child friendly.

My kids (9&5) actually eat a variety of foods so I'm not worried about the food. We would take nap in the afternoon, so not worried about late night. I think they would enjoy the music and dance and film plus street party dancing and characters.

Overall, I think this has potential to be a great "splurge" for our family ... But the price, even for a splurge, has made me wait for reviews...

It won't be a problem with kids unless they won't eat the food. There is some macaroni and cheese...I remember it now. It just isn't the Kraft type macaroni and cheese that kids like. But it doesn't play like a kids' party, most of the attendees and those up and dancing with the band were adults. Not that surprising with free-flowing booze.

My 14 year old son and I really enjoyed Harambe Nights. We arrived at Animal Kingdom at 5:45pm. The cast members placed an arm band on us and we were zebras (I would suggest this section as it is not on the floor and it is center stage. We rode 2 rides and them headed to Africa. We enjoyed the welcome with the food they had. My son liked it all but the cheeseburger roll, which was odd as I thought that was the only thing he would like at the welcome. We had some photopass pictures taken and walked around alittle. It was then time to go in for the show. I felt we had the best section. We were about 5 rows up, and had no problem seeing at all. The show was awesome!!!!! We enjoyed the show and the lion chow they gave us. We also like the little package it came in. After the show we eat dinner. My son did not try much, but did eat mac and cheese and a few other things. The desserts were great. The party was terrific! the music and dancing was great. The characters walking around were fun (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Timon and Rafki). Also the stations set up with fun learning about Africa with cast members there to answer questions. Also the pictures from photopass, atnight with the area light up, are fantastic. We are still at Disney, so all the pictures are still on my camera. Hope this helps.

Are the photopass photographers with the characters, or taking candids around the party, or what?

thanks!

They are walking around. I did see them taking some pictures of characters, but it was kind of if they were in the same place at the same time. We did not get any photopass with characters, but I did take them with my own camera. Also the characters were walking around and you had to get them to take a stop and take a picture with you. My son did buy a carved stick, with Timon saw and came up to us to take it and show rafki and take a picture with my son and the stick which was a neat interaction. We had to ask the photopass people to take pictures as they were walking around also, but they were very nice and would pose you in a good spot once asked.

After reading reviews, I decided that the non-premium seating seemed better than the premium seating since I had bought the premium seating for two reasons: I am short, and I do not want to wait in line for a good seat.

I am excited that (after bouncing me around to several people) Disney allowed me to exchange my premium seats for non-premium seats so that I can have stadium-seated seating. :-) They canceled out my original order, and then I booked non-premium seats for August 2nd. Yay!

I'll see you there :) We are in non-premium too. We are getting to the park about 4:00 to grab a few rides before heading to the party

I attended the 06/14 Harambe Nights event - and although it was rainy, we still had an amazing time!

I wanted to note that they have put risers on the stage, so the performers are now elevated. We had premium seating, and we had no problem watching the performance. We were in the 3rd row of seats - it was GREAT!

All these positive experiences make me really excited for July 5th!

Did anyone here go solo? Was it still fun? I won't have a friend or anybody with me. Tips?

Hiya :wave2:

First post from me.

Is anyone hoping that this will be extended through December? I'd love to go but we aren't there until then x

It'd be nice, I'd love to take DH this winter when he can go. I doubt it will happen though. Too many competing parties.

This is great news that there are now risers on the stage! Thanks so much for sharing this! I have premium seats and was really worried about the view. How early did you have to line up to get the third row?

I lined up the second they announced they were getting ready to open the doors…the 1st two rows were reserved for VIP guests (not sure who that was, but it wasn't us "lowly" Premium-paying peeps...:rotfl2:)

This was way better than expected. We all had an excellent time! I'm glad they put Mac and Cheese out because I was already prepping my DD's that there wouldn't be much there for them but they ate more than I expected.

We have to avoid buffets in general because they are now charged full adult price and eat very little not to mention no alchohol. So I was cringing at the price.

The welcome reception was great. My advice is move all the way in to the back. No lines for anything.

From start to finish it was well worth it. You had:

1) Welcome reception
2) A wonderful show
3) Excellent dinner afterward
4) Fun Street Party

We were too tired to stay all the way to the end so little ones (or anyone for that matter) might do better with an afternoon nap.

I will add this hard ticket event is a nice addition as it does not take away any hours from the theme park schedule.

Wonder if they could do something like a beach party at Typhoon lagoon?
