New free dining offer yeaaah

Anyone know:
:grouphug:
Would I get a discount on deluxe dining if I am staying within the allotted time frame in a deluxe resort?:dance3:

It's free quick service for value and free regular dining for moderate and deluxe. You could upgrade to deluxe dining for a cost. I think it's about $33 for an adult per night and around $12 for a child.

Okay for the record I did read ALL of this thread. :faint: It was A LOT of great info to take in and I just want to make sure I'm getting this right since I've never done the whole split say thing. Thanks for your patience!

From what I understand...
I book a room only for Saturday. I can pick up the park tickets on Saturday. Do they allow you to pick them up at the resort or only at guest relations?
Free dining package starts the Sunday of our trip. I have to check in for the package on Sunday morning. I do this at the resort right? I may or may not be allowed to keep the same room. I don't think it's a big deal to move if it saves me money.

And one last question...:flower3: If I stay at a moderate will they allow me to downgrade to the QSDDP? I know that sounds silly but QSDDP works so much better for my family than the regular dining plan.

Thanks to all the nice posters here helping others out, I was wondering what the deal is if my check-in lands one day before free dining starts and according to some posters here I wouldn't be able to get free dining since my check in date doesn't fall in free dining period (I would have to make two reservations with my first night being room only and then the rest of my trip under a package reservation to get free dining for the rest of my week).

I can't help but wonder..why can't I 1) have free dining just applied to my whole reservation since 6 out of my 7 nights are during the free dining period 2)and if that's not possible why can;t Disney just make life easier and put free dining for my whole trip while just excluding my first check in date that lands before the free dining period instead of forcing me to make 2 seperate reservations with one being room only.

I only ask/vent because it makes no sense that if your check in date is on the LAST day of free dining you'd get free dining for your whole stay. But if it's one day before free dining is offered you "dont qualify."

Man it's been particularly frustrating booking my Disney trip this year lol

Crazy Disney logic :confused3:confused3:confused3 .... good luck with your plans and I hope once all the dust settles you have a wonderful vacation!

From what I've read the tickets need to be picked up at one of the parks or at DTD. Resort check in will be at the resort. And for whatever reason :confused3:confused3:confused3 they will not let you downgrade the dining plan.

I agree with your comments, same situation here. From what I read based on current Disney policies, you must check in on a date that falls within the discount period. The check-in date is the key as opposed to the fact that 6 out of 7 days qualify during the period that you are staying. It seems odd that you can check in on the last day of a qualifying period and still get the FD for the duration of your vacation, but this is Disney's current policy

Based on the current Disney policy, we will have to have a split reservation in order to qualify for 6 out of 7 days, but if this is what we have to do, to save the money, we will do so.

this might be a dumb question but....I noticed that the OP mentioned a code (FCX and FCY to be exact) but I have never noticed a spot on the website to enter codes into. Can you only get this deal by calling on the phone and giving a CM those codes, or will this be available online also?

also wondering this same thing. Does anyone know if we have to input one of those codes online? My tenative plan is to try and book online Aug 3rd at 6am to see if the free dining shows up. If it doesn't show up, I plan to call at 7am. Do I have the times right for this? Online the promotion should show up at 6am EST and the reservations line to call in opens at 7am EST?

At the bottom of the WDW page click on "Special offers" and it will take you to the discount. Enter your dates and info and the summary will come up with free dining included...I hope that makes sense! :goodvibes

Because the rule is, and has always been, that you must check in during the promotion period to get the promotion. Not a day before the promotion begins, or a day after it ends. This is true of all discount promotions Disney offers, not just free dining.

You can pick your tickets at guest relations at one the the parks or at DTD.

Normally you will keep the same room, tell to the CM that you have 2 reservations at your first check in.
You can't downgrade to QSDP but you can use your table service credits to counter service restaurants and if you ask you will have 1 counter service and 1 snack in exchange of 1 table service credit, this vary from one year to other, you must ask about this to a counter service cashier :goodvibes

Also, since I have a Disney Visa .. do I have to use it.. even though I do not want to? I thought if I had to, I could just put $200 and use the rest as cash...

I was wondering this too, i would love to book early if the dv offer comes out but i dont want to put the whole trip on there, do you have to use it for the whole ressie or just some???

Thank you to everyone for all the great info! Im excited!!!!!!!

I can't be certain but from what I have read on one TA website, Disney expects you to pay for the entire vacation on the Disney Visa.

There is no place to enter a code - you go to the Walt Disney World Website and if it is advertised on the front page, then click on the ad. (if it isn't there, just click on "Explore Our Special Offers" - bottom left of screen), choose the special offer for "Free Dining" (for October-December - not September) and click on "Get Details", then click on "Check Availability", fill in your dates, resort etc. and click confirm at the bottom of the reservation page. Your done! :goodvibes
You have the times correct but be forwarned that Disney sometimes sneaks the discounts up online before 6 - I would start checking at 5am;)

Thank you Brandi! Do you what the earliest I could go down & do our check-out/check-in? I figure we'll need to leave for our ADR at 7:50 at the latest, so thinking going down to the desk @ 7am would be good. Is there somewhere there to do it for me that early? I hope they just leave us in our room. Since it's a family suite (hopefully) hopefully they'll just leave us, with 4 kids, changing rooms may be rough! lol

Yes, there will be someone there at 7am - I have never seen a guest service desk without someone behind it - guests arrive at all hours of the day and night! When you check-in the first time, just mention the reservations are linked and the CM will do they best they can to work their magic so you can stay in the same room!

You can't downgrade but can't you use table service credits at quick service places? We've
done that in the past. You'll only have 1 snack and no refillable mug... but you could always but the mugs yourself.

This is really iffy - sometimes it works and other times it doesn't and you really don't want to be stuck. There is no set rule anymore - every place and CM will be different.

This is all correct.:thumbsup2

You can only pick up the tickets at guest relations at the parks or Downtown Disney. Yes, your check-in for your second (free dining) reservation will be at the resort - just explain to the CM that you already have your park tickets (so he/she doesn't get confused because it will be in the system). No, unfortunately you can not downgrade - I really don't know why:confused3

I believe that when Disney calculates what dates need resort occupants that they take into consideration that people will be beginning there vacation on the last day of the offer and could be there for up to 14 days (though I believe the average vacation is between 7-10 days). If the discount doesn't work or there are plenty of rooms still available they extend the free dining dates like they did last year on August 16th.

I'm not sure that is totally accurate. Here's why.....take the current free dining for example, it runs through 9/24. I decided to play around with it and booked a vacation to run through the 26th and it allowed me to use the free dining. I guess my question is, with the breakup of weeks that may occur in Nov will it allow you to do the same thing? Not trying to get anyone's hopes up by any means...just what I saw on the site earlier.

You can have free dining for the length of your stay as long as you check-in during the promotion. If free dining goes from Oct 2nd - 8th and you check-in on Oct. 6th and are staying until Oct. 14th you will get free dining for your entire stay.
Your check-in is before the Sept 24th end date so you got free dining for your entire stay:goodvibes

Sorry perhaps you misunderstood, you must checkin during one of the time frames and then you can stay up to 14 days no matter if the offer ends before you check out you will get the FD for all the days of your stay, but your check in date MUST be in one the time frames :goodvibes
