New free dining offer yeaaah

I am sure I have missed this somewhere...brand new to the site. There is NO FD booking going on this morning correct? It is tomorrow. We check in on 12-16 so we just barely make the cut-off date I want to make sure we get the FD deal though. Thanks!!

Beacuse you check in the 12th you would get FD for your entire stay up to 14 days. From the rumor you should be able to book tommorow 8/3. :thumbsup2

There's no discount as of yet for those dates and there may not be one. I remember some people were talking about how frustrating it was that the end of September was blocked out. There IS a room discount GP offer going on right now if they're staying at a value resort. Here's the link.

Thank you. That is so strange. We are going Sept 23-Oct 2 and got the free dining. They are going the 27-october 4 and nothing. I wonder if something is going on that week.

it may have been answered before, but we are booked into SSR (as DVC members) for Nov 27 to Dec 11 - would we get free dining plan for some / all of our stay ?

The simple answer is no.

The more complicated answer is: How much will dining cost you, per night?

It costs us 127.99 per night (for 2 adults and 3 kids) for the Standard DDP.

It would cost us $164 a night at a mod (which would include DDP).

With your brood...it doesn't make sense to book a room at the Port Orleans and take the free dining. Yet.

HOWEVER, when our oldest hits 10 years old....it might (if we decide to continue to do free dining). At that point, it will cost us (using today's rates) $161.95 per night for dining. That's getting AWFUL close to a mod room rate....

So the answer is: No, DVC members don't get free dining. BUT, depending on the configuration of your family (For example, 2 adults, 2 kids over 10...which would cost you 191.96 per night for dining), you MIGHT be able to save a bit on dining by ponying up for a package at a mod..with the caveat that you'll have to NEED tickets, too. It likely won't be a huge savings..but it might be something.

Question: I have been doing research for the past few years now and noticed that FD is always the 2nd week in November(we are scheduled to go next year) Obviously its never guarenteed but here is my question-We are scheduled to check in on a saturday, if FD starts on a Sunday, would I be able to call and change our package to sunday and still keep our saturday as a room only? That way, we could still arrive on a saturday(which isnt a park day for us anyway) and start our package on sunday. I just wanted to see if I could figure out an answer so if I needed to subtract a day-which I dont wanna do I could before our flights are booked. And since we are already scheduled for the saturday, changing it wouldnt be hard right?

I already have a package booked, as does the rest of my family. I am the only DV cardholder. If this is offered for DV holders, would I also be able to apply this promo to my family's reservations (we have 4 total) if I put a additional $200 deposit down on each with my DV even though they are not cardholders?

You could try.

I think the policy is that the ressie either has to be under the cardholders name OR have the cardholder listed on it as being a room occupant.

I'm also pretty sure the policy is that, to modify a reservation, you have to be on it. When I talk to a reservation agent about my mother's upcoming reservation, for example, my mom has to initiate the phone call and give them permission to talk to me.

But as we've seen, policy isn't always practice. So...try. The worst they can do is tell you no. Just be prepared for that answer.....

Yes.

The caveat is: They could make you change rooms. They try VERY hard not to, but occasionally the room controllers just have no choice but to shuffle people.

I think they'll change your dates for the package (and your reservation number, I'm pretty sure, stays the same). They'll refund the difference, if any, of your new package price vs the old package price (since you're technically dropping a day from that package.

They'll book you a new ressie (which means an additional one night deposit) for the one night of room only.

The first FD offer that came out for 2011 and had to be booked by 12/27/10? included your friends dates as the promo's last FD date was 9/30 and could be extended for up to 14 days. Disney did say to book then as there would not be anymore offers, I guess they were talking about that last week of September since they did come out with the current offer which did not incl the last week of Sept.

I am wondering if its worth all that hassle! I have actually a grand gathering so 4 rooms. I am wondering if I should just cancel that saturday now and sat the heck with it. so its not such a hassle But I did check its $275 a night for that saturday. so they will charge me $275 OR $200 then $275?

:surfweb: is it Wednesday yet?

I've been trying to keep myself busy :laundy: but this week is going so slowly!:rolleyes1

The grand gathering thing makes it more complex for whoever is making the modifications when you call...but the principle is the same.

With room only, it's one nights stay...so $275.

Here's the thing: IF you had dining attached to your package already, and IF you're cutting a day off your park tickets (probably not) AND you're dropping a day off your package...the refund should PROBABLY cover that amount..or pretty close.

What I'm not sure is how Disney handles refunds...if they can take that amount an apply it to another reservation OR if they have to do a straight refund to your credit card and then do a separate transaction for the deposit. I THINK it's probably the 2nd (2 separate transactions) but I'm not sure.

The good news is that Disney CRO refunds typically post pretty quick. At least they have for us.

As for it being worth the hassle..that's up to you. It probably works out to a considerable savings (per room and in total)....but I also know that, when dealing with family/large groups..sometimes the savings ISN'T worth the hassle. Especially considering that each room is going to have to check out and check back in AND there's a chance that one or more of them might have to change rooms.

Do the phone lines open at 8am like the dining reservation lines? Thanks! Trying not to think about tomorrow too much in hopes that it'll make the day go faster! If this comes down, even with needing to do a split stay - it'll be a HUGE savings for us! Five "adults" on the dining plan - big money savings.

7 AM Eastern

I truly do hope that everyone here gets their promo for tomorrow. :worship:

But on the other hand, if there is no discount slated to come out tomorrow at all, I'd love to see the looks on the CM's faces when their phones start blowing up at 7am. :lmao:

Thanks. I am checking with everyone now and may vote to just nix the day and start early on sunday

I think it should be noted that not everyone may be able to add the FD to their current reservations without having to make some change. This happened to us a few years back. We had a reservation at a moderate, standard view and when we tried to apply the FD to our existing reservation, we were told we had to either change our reservation to a water/pool view or switch resorts as there were no more "standard views" available at our current resort that would qualify for the free dining. Sounded ridiculous to me, as we already had a standard vw booked but that's what happened. Similar thing happened to friends of ours who were booked at the BC, garden view...when they tried to apply FD to their existing reservation, they were told they couldn't and that there were no more rooms available for FD at the BC and would have to switch resorts completely if they wanted FD.

We made our res in advance when we got free dinning the the day the code dropped . I was up and on the phone dialing at 6:59 . We were on hold for about 15 min but by 8:00 am we had free dinning for 11 people . Good luck we are not going until Sept of 2012 so our race is not on yet. I would also have a back up resort picked encase your current resort has filled all the free dinning set aside for the promo .:woohoo: I hope info is correct I found out about our free dinning 2 weeks before Disney dropped it on here .

While there is resort availability (rooms able to be booked in that category) only a certain number of rooms in each category is allocated to promotions. It's a big number, but it's not ALL the rooms. Some categories are (occasionally) completely excluded, too.

That's probably what you ran into.
