THANK YOU! That makes absolute sense and I'm sorry I didn't get it at first.

We plan on hopping quite a bit on our December trip and this service will definitely help a lot!
No problem. Its a much better value for those with trips close to or being 7 consecutive days. We've got a 6 day trip in a couple weeks, but its three days pre cruise and three days post cruise and there's no way I am going to pay for the service twice. It's just not worth it for a couple of hops.

Call me silly but I can't make sense of the schedule posted on the first page. Plus, when does the bus started to run from park to park?

The Express Service starts at 10:00am each day.

If you are in Magic Kingdom

So if AK closes at 9:30, would there be one last bus at 10:00 to MK if they are open later? Here's my scenario: I have a FP for ROL. ROL starts at 9:15, and runs for about 15 minutes. AK closes at 9:30. MK has EMH from 10:00-midnight. Buses from AK to MK run at 00/30. Would there be a bus at 10:00 to MK or would the last bus be at 9:30?

@yulilin3 ~ would you like to add this to Post #1?

The other benefit that I have not seen anyone else mention is that there is always a place to sit on the Express bus. There are many times that the regular buses are packed, especially at certain times of the day, and all seats are taken. With standing in the aisle the only option, other than waiting for the next bus, people are packed in like sardines, some also trying to hold onto strollers. For short rides, it's not that bad. On the longer routes, it's not a pleasant experience.

I personally don't think you can plan that well. There are too many things that disrupt the schedule in Disney, especially if you're traveling with kids. We had gotten the schedule after the first day we missed the bus and planned on getting on the bus at whatever time it was from Hollywood studios but ended up being on a ride longer because they had to stop it for whatever reason. Plus, let's say your kid has to go to the bathroom or the wait time is short on a ride and you want to hop on. I didn't want to feel like I had to miss out on that vs. trying to get the bus on schedule. I just felt it was too much waiting around and planning for the bus. It's not like FP where it's a window, you either get the bus when it leaves or you don't. If you can keep on schedule, more power to you!

Based on your comments, it's obvious the Express Service isn't a good option for your family to invest in. The scheduled departure times is one of the biggest selling points for me. If the bus is scheduled to leave at 11:00 I know I need to be at the kiosk by 10:50 -- plain and simple. If that time is approaching and we're still on a ride, well, I know we're not going to make that 11:00 bus so we'll just finish whatever attraction we're on, maybe hit the bathrooms or do some window shopping and we'll make sure we're at the bus stop by 11:20 to catch the next bus. It will be much less time consuming than walking to the front of the park and waiting an undetermined amount of time for a bus. I don't know when/if we'll ever have the opportunity to use this service since we don't currently have a trip planned and we usually travel during June when the parks have long hours so we start at one park in the morning and then take a break in the afternoon and head to a different park in the evening so we don't typically go directly from one park to another, but if we ever do travel at time with shorter park hours I wouldn't hesitate to use this service. But I can see how it wouldn't work for everyone.

Does everyone need to be at the kiosk ten minutes early? Or is that just your method to protect against unforeseen circumstances? (Agree with your post but need to know official rules for our June trip.)

Just saw this on the Disney site and thought i would share here for anyone who may be planning on using the service this weekend. Sunday in particular.

Please note that Express Transportation service will have a change in operating hours on Sunday, April 23, 2017, with service beginning at 1:00 PM and concluding at park closing. Normal operating hours will resume Monday, April 24, 2017. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

They recommend arrival at the check-in locations ten minutes before scheduled departure. I would say a bare minimum of five minutes would probably work, in a pinch. However, if for some reason the CM is not standing there or is busy helping other guests, the bus could depart without you, as they pull out exactly as scheduled. There was one time when I arrived about seven minutes before departure. While trying to explain the program to some guests, who were in front of me, the CM received a call on the radio from backstage, inquiring if there were any guests for that bus. As he started to say that there were none, I had to interrupt to make sure I got on that departure.

If you miss the express you're losing the time advantage that you paid for in the first place and are now just paying for convenience. Some may people find it still a good value, most would not.
I think it is worth it knowing what time the bus will be there with no guessing and not having to go through security.

Convenience carries a price that varies from person to person. There are some things I am willing to spend more money on for convenience (on site stays for example) and others I am not (DDP for example) which is what makes questions like "Is _______ worth it?" basically impossible to answer. There is no guarantee that express transportation will save you time, it can but it isn't guaranteed. Some may find it more convenient to get to the bus stops whenever they want without fear that they might wait 30 minutes for the next one (especially on trips that are 1-3 days).

I am going to buy this add-on. You don't have to ONLY use this mode of transportation, it just gives you another option. The beauty is that you know when it will leave, if it works out that you are near the Express Transportation kiosk at a good time and you want to hop to another park, then hop on - if not, then don't. I think its going to be a huge timesaver for us - we'll be able to get from the middle of one park to the middle of another without the hassle of the main entrance/security/long walk to the buses, etc..

For $29/week its silly not to get it (if you plan on park hopping). That's my opinion, obviously!

Totally agree!

Very well said!

Yes. It's always one last bus runs after the park officially closes.

Do we know if this is still the case if the park you're going to has late EMH and official closing to all non-resort guests has already passed? I ask, because the PP you responded to is hoping to catch the 10 pm bus from AK to MK and they said MK's EMH starts at 10 pm.

Thanks! I was responding to the first question in her post. :)

There's always one last bus after the park closes and all that's known is the bus won't travel to a park that has closed for a special ticketed event (MNSSHP/MVMCP). Perhaps @AngiTN or @yulilin3 know if it's ever been confirmed that it won't travel to a park that's in its EMH period. Regular guests can be in the park for EMH, they just can't ride anything.

I can ask tomorrow to be sure but it's my understanding it does not run to a park after normal operating hours are completed
