Folks,

My parents have VERY generously invited us to join them for a week in Kissimmee at the end of January. I have just started looking into flights, and the cheapest non-stops from Logan are $189. Southwest does not have their schedule up for these dates. So...my question is, can I do better than the $189? How long should I wait, when will the fare sales start up for this time?

TIA

Debbie

I'm usually happy if I can find round trip airfare for under $200; while it's possible to get it for less than that (sometimes significantly less), I'm happy paying $200 per person.

Having said that, since you're not travelling until January, it would probably be worth while to wait, assuming you will check airfares on a VERY regular basis (like almost every day). It's very likely you'll be able to find something for less than what you've seen so far.

You may also want to consider Providence or Hartford airport - both have non-stops to Orlando, and pricing can sometimes be better than Logan.

Hope this helps!!

We are great fans of Southwest. We live just north of Boston but fly out of Manchester, NH, about 45 minutes away. You should be able to get cheaper flights on Southwest, like $150 round trip. If they are offering a great special, you can get it for even less. I would think that in January, you should get a good price.

SW has had fares in the $110 range RT non-stop out of Providence in January for the past couple of years. The other airlines tend to match the sale rates so you might even get that rate for Boston if you prefer (although Providence is a breeze compared to Logan). I would say you won't see those rates until the fall. If I were you, I would just hang tight through the summer and wait for the sales.

Thanks all. I am a recently converted fan of TF Green and Southwest. Just flew TF Green to Tampa on business, and I was literally checked in and through security in 15 minutes! I will never fly out of Logan again if I can help it.

I think I will take everyone's advice and hang tight through the summer and see what SW comes up with for January, we could do TF Green to MCO or to TPA.

Getting too excited, it's way too far away, and I can't wait! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I, too, am happy to get anything under $200 but I've even paid $215 unfortunately.

This year for the first time and ONLY because of this Transporation board, I got in on a temporary sale with American Airlines. It only lasted a couple of days. I paid $410 total for 4 tickets!! I was in shock! This is for the times I wanted (leave early come home late) and non-stop! It's for then end of October.

Anyway, if you are like me and like things finalized early so as not to loose out on a good flight time or non-stop then $189 isn't bad at all! I usually buy tickets pretty early; I just can't wait that close to my trip for 'great' fares.

Good luck in what you decide!
