How's everyone doing after the storm?
Our winds have finally died down but they were bad earlier. Several of the main roads in town are still closed (can still see the flashing police lights from across the lake from our window). Our power just came back on after probably 6 hours at best guess. We had a tree come down on our mailbox, and part of our pool fence blew away. But other than that we're ok. We have a generator so we were able to have heat and water, and a few lights, but it's nice to have all the power back on. Initially they thought our power would be out for up to 48 hours  Thank god they were wrong on that. The roads are a mess, and my sister and I moved two SMALL trees out of my dad's driveway this afternoon. We're expecting to do more cleanup tomorrow. I came home from school today, and it was one wild ride with the wind cutting across the highway, and all the branches and trees down
So how did everyone else fare?

That was some craziness! At work at about 11:30 we were are looking out the window for the Wicked Witch of the West to be riding by on her bike! We had black sky, massive winds and hail like peas.Pretty scary!

A local auto dealership had it's roof blown off, there are lots of branches and small trees down but we're good in our little house. My parents have no power (since about 4:00) but other than that, they're ok. Glad that's over with!

Trees down, no power for a while, had to pick the kids up from after school care early because they had no electricity, heat , lights etc... my dog is too afraid of the wind to go outside to pee :dog2: but other then that we are doing good! :teeth:

Crazy scary wind and hail around 12:45.... A neighbor of mine had a tree fall right through the middle of her house.. luckily she was'nt home at the time.
Ride home was a game of dodging tree limbs and strong wind blowing my car around. I just went to take the trash out and it is still sooo windy with gusts over 58 mile and hour.. it spooked me out because i kept thinking a tree was gonna fall on me.. barely dodged getting knocked cold by the shed doors where we keep the trash, bolted back to my apartment just really creepy and Cold out there!!!

I had to drive up my dad's driveway this afternoon, which winds through the woods, and had to keep stopping to move huge branches, the small trees, etc. I was so scared that I was going to get crushed, because it was so windy. The ride home from school usually takes about 45 minutes. Today it was close to an hour, because the wind was so strong, and we had to take so many detours to navigate around the down trees.

I just got my cable back (I have cable internet :scared: ), it was out all afternoon in my entire town.

I was outside in short sleeves this morning and now it's so cold!

Nothing major going on here in southern RI. It was very windy earlier, and it's getting much colder, but everything is in place right now...

It's still a bit breezy here, but nothing too bad. George can go outside again without becoming a doggie kite. :rotfl:

The wind is over here now too, but it was definitely a wild afternoon

Not bad here. Around noon time, we had sun, rain and wind all at once for a while. Then it got sunny and cold and stayed windy.

Now it's windy and cold, but the sky seems pretty clear.

You know what they say about New England weather...if you don't like it, just wait a minute. ;)

still windy in southern VT, and still 100,000 PSNH customers without power according to DBF who is out trying to get the tree's off the lines PSNH can fix it. There is quite a few snapped poles as well, not just lines down.

We never lots power here, but he's only about 45 minutes away so that tells you how close it came...he expects to be done Sunday

Please give your bf a big thank you! I've seen some pictures of poles litterally sliced in half, so I know they have a long weekend ahead of them. We were lucky to get back online so fast, but I know there are a lot more that are still in the dark. Unfortunately I think the other side of my town is part of that group.

He just called at 7am, and said they've still got 10's of thousands out. They have crews coming up from CT to help with the tree removal, and the PSNH guys are going behind the tree trucks trying to put stuff back together. He said it looks like tornado damage, scary thought!

I guess they got out at 2am, to go home shower change etc. and they were back in the New London area at 530, ready to start again...still looks like he'll be out until tomorrow, he said some PSNH guys said there are places that will be out until Monday, just due to the amount of work to put the lines back up.

Thankfully, we never did lose power here, but I just read GMP has about 4K customers out in the county I'm in....

They opened the emergency shelters last night in our area, due to the cold and wind, and power outages. Let's hope that everyone who needed to got to them!

We never lost power here at my house, but my dh (an electrician for our local utility) has been working since yesterday morning at 7 a.m. No idea when he's coming home but he called at 7:30 this morning.

The wind blew here- but I haven't even checked to see if we lost any big limbs off the trees or anything. At least we didn't have any snow with that wind! :scared:

COLD COLD COLD COLD it is also very windy
Did you have the rain yesterday afternoon like in the Boston area. Talk about weird! It was like a white out condition with rain and then an hour later it was sunny. I was expecting one of the "Seven Plagues" to turn up by last night there were so many crazy changes.

What wierd weather! It was mild and a little cloudy in the morning but around 2pm we got hail and rain that was blowing sideways.I lost my barrels in the pond and my planter flew off the porch.Even after the rain stopped it was so windy. We lost power and the way our home is set up we also lost heat which is not good because we have a pipe that freezes a lot.Thankfully it came back on and I go the pilot relit. There are a lot of trees and tree limbs down.I drove to my sister in Pelham and 495 was so windy it felt like it was pushing my little Saturn off the road.I hope nobody suffered any serious injury or damage.Gotta love that New England weather!

I know the feeling! Thank your DH, I'm sure he's frozen like a popsicle- thats what DBF feels like right now. Next door to my house is the local GMP substation- those guys havent come in yet either...all the personal vehicles are still in the parking lot and the big trucks are still out.

DBF called again and said PSNH ended up calling in a sub-contractor to set poles, they cant put poles up and connect them in a timely fashion, so the other company is setting, then psnh is putting on the equipment. They were out collecting transformers when he called- ones that had blown.

He said it looks pretty funny on the road they're on. Its his crew- clearing the tree's- then behind him is the sub setting new poles, then behind them is the PSNH crew putting wires back on. They just travel down the road like this LOL...

One downfall he's had this storm, which he hasnt had in years of doing this- they stopped at some local mom/pop restaurant for breakfast, and a couple of the customers gave them crap for being in eating, instead of out restoring the power. One of the PSNH guys said "what road do you live on?" the guy said- why? PSNH guy replied with "well I want to make sure I put it on the end of my list"... :rotfl2:

One good thing- since he's out working, I'm sure to get my homework done LOL

The pictures from the New London area on MUR are amazing. I don't remember an event like this.
We just had a snowsquall move through. We got probably half an inch in 10 minutes. This weather is WIERD
I know some of the cities around here had to open shelters last night. I did finally see some of the lights come on about 11 last night on the other side of town.

I'm on the South Shore ~ about 15 miles from Boston and the weather here was not too bad....windy and rainy, but not like you all are describing though. At one point the sky went from bright and sunny to black and rainy with high winds, but no damage that I saw anywhere, thankfully. I saw on the news last night that a man died from a tree falling on his truck while he was driving down the road...can't rememeber what town that was in though :(
