New England DISmeet March/April

hi all,

i've noticed there are a couple of new posters so i wanted to check in just to say that i am still planning on MAY 5 as our dismeet day. southwick zoo was an excellent suggestion earlier on in this thread. when the zoo opens for the season i will call them and see if we could arrange for some kind of picnic there. otherwise i'll investigate other options. last november i organized a dismeet at red robin in millbury and it was great! so that's always an option too.

May 5 is also on my calendar.

I'm up for Southwick Zoo if that's what works. Of course, when I mentioned it to DS10, he did ask, "If it's a DIS Meet, shouldn't it be somewhere that's Nahtazu?" :rotfl2:

Nahtazu = "Not-a-zoo" when at WDW that's what the info channel says about AK... it's Nahtazu. So funny!

did you guys see that June 24 Sun is the date for the Canobie Lake DISmeet?

Hi Everyone!

I don't think that Matt(Grumpytoo) and I will be able to meet up on the 5th. We had a great time last November at the meet, so if things change we will be there.

Take care,
Catie:flower3:

Southwick has covered picnic tables near the front (also near the food!) that they rent (?) out for birthday parties. Not sure what the cost is.

not gonna make it! yikes!
DS has an ortho consultation that day - noontime!

Catie! I'm bummed you can't make it. Christine and I really enjoyed talking with you and Matt at the Red Robin meet. Maybe you can make it to the Canobie Lake Park meet in June. That'd be cool. newholidayx2, thanks for tipping me off about that! I'd really like to go. I LOVE Canobie Lake Park, we used to go there all the time when I was a kid. Such a wonderful classic amusement park. Fun fun fun!

debating the ortho consult - keep me in the loop, k? thanks

just checking in, bumping, all that good stuff.

jayempey - you'd better make it!!! :) nothing like getting pumped up for a cruise by talking about it with other cruisers. and there are quite a few cruisers in this group.

Has a meet place been decided on yet????

I think I can come. :)

I can't make it we have Diana's best friend's first communion but I am going to try to do the Canobie Lake Park Lisa

Hi DISers,

Just checking in to let you know I haven't forgotten about the meet. It's less than a month away!!! :woohoo:

MAY 5 - Cinco de Mayo is our official meet date. Place: TBA. I am going to call Southwick Zoo as soon as they are open for the season on April 14. I will find out if there are group rates and what the picnicing situation is. If it's not a feasible location we can always do a restaurant as a Plan B.

Here is an updated list of who's attending and their general locations (if I know them). If your name is on this list and you are NOT attending, let me know!

I've decided to run the Millis Gold's Gym 5K that day (my first!!!) and don't know if I'll be up to the meet after. Keeping posted on time and place, though. :confused3

Hello! I finally have an update. Hope you guys are all still up for meeting on MAY 5.

I called the Southwick Zoo and it seems like a great spot for our meet. Here are the details:

Admission is $16.75 per adult, however, if we bring 12 people and purchase tickets all at once as a "family fun pack" we can get tickets for only $9.25 per person! :woohoo: If we bring 16 people then we can get tickets for only $9 per person!

They have picnic areas and they allow you to bring in your own food (cold dishes only, no grill facilities) as long as you do not bring food for the animals or feed the animals. They also have food for purchase on the premesis.

They are open 10am to 5pm, so I thought 11am would be a good time to meet. It would give us a chance to have our picnic and then we could go through the zoo at our own pace afterwards.

Directions to the Southwick Zoo can be found at:
http://www.southwickszoo.com

So the question is: How many of you are attending and are you into the idea of a pot-luck style picnic where we each bring a dish or beverage to share?

We're only a couple of weeks away so please feed back to me as soon as you are able to!

Here is the current list. If you cannot make it please post and let me know and I will revise the list. If you can make it and are interested in the picnic, please let me know what you can bring. I think everyone should bring their own picnic blanket. I can supply paper plates, napkins and cups.

Hi All...

First off, Thanks Stina for all the work and planning you are putting into this DIS Meet....

I am a definate, however just wanted to ask if there are other children around the 11 year old range going?

I can bring an orange-creamed fruit salad (a dessert-y type salad), or if there is something else you would rather, I am flexible......

mag: your desserty thing sounds great! so it will be you + kids? how many?

note to DISers: when you confirm attendance please let me know the # of kids & adults you are bringing. that will help us to know a) how many tickets we as a group qualify for and b) what serving sizes of food to bring. also please list what food items you will be bringing. if we can diversify that's good: some people bringing drinks, others main dishes, and other desserts, etc. i'll wait until the end and bring whatever is left out.

party! picnic party! woo!
