New early morning breakfast at Boma and AKL animal enclosure tour, $250 a pop

This isn't upsetting, like the extra hours events - this doesn't affect anyone else. So I say, if it's your thing, go for it!!

Still, I waited for years to do Backstage Magic ($229, I think,) and that was an all day tour of all four parks and beyond. I don't understand how they set this price point.

Yeah, yeah, I get it. I've heard this a thousand times before. I'm not new. And I know that Disney is a business, and if I don't like it I should vacation somewhere else. Place your value wherever you like, it still makes no sense to ME. And, let's save 20 posts of debate. We can both be right. I hope you and your daughter have a great time, and I'm sure you're a very sensible person.

No need to get so defensive especially about things I never said. My post wasn't about Disney being a business it was about your post stating that "it only proves that people have more money than sense". You aren't right when making that statement unless of course you have done extensive research and published a peer reviewed paper showing your "proof". But seriously, I get you don't see value in it, I don't either but just because someone does that doesn't mean they have more money than sense as you claim. Maybe they just have more money than you and that makes you jealous. Why else would you insult them?

You're not new here either, so you know I am just pre-empting the apologists who will jump on the bandwagon. Not defensive, not jealous and certainly not insulting anyone. That would be against the rules.

The pricing does not make sense... to me. People who pay more than something is worth (financially, not emotionally or morally for which there are any multitude of possibilities) or was previously offered for does not make sense... to me. There are an increasing number of things that Disney is charging for that absolutely prove to me that people have more money than sense. No research required, and no peer reviewed paper needed... that is just plain silly.

If someone finds value, that's their prerogative. I do not. That's my opinion.

Wanyama Safari is similar, cheaper, and includes wine. I think it's still only for guests of AKL/AKV though.
I cannot compare Jiko's dinner to any breakfast. I assumed they had the wrong price listed.

But that isn't what you said in your post, you made an insulting remark claiming that the people who purchase it have little sense. Now you are saying the act of purchasing it doesn't make sense........ to you.

ouch even with 15% discount.

used to be a really nice tour for AKV guests: early am safari that had pickup at resort, went thru backstage areas, then to 'private' safari, followed by a nice breakfast buffet in the park. Hate that they discontinued it. Can't remember the price but even my often thrifty DS said it was well worth it.

It was the Sunrise Safari and was one of the highlights of our very first trip back to Disney since my kids were young. It was available to Concierge level guests and was $50 per person, and it included breakfast pastries and coffee before pick up and a lovely breakfast at the Tusker House after the Safari. We went ten years ago, so I know that the price would be way more today, but holy cow, was that mornign a treat!

My DDIL and DS are planning the WIld Africa Trek in December, and both are losing weight to make sure they are well within the weight limit. In the event something happened to this plan, I believe that this new tour might be a reasonable yet pricier alternative. I know that my DDIL wants very much to take that tour and that if Donny did not make that weight limit, she would not go without him, so he would gladly (alright my cheap son would probably not be Glad!) pay this amount so she would at least have a partial experience.

ETA: for this money I would book a massage at the Grand. LOL!

It looks awesome, but I can do backstage magic for that price :(

That said, I'll probably cave and do this eventually.

near it's end of run, they also offered it to DVC guests there that were non concierge...the only way we'd have been able to enjoy.

was just talking the other day with DH how we wish it was still offered.

they will continue to test the market with the high prices on all things

Has this tour started yet? I am thinking about doing it, but I am not at all convinced that it is worth the price point. I have done Wild Africa and Backstage Magic, which I felt are worth their prices. This would have to be pretty darn spectacular to be with $65 dollars more than Wild Africa and just $5 less than backstage magic. Really eager to hear actual reviews. I haven't even seen any bloggers/website reviews.

For $250pp, for a family of 4 or 5, I'd book a CL room instead. You can see animals out your window and get free wine and breakfast every day. I've seen CL rooms anywhere from $30 extra per day to $200 extra per day.
