New early morning breakfast at Boma and AKL animal enclosure tour, $250 a pop

ouch even with 15% discount.

used to be a really nice tour for AKV guests: early am safari that had pickup at resort, went thru backstage areas, then to 'private' safari, followed by a nice breakfast buffet in the park. Hate that they discontinued it. Can't remember the price but even my often thrifty DS said it was well worth it.

I will eat my chips from walmart thanks and watch from the rocking chairs in the free viewing area at the lodge. Book a FP+ for the safari at AK then when I go to MK pm I will be sure to exit the park before the folks enter paying $150 a pop for a coke and a ride of space mountain for a few extra hours...

Lol. Am I just jealous much..

There goes Disney, pricing out the average guest again! Who wants to pay that kind of money on top of all the other expenses of a trip. And there are far better tours for far less money available for the average family.

It seems like the price point for a lot of special things at Disney are about twice what people would see as a "reasonable" price (for what you get) .. which means that the pricing is a lot about making it limited and feeling special. (Let's admit it . .some people are attracted to things that are exclusive or special (which is why the new night event will probably do well).

Which means it is probably priced right .. for them. I mean the tour is limited to 12 people. With the popularity of Disney the price needs to be high or it would just simply be sold out many many months in advance.

I did this years ago when it was only offered to AKL Concierge guests. It was fun, but absolutely not worth $250.

Jeez. Just how far in the hole is Shanghai anyway?:rolleyes2 All of these extra events/perks for extra bucks are starting to make them look desperate, not just greedy. I'm surprised ice water and toilets are still free.

Not for long...

I like the concept, truly. Hate the price. If I am going to pay that much for a close encounter with an animal I don't see in my daily life...I am going to go swim with dolphins somewhere.

I feel like they are making up a new Would You Rather Game. Would you rather pay $250 for 3.5 hours at AK Lodge including breakfast and tour of animal area OR pay $150 for 3 hours after dark in the MK and all the ice cream you can eat? Would you rather pay $15 more for preferred parking OR $69 for breakfast and an extra morning hour to ride 3 rides? So far, just like the real game, none of the options are all that appealing to me. However, when compared to each other, some become more palatable than others. o_O Honestly, I have never really liked that game!

It is a bit of an odd price point. Wild Africa Trek is $185 (right?). It's about 3-hours. It includes a meal... It is a pretty remarkable tour. What does this tour have that makes it worth $65 MORE? I mean, the Backstage Magic Tour is less! It is 7 hours and includes lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe, and motor coach transportation from park-to-park!

This is now the most expensive tour at WDW, so what about it makes it worth that premium? It is unclear from the description.

Wild Africa Trek doesn't include a restaurant meal. It's some snack type items in a "tiffin." It was a lot of food I thought, but my friend didn't like hers, so I ate it.

They're pulling out all the stops to recoup that money from Shanghai Disney

That's what I was going to say, I can see giraffe, ostrich, and okapi from my balcony at AKV and then head to BOMA for breakfast for way cheaper. I know that doesn't include the information part of the tour, but hey I'll google that part :)

Exactly if you go to the feeding times at the lodge the animal keepers give you loads of good information for free! I love that!

We did the sunset safari and it was significantly less and we ate at Jiko. Hell would freeze over before I'd pay $250 for it.

I miss the Sunrise Safari for AKL club level guests. Wasn't it only like $50?

And it doesn't even guarantee those..."may include". Lol. Might also include close encounters with turtles and squirrels.

I had a close encounter with a squirrel this morning that ran in front of my car while I was driving down the street. Did not cost me anything, but the squirrel paid a pretty steep price.

Let's hope there continue to be tours available at the lower price point. I have to say this has me a little concerned.
