It Seems that DCL and now DVC have gone with the new website as the rest of Disney websites...
I have mixed feelings about the new DVC website. In the past, you could compare on one page to see availability between as many resorts as you wanted to look at....
Now this option is no longer there.

What I do like is that under every resort showing / the points chart is there for you to click on.

Your thoughts on the new changes of these web sites

I really haven't given much consideration to the changes. Most web sites regularly change things up. I don't have any problems with the new site, as it's usable and I can get things done.

But honestly, I don't spend all that much time on the DVC web site. I spend a lot more time here :)

DCL and DVC are run buy the same guy, Karl Holz so that may why they changed at the same time. My guess id that Disney issued orders that all websites follow the same theme/color. Other that booking online, the old web functions were just fine. Now over 50% of the time I get error messages. Having an availability tool doesn't do much good if it isn't accurate or if it crashes.

Not a fan. The DVC one is telling me logistics and marketing info I already know - and now it's more clicks to find things. The DCL site, though, I like. I find it much easier to compare cruises/availability.

Don't like the Check Resort Avail Page (CRAP) at all.

That's not because I don't like change. It's less functional, especially on smartphones and requires too many clicks.

Disney sent me an email announcing the CRAP saying it was based on member feedback.

If Disney were truly listening to member feedback, they'd bring back the RAT (Resort Avail Tool).

"Cut the CRAP, Bring Back the RAT."

This is what you get when you let marketing people design websites -- like all Disney websites they are extremely "heavy" and performance and functionality is terrible as a result -- it's classic Disney form over function.

I like it. I was a frequent user of the Disney World site and this is similar to it. It works great, very fast and while different, gets the job done. No error messages for me.

I can understand them wanting all websites to be consistent in design.

I still cannot determine HOW to check resort availability now- it gives too wide an array of options, and to narrow, the choices are not relevant, such as other Disney entities. It is impossible on an iPad. For a while I could narrow down between select resorts that I checked and room categories, now, where is that option. Sure, pretty pretty pictures, but it takes much too long to load.

  1. Plan Vacations > Check Resort Availability
  2. Set filters across the top: Locations > "Walt Disney World", Destination Type > "Disney Vacation Club"
  3. Enter Check In and Check Out dates (14 day max range)
  4. Click Check Availability
  5. Click "(checkmark) Availability" button on each resort to expand room availability for that resort
  6. Click "Partial" or "All Dates" on room type to view availability calendar for that resort/room type -- Note: you can click back and forward to view from tomorrow through 11 months out without having to search again
  7. You can restrict results to just Studios by changing Vacation Points filter at top -- a little trial and error e.g. search 0-200 points, etc.

I stumbled on the DCL fiasco the other day. First thought was I never thought they could make it so much worse than before. For now I find it pretty useless but I haven't spent much time investigating it yet. I don't like how there is less detail in the responses I got from searches. It doesn't list all available cabin categories on the initial search, just a starting price. Some parts are better though like choosing a general cabin location on the ship.

I have yet to run across any other companies booking website that is as bloated and convoluted as Disneys. I recognize that I also haven't looked at them all but I travel fairly frequently and use quite a few every year. It's sure pretty and sure awful to use. I don't want to spend any more time than necessary to book a room, cruise or dining reservation but Disney seems to think that I have the spare time. Just awful. They seem to lose focus of the primary purpose and try to mash way too much together.

This is why I started this thread....IT IS NOT USER FRIENDLY AT ALL!

Although I have a 2015 MacBook and reliable internet service, it still takes an unreasonable amount of time for pages to load.

I get error messages often when using IE, less often when using Firefox. DVC is the only site where I have to use Firefox.

I personally like it because it is much like the Disneyworld.com site and I am used to that. I am sure it is geared more toward those that know less about DVC than most of the DISers here. I feel sure they will tweak it, but it is not going away.

I use Google Chrome and seems to work as quickly as the previous version without errors.

I was able to book some trips on line recently, and they happened without an error message, so that is an improvement.

I really don't like the changes. I much prefer being able to check resort availability the old way. It was much quicker and easier to read. I thought I had done something wrong the first time I went to check availability!!!!

I'm one of the few who actually really like the new website. It just seems so much more intuitive to me. I also don't mind the changes to the availability tool, but it seems like I never really understood how to use the old one, so perhaps my opinion is skewed.
