Just purchased our first DVC at The Villas at Grand Floridian Resort & Spa!

So excited but have so many questions. We are going for Spring Break in April. Staying in a 2 Bedroom Villa at Old Key West.

So questions:
1. Like when we rent a condo at the beach is it the same we take care of everything hand soap, dish soap cleaning the room?
2. Is it like staying at the regular resorts could we be Magically up graded? (The new Bungalows would be nice)
3. How far out can you borrow points. (Don't think we will do this much just would like to know)

Thanks in advance for any feed back!!!

Take a look at the member website, info about contracts, point usage and booking is there along with what's provided in the villas.

Consumables are provided and resupplied every 4 days.

No upgrades with DVC.

You can only borrow from your next UY into your current UY. Which UY did you buy, did you buy a fixed week?

Dish soap, dishwasher detergent, hand soap, small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, & body lotion will be provided. You won't need to bring paper towels, garbage bags or toilet paper, either. (You'll want to bring your own shampoo and personal toiletries even though they start you out with some).

The villa will be stocked with one packet of regular coffee and one decaf - these are filter coffee combo packs. If you are a coffee drinker, you'll want to bring your own coffee and filters (10-12 cup flat bottomed variety).

You don't need to clean the room when you leave and it will be clean when you arrive. Unless you are staying 8 nights or more, you will only get a mid-stay trash removal & towel exchange service while you are there. You'll need to do whatever cleaning you require yourself during your stay
.
You will find lots more info on the resorts on the Members website and there are a lot of threads about OKW here on the DVC Resorts Board. Have fun - it's a great way to pass the time waiting for that first stay.

2. Is it like staying at the regular resorts could we be Magically up graded? (The new Bungalows would be nice)
DVC members using their membership to stay do not get upgrades. (Unless one is available and you are willing to spend the points to get it). Very rarely, we will hear of an upgrade, but it is invariably due to a last minute issue at the resort - for example, a room is not available due to a maintenance issue and there are no others in that category available when you check in. I think they'd move you to a different resort before they would upgrade you from a studio to a bungalow, LOL.

You may borrow one use year ahead.

You're welcome & congratulations on your purchase. :)

If you haven't already, give this thread a read:

Understanding Use Year

Welcome HOME!

3. How far out can you borrow points. (Don't think we will do this much just would like to know)

as carol's UY link points out, "how far ahead you can book" is based on home resort.

so if i have an oct UY and want to book the night of oct 1, 2016, i can book that starting on nov 1, 2015 (11 months out). an oct 1, 2016 reservation is in my 2016 UY.

for a stay in my 2016 UY, i can used banked 2015 UY pts + current 2016 UY pts (they are current based on the dates of the stay, not when you call or go online to book) and if i needed to, i could borrow from my 2017 UY pts to complete that reservation.

Congrats on your purchase! We just bought at VGF as well in December and are staying the first time in October!

Congratulations on your purchase! We also own there and love it! Welcome home!

We also just joined VGF as first time DVC members so I just wanted to say hello and congrats fellow VGF owner! : )
