Hi! We just closed on our first DVC contract! We have 210 at GFV. So we don’t know all the ins and outs yet.
We are already looking at obtaining a transfer from someone who has xxxx points. We want to pay for my dad to come with us but don’t have enough points and he wants to stay at xxxx. If we can find someone to do a transfer can we book off of those points at 11 months? Or would we have to wait until 7 months?

The home resort booking window and use year go with the points if transferred.

Details of the resort were removed since it could be seen as a transfer wanted thread…which we do not allow.

But yes, any transferred points will retain their own home resort…and you can use them for home resort advantage.

Be aware that they don’t work online during that window so you will need to call to use them.

If you only need 24 or less points to complete your reservation, you can also purchase OTUP (One Time Use Points). These points ar $24 each (unless recently changed), can only be used at 7 month window, and cannot be banked. You would need to call Member Services to book and purchase OTUPs.

Also, don't forget that you can Borrow points from your next Use Year (UY). And depending on when your reservation is, you can first Bank your current UY points int the next year (within 4 month Banking window), and then Borrow points, giving you a potential pool of 630 points to use. Since you just purchased Direct, sometimes MS can Bank your points for you even if you are not in your Banking window anymore,

Either way enjoy your trip and create lots of memories.

Unless something has changed, Sandisw is correct. To the best of my knowledge, there is no 8 month booking window only the 7 month one which coincides with when OTU points are available

Maybe, I have never looked at banking as a window as much as a deadline.

That s why my mind went straight to the 7 months booking window ….

But I guess you could look like at banking as a window and not just a dead line to bank.
