Hey Y'all,
I first want to say I've been researching DVC for 4 years and many many many thanks to everyone here on DisBoards for helping with our stupid questions, advice, and general knowledge. I was in LA this weekend for work and decided, what Disney nut in his right mind is going to be 30 minutes from the home of the magic and not go visit Disneyland. Well I didnt have time to do a day in the parks so I thought I would wander around Downtown Disney, enjoy a beignet, and just soak up some of the magic for a few hours. I saw the DVC booth while wandering the Grand Californian (beautiful property) and decided to check out the Aulani model. My wife and I had decided a couple weeks go to buy a new contract through Disney in the 100-150pt range and then buy a second contract resale. Just worked out best for our needs. So I sat down with Anne Marie and we went over the current specials etc. She jokingly said that I was second customer to ever walk in and go "I want 100 points at AKL or OKW, I know how everything works, just tell me the specials for today." She was very nice and within 20 minutes we had the paperwork together for 100 points at AKL. Then she said "You know, You took long enough. You visited a DVC rep for the first time at SSR on April 8th, 2008...welcome home."
So long story short, my wife and I are AKL owners now. We love the theming of the resort and have no qualms about staying there all the time. Were now in the market for 100-150 on the resale at OKW / VWL / BCV, or new GFV if they don't want an arm and a leg (ha!) to add on.
Thanks again for everyones advice and opinions. Without your help this would have not been as easy as a process. Right now I'm smiling like a kid in a candy store thinking I finally own DVC.
