My in-laws added our names to two of their deeds for BLT. We just got the Welcome Home email yesterday - So excited! lol

We already had two reservations, booked using my in-laws account. (we were added after the fact) When the points are added to our new DVC online account, currently 0 - email said it would take 10-15 days, will our current reservations show up in our DVC accounts that we created? Or because it was made by my in-laws in their account, will is stay there? Just trying to figure out how managing our current reservations will go. The resort reservations are showing up in my MDE so it would just be the possibly of managing the actual resort reservation if I need to add/delete guests (DD boyfriend may not go).

Thanks!

There are too many unknowns to really answer the question, like assuming your in-laws have additional deeds it will depend upon which deeds the points for the reservation was taken, under which membership number the reservation is linked. If your in-laws had everything under one membership number, adding you to some of the deeds will generate a new membership number as they are now separate memberships legally, with separate owners. I would get in touch with DVC Member Services and Accounting for your answers.

Ahh ok. Yes, there are different variables as they do own other deeds without our names. And our two reservations were made using points from both. I will see what happens when the points are added. Then speak with member services if need be. Not a huge deal because they live with us and I can have my FIL do anything I need through their account. Thank you for your response!

I would definitely call Member Services/Accounting to make sure the existing reservations will not be cancelled when the new membership number is issued. Usually when someone sells a membership, any existing reservations are automatically cancelled, as reservations are generally tied to a specific membership number, and can not be transferred from one membership number to another.

Oh really? Hopefully that is not the case. The memberships were not sold. My in-laws just added us to the deeds. And kept their names on the deeds as well. (I had read that folks said when they added names to deeds, reservations were not cancelled. Sure hoping this is true!) All the reservations are still showing up on my FIL account, even though he is showing a new membership number for Bay Lake. I will definitely have to double check. Thank you!

When we added our kids to our membership, it was to all the deeds so we did not get a new membership number. The reservations were not impacted because the membership did not change.

However, if adding you to some contracts but not all has created a brand nee membership, then it’s no different than if it was sold to someone else,

It is possible that the reservation could be impacted. If it were me, I’d have your inlaws modify the reservation to use only the points from the contract they still own by themselves.

But, because the points will now be from two memberships they need to somehow treat it as a transfer between them to stay in a single reservation.

I would definitely reach out to MA now before anything happens with point so it can be addressed before anything is csnceled.

Spoke with DVC Member Services. He said that all our reservations will stay as they are, no issues.

Phew, I can breath now - got nervous after these comments. lol

Thank you all!

BTW if your DD’s boyfriend doesn’t go, as long as you aren’t over occupancy it’s NBD whether you delete his name or not, my son’s gf sometimes doesn’t know if or when she can go - so I just leave her on the reservation, since she tends to change her mind last minute 😂.

True, we are not over occupancy so one way or the other it won't matter. Thank you!
