New DVC Member - THRILLED!

I'm Amanda and live in GA. My husband and I recently purchased 100 pts at Animal Kingdom with what I hope was an okay deal.


Anyway, I've been reading for days now and can honestly say that you guys know EVERYTHING about DVC! I wish I had done some prework before my purchase!
We have 2 vacations pending, 1 in October (SSR wait listed BLT) and another right after the first of the year (same accommodations). I've got some questions though and hope maybe you guys can help answer? I've read for a couple of days now and wanted to throw some some of my assumptions/questions to those that know.

1) Likelyhood that I'll get my waitlist? I'm assuming not high?
2) I can buy annual passes for my dd and dh over the next few months but can activate them all at one time therefore having the same start date?
3) These deals on PAPs? How likely is it that they will come around again? If I buy AP can I upgrade? (I think so?) If they do another deal how do you get notified?
4) If my wait list clears do they email me or do I have to check every day?
5) My dd's 6 BD is the day after Christmas. She always gets screwed so this year we are going to WDW. Is there anything I can do to try and get her some special treatment? Are there any secrets?

They activate when you get the AP at WDW.

Unknown.

Yes.

Keep reading the DIS.

They should contact you but that doesn't always happen.

Just to tag onto the OPs question about upgrading:

1) if you buy an annual pass for $600 now and DVC offers the PAP for $399, can you upgrade for free?

2) was the $399 PAP also available for Disneyland or just WDW?

1. Not by the rules although some got an exception last year. A DVC annual pass is $494 now.

2. No, just WDW.
