I don't think so.
2 years ago I took a tour of a Marriot timeshare outside DLP, it was very nice but once the salesman heard we were DVC members he gave up on selling to me and concentrated on my friends. During the conversation he mentioned that as part of the lease or purchase of the Land(from Disney) there was a condition that no other Timeshare would be built in the vicinity.
Not to start trouble, but salesmen are known for stretching the truth, particularly when spinning a yarn that is to their benefit (i.e. convince people that no one else will build a time share at DLP so that customers will feel compelled to buy Marriott, and he makes a sale).
