Wow I was just looking at the cruise news and it says jeans are now permitted at dinner. My DH will be so happy. It said that there will be one Dress up night on the cruise, and of course you still have to wear dressy clothes at Palo's. I will still wear sundresses I am sure, but my hubby will like the jeans. Does anyone know about the one dress up night? Does he have to wear a jacket or tie, or is a dress shirt good enough?

I've read this a couple of times, but I have not seen any official Disney Press Release (on this or a few other announcements I have read on this board). Which website has these announcements? I feel clueless!

Thanks!

I am also really curious as well. My Dh also will be very happy, because he doesn't own that many dress up clothes. And if he could wear jeans and a nice polo shirt we would be made. I know from the news however that semiformal, formal night, and palo have not changed their dress code which is fine by me.

The OP is going on the Wonder so there has really always been just one dress up night on the 3 & 4 night cruises. I believe it says what is considered acceptable in the same post. I am pretty sure that a button down shirt is but not sure on the with or without tie thing since DH & DS always wear a suit for formal & semiformal nights. Who knows how long the change will be in effect though. We will still were resort casual for the other dinners. We all enjoy dressing up & don't get the chance to around here much.

I've confirmed this with DCL. I'm sure that if you call them you can do the same. :)

I dont mean to offend anyone here... To each his own... But I just think that part of the fun in going on a cruise is to dress up....? :confused3 Anyone else feel this way?

We went on our first cruise in October of 2003. I loved getting dressed up for dinner! I am so used to dinner out being McDonalds! It was nice to feel like I was going to a fancy restaurant every night!

You aren't offending me, but dressing up on vacation is not my idea of fun! It's time to relax for a change! To each their own! :sunny:

I feel that people should dress how they want. If you want to dress-up -- GO for it (I like to dress up!!). If you want to wear jeans---that is fine by me. To be honest, I was so busy enjoying being with family and friends at dinner that I never noticed (or cared) what anybody at other tables were wearing. :earsgirl:

I hear you! I hate dressing up on vacation. I fly in and dont need the hassle of bring tons of shoes or fancy clothes that cost more money or need more attention.

I would love to wear casual and realax!!

Did you ask about the "one" night they say 3/4 day cruise have to dress up for? which night would that be? Mabye Palo, I know.

thanks for any input.

No one should be offended by what you feel. I feel the same way. This is my first time cruising with Disney and that was one of the excitements was to dress up. My family and I never dress up. Were still going to dress up......but it's no fun when everyone who attends does not do it. Now if my kids or DH see's people with jeans on, there going to have an attitude with me :) cause I'm not going to tell them that jeans are okay. It's true when you go on vacation you want to relax ...but for seven days I think dressing up once or twice is not taking away from any relaxation. Go eat with your Suit/dress and then quickly change in your jeans and tee's. It's shouldnt' be a problem. And Annemator your right dressing up on the cruise is part of the fun to me. I love for my family to have nice pictures and I don't want to see a picture of Mickey in his tux and my husband in jeans :) Once again this is my opinion so please no one get upset......I just don't want to come in with a nice dinner dress and my neighbor has on jeans and a t-shirt :) SOME kids these days don't know anything about dressing up (like mine). Were still going to dress up

Just want to say that the cruise is what you make of it...Dressing up is part of the fun for some people, and not dressing up is part of it for others...

What is good for you, may not be good for me...No offense here, just stating that what you feel is not right or wrong. And what I feel is not right or wrong..That is strictly hypothetically speaking...

I have been wearing a uniform working for the past so many years, and just not wearing that uniform is fun for me...

I have to say that I find it EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE when people say that they do not want to be eating dinner with someone because they may or may not be wearing jeans. I have seen worse, and less dressed in fancy clothing..Your vacation (in my opinion) should be about YOUR family..

I don't think you read correctly i said, " just don't want to come in with a nice dinner dress and my neighbor has on jeans and a t-shirt " I did not say I don't want to eat with that person, so u should not be "Extremely Offended" I am a happy go lucky person and excepts anyone not matter what they have on. I just would PREFER to be next to a family that's dressed Up like mine. THAT'S ALL. IF someone comes in with HOT Shorts on and sit next to us...its okay and it's not like I am going to move my family.

But anyway ....I am excited with or without the dress code. We are going to still have fun.

Sorry if anyone else GET's Offened ....because I hope that alot of people dress up and not just my family :) Trust me my husband would prefer to wear jeans but.... and you can finish the rest :)

Have a great day :cheer2:

I called DCL today after I read about the new dress code and yes, you can wear jeans in all the dining rooms on both ship except for the adult rest. Palo. I agree with you!!! You are on vacation and a fun disney cruise ship so why should you want to dress up for dinner then change for the activites afterward. I love dressing up but for a family vacation on the disney cruise; I like to be comfortable but dress casually nice if that do means wearing jeans. She did say no bathing suits and no shorts in the dining room.

Thanks for the info MATH. I guess my DH can wear his jeans with a nice jacket and shirt :)

Hmmm!! let me think about that :) Okay maybe if my ds and dd can stand in front of him in the photos with Mickey in his Tux. :)

Way too excited about the cruise HUH!!!!

I am THRILLED! Less to pack! I hate having to pack extra 'dress' clothes, they take up so much room in the luggage and I really prefer to travel as light as possible.

math, thanks for calling to confirm. Great news.:flower1: But what about lunch? More than likely we will be in our bathing suits. Can we throw on our cover-ups (mine is always a sarong and t-shirt, DH's is a t-shirt and what?..his bathing trunks look just like shorts (any suggestions?)..DD's is a Disney terrycloth dress) and go to lunch?

Wow, I did not get this from the original post, but if you feel this way, then great..Glad to see you are open...

I love to dress up, because working 365 days a year, I do not get much of a chance to dance.. :cool1: But DH looks better than most in his jeans and shirt...

Have a great evening...It is fun to agree to disagree.. :goodvibes
