Did someone say in an earlier post that they now have the box due to a theft? Or is it back at the Swan or Dolphin? It would be a lot of fun to leave a little something for each other or meet and say hi.

Caroline, Yes, Disbug has the journal and box because of a theft! Hopefully the journal and box will return at another time.

Loubon, LOL, I will have to accept an IOU!! ;)

Happy monday to all!

I always need an excuse to go back! :hyper: I was a little disturbed that the box and journal had been left in a ziplok bag (gallon sized) and returned without them. I never expected someone to empty the contents of the box! I even left a pen and notepad in the box which was also gone. I had originally wanted to leave the box with Thabo and Mama T at the Royal Beach Club over at the Swan. But I thought that would limit access to the box. I don't believe the Concierge Mgr nor I thought there would be any problems with trust at the downstairs concierge desk. If I decide to leave it there again, it will be in a labeled ziplok bag to NOT REMOVE and I'll ask to have it filed under "S" for Sorority!

In the meantime, to leave notes for each other: go to the Concierge Desk of your resort (Swan or Dolphin) and ask to leave a note for the "Sigma Delta Sorority" and have it filed under S. They will give you a note card and an envelope (or bring your own)! You can also check for messages this way. If you want to exchange a small something, bring a small manila envelope and leave it filed under Sigma Delta Sorority.

Sorry for the current inconvenience! Happy Day to all.... back to my "real" job today!:p

...have resumed breathing this morning!! Breathing stopped last night but our Pats never give up! But they do give us cause to hold our breaths.

Patriot Nation is celebrating! :bounce: :hyper:

I am off to an overnight conference...

Also today...YEAH PATS!!!
What a nail-biter...to the very end! It was agonizing, but was one of the BEST Superbowls in recent memory. Much better than the RAMS game! :teeth:

Disbug~~
What happened at the Concierge desk? Did you speak with the manager/security in regards to this trouble? I missed the initial post with the details, and was concerned by other posts alluding to some problems with the "box" and/or contents. Maybe we should invest in a little "lock-box" with a # lock, and all of us could bring the combination with us (as opposed to a key, etc). This way, it would remain secure...and all of us could have private access to the contents. Sound good?

mousteacher~Where are you traveling to (for the overnighter) and staying? Stay safe, and enjoy yourself. The weather channel "NBS" (Nothing but storms) in the eastern region. Take the proper precautions...and have a great time! You'll probably be more safe than most, as you'll be walking ON the CLOUDS (GO PATS!!), as opposed to under them (Panther fans). ::yes::

TAX TIME is here....time to get it all together! :sunny:

**Dreaming of the DOLPHIN/SWAN...and the times we'll share together this summer. Planning, and wishing, is such a part of the adventure. My countdown clock is moving, slowly...but surely!

TTFN.. HAVE a GREAT WEEK!! :wave2:

Okay ladies,
I have Dolphin questions and I'm coming to the experts for the answers. I just booked my first solo stay there using the teacher rate.

1) I know they are in the process of renovating. Does anyone know how it's coming. I would love one of those fancy beds!

2) Where are some quick places to eat?

3) Anyother tips/hints/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Melissa

We love to answer questions and I know more than one of us will post a reply for you!

1) Rooms are being renovated in reverse of the floors with the new heavenly beds (last I heard). Not sure, but I think the beds are going in from bottom to top and room remodeling is being done top to bottom...I stayed on the 8th floor and had a renovated room and a heavenly bed. I think they were trying to satisfy most people at once and that seemed the smartest solution. (*Someone else will post with which direction they are going!)

2) Quick places to eat? Tubbis is a cafeteria, the Lobby Lounge area in both hotels have muffins, coffee and pastries in the AM. Over at the Beach Club Resort, Beaches and Cream has wonderful Sandwiches, Burgers, and Edy's Ice Cream. The Dolphin Soda Fountain is the same type of atmosphere.

3) For elegance and gourmet fare try Todd English's "Blue Zoo" which is newly opened at the Dolphin. Many people also like "Palio's" for Italian and "Shula's Steakhouse" for a great steak. These restaurants are on the pricey side, but have been reported to be "worth it" if having a divine meal is important to you!

4) Boardwalk Bakery has some wonderful looking items. I could imagine strolling along the Boardwalk with a cup of hot coffee and a divine pastry or croissant! (Anybody miss those chocolate croissants at the Royal Beach Club???):hyper:

Somebody else's turn... to impart knowledge!

3rd floor. renovated room, heavenly bed. :teeth:

chocolate croissants=yummy:teeth:

Melissa ~ I think Disbug just about covered it :) I will check on renovations when I am there .... :teeth:

The Dolphin fountain is a great place to get ice cream and burgers. Tubbis also has pizza! Which works out great to take up to the room for a late night snack.

I am beginning to think about packing. I have been looking at the past history weather averages. It looks like we may be ok in shorts with a sweatjacket for cool mornings and nights. I will also put a couple of pairs of pants in for everybody, just in case. :) My DH says he will wear shorts as long as it is above 30, but my girls might not feel the same way. :)

Dreamflight ~ Are you making it to the Summer S/D meet after all ?

Maybe.., I'm the Sigma Delta MYSTERY GUEST! (LOL) ~Lord knows, I'm going to TRY my BEST! Are you going? :hyper:

The last time I called the Dolphin to inquire about renovations (a few weeks ago), I was told they would be complete by August. There are so many different places to choose from to eat, between the BoardWalk, Swan and Dolphin, it will be very hard to decide where to go! One of our favorites for an early dinner, to sit and watch the sun go down, is the Big River Grille & Brewery on the Boardwalk. Their burgers are delicious and it is always enjoyable sitting outside on a nice evening.

Even if you are not a sushi lover, Kimonos has a selection of appetizers, and it is a lot of fun to watch or join in the karaoke singing that starts at about 9 each evening. (Kids do the entertaining until about 10, then the adults take over.)

I think I miss the Royal Beach Club more than anything at the Swan. I've heard from Thabo finally (what a guy) and says he is looking forward to seeing us in March/April - but also told me they are getting stricter with granting Club privileges. (I already have mine reserved, thank goodness!)

Disbug - did you firm up your plans for the concert your daughter is in the weekend of the 2nd? There are a few people staying at the Swan that weekend I saw on another board - "Who's Going in April".

Still can't commit to the July trip - but keep me as a maybe!

Well, we got out of the deep freeze and into 8 inches of snow. After 2 hours plus of shoveling and blowing snow every inch of my body aches.   Should have known winter would arrive with a vengance as soon as DH left!

I keep paging back to thread pages where I have posted just so I can sit and stare at my counter. I know - I'm pathetic.

To stay on topic:

RE- places to eat!

I will second Tubbi's. The atmostphere is not as cute as the Dolphin Fountain but the food is very good - don't forget to purchase your refillable mug for soda and a wonderful souveneir.

A short walk to the Boardwalk will take you to the ESPN Zone - eat in the booths in the bar area and get game controllers so the kids can play video games while you wait for your food. I always ordered the Nachos appetizer and that was my full meal - very good bargain. Great taste! Kids meals are kind of pricey in my opinion for the quantity, but DD was happy with her pasta.

If you can leave the hotel area with a car, we headed to Steak N Shake, Chick FilA & Waffle House at various times.

 does Thabo float between the resorts...or is he only at the Swan now? How does one get in touch with him....I have something to ask (not specifically Thabo, but anyone at the Dolphin CL) beofre our March trip.

Dreamflight ~ I cannot make the meet this summer. No way can DH watch the 5 kiddos. :) I wished I could though and will be there in thought.

Jgates ~ I hope winter is over for you soon. :) My kiddos are wanting some snow around here sooooooo bad. We have a slight chance on Friday. We have not seen our first flake here this winter. :earseek: We are hoping to see some on Friday.

Madge ~ Did I hear someone say chocolate croissants they are also my favorite. :teeth:

RobMax ~ Thanks for the instacam link. I like looking at it, wishing I were there..... :earseek:

Mouseteacher ~ Congrats to the "Pats" :hyper:

Let's see to keep us on topic....and a real question, Can I cash checks at the front desk for cash? I don't like to take a lot of $$ with me and I have not bought travelers checks yet ?

Hello to everyone else, Waving to the room

yum.....

Mom Poppins, are you still planning on upgrading your passes to APs? I hope it goes well for you! Your trip is sooo close!!

~...and you know, you'll always be right there with me...in prayer, thought and heart. One of these days, we'll get together! You are such a remarkable woman (mom, wife, daughter, friend, S~SISTER...etc.), wish you lived closer to WDW. :sunny:

*YES! You can definitely cash checks at the front desk. No problemo...I've done this in the past too. Even though I usually bring travelers checks...I still enjoy using some $$$ in my checking. So, I always bring checks, and cash some at the front desk. Hope this helps. ;)

mouseteacher~WOW...I was stunned to see the Mayhem which broke-out in the Boston Streets after the Victory on Sunday. :( Someone was shot, and others were injured. There were cars overturned and storefronts destroyed. I have never understood this mentality. The same thing has occurred here, when the Lakers have won the championship...or the Raiders have lost, etc. Makes me all the more certain I'll always stay INSIDE during any of these sporting events, and urge DD to do the same. ::yes::

Glad to read your DS's were "HOME" enjoying the time with family. I'm sure there was plenty of celebrating going on after the last moments of the game (A real "breathing-challenge"...LOL).

Enjoy the DAY!

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

Thanks Dreamflight... you are pretty remarkable yourself and the "queen" of our thread :)

Madge ~ I do not plan on upgrading our passes from the 7 day hopper. I do not see us taking another trip this year. I wished we could though, I would love to go back this summer. :)

I found the cutest red Mickey fleece pullovers today for WDW! It's time to get out the suitcases soon.

DF~ Thanks for your kind words about a safe overnight trip. I was attending my commission meeting for our regional accrediting associaton. I was only 45 minutes away from home. Our weather is fine here. We are expecting a slushy mix tonight.

It is truly upsetting what our college students do...such a senseless, tragic death. I did hear Tom Brady at the end of the game ask everyone to not riot in the streets and to stay safe. Unfortunately, the Northeastern U. students didn't listen. The police and the mayor's office are investigating. The college officials in the city are trying to figure out more ways to combat this mentality.

I certainly hope, dear DF, you will be there at our meet. What would we do without our "inspirational leader" there?

I am getting a little more confident that we can do this July trip. Even DH doesn't want to be left behind. :D

:wave2: Mouseteacher! Glad to read everything went fine on the overnighter. ::yes:: Stay warm...things look frosty on the weather channel (my LINK to the EAST...LOL).

Hopefully, the authorities can think of ways to prevent such occurrences in the future. What a darned shame. Where (in the future) do these kids intend to go? I NEVER even thought of doing such things while in college, let alone "join-in" with the crowd. Makes you wonder about their home-life, and upbringing.

I'm so happy you are planning to be there in July. I'll do my best to trek to the Dolphin during one those dates, and we'll do the things we've always dreamed of doing (relaxing pool~side...chatting, laughing) as SISTERS! Thanks for the affectionate moniker (inspirational leader). :goodvibes:

*DH too? Your time on this thread must be "rubbing-off" on him...LOL. :teeth:

MOM POPPINS~QUEEN? princess:   You are too kind! This thread provides more than mere tips and hints...it offers heartfelt connections between one another. Stopping by here ALWAYS makes my day brighter! Thanks again...for another SMILE. ;)

:wave2:

We don't belong on page 2. Have a great day all. Continuing my planning for my first stay at the Dolphin.
