ON TOPIC: You can check DU on line for the Swan Dolphin without any obligation. Just go to the main page, find the link and put in your dates and type of discount. I just checked a few days ago and the teacher discount was available around Easter.

I found out that they are now offering the discount to other school personnel. I've been subbing for about a month now so I am eligible for the discount! Woo Hoo.

Off:
Sigh of relief for Muffy and Mom Poppins. You've been in my prayers. MomP - make sure your attorney has made provisions for any follow-up testing. When I worked in the lab, I knew the protocols but are most likely different now. Also, make sure that proper "chain of custody" is carried out for any future lab work. Pm me if you have any questions.

Lauren - glad to read that your mom is comfortable and able to be with your for Thanksgiving.

Quick update: I really don't want to burden anyone with my baby's blood testing issues but wanted to keep you guys posted. I received a certified letter from the doctors office with a copy of her blood results and an apology. The problem is the name on the blood test is different than the name I heard them refer to the lady the day I was in the office. The other problem is if you remember I stated this lady was older like in the 70 to 80 range. I was told by the doctor "she has been doing this for more than 60 years". On the bloodwork papers it states her age as 59!!!! I am stumped now, different name, age? What is going on here? I called my attorney, he said he would get to the bottom of it, to sit tight. I want to see a picture of this lady they drew blood from, I asked for a copy of her drivers license but was not provided with it... sorry ladies and men but I felt like I could vent here and let you know... at least I KNOW I gave Baby Kirk's blood and he is negative. He will have foolow up in 6 months.

Dreamflight ~ Have a great time in Disneyland :)

Disbug ~ I can't wait to hear about your trip when you return, we want all the scoop :teeth:

Have a good weekend everyone

MOM POPPINS Thank you for the update on baby Kirk I hope you get to the bottom of things soon.

Dreamflight99 Have a great trip to DL never been hope to some day.

GoofitUp Have a great trip.

Hi to everyone have a great weekend.

:wave2: back at you, poohbear7! :D

MomP~ I find the discrepency quite concerning - do make sure your lawyer is on top of it. I sure hope they are not trying to pull one over on you - how unethical that would be and from a MD office - a profession we place our utmost trust in.

On topic ~ :) I got this email today from Starwood:

"You’re invited to enjoy a complimentary weekend night after five consecutive paid nights at a participating Starwood hotel or resort.
Then just pay with your American Express® Card and stay between December 1, 2003, and March 31, 2004. You can earn up to two complimentary weekend nights to use on a future vacation any time from January 5 through June 30, 2004."

The question is will I be able to earn 2 free nights with my 10 night stay in March. Can the free nights be earned with only one stay of 10 nights, or will have to check out and check back in :teeth:

 Robin

My attorney is trying to obtain her picture so I can view it. Crossing my fingers its her.

1. Where are you guys and why has this thread slipped to page 2. I am ashamed of us!!!! I'll DF off the hook as she is probably giving Mickey that hug right now.

2. MomP - if it isn't one thing its another! Don't let ANYTHING slip through the cracks.

What can I say to keep on topic? I believe there are Dreams Unlimited links on some of these pages so you could link from here to find the rate availabilities online.

Will someone please remind me next summer to ask for robes? I didn't think of it once last year!!!

:wave2: Good morning, sorority house!

DF and Disbug are in the magic - lucky them.

MomP~ thanks for the info. I will be staying at Starwood hotels in December and April but it won't be 5 consecutive nights - darn it! I have one night at the Westin Copley Place in December and 4 nights at the Sheraton Boston in April.

Keep posting your updates on baby Kirk.

ww52, Loubon and RobMax - where have our sorority bros been lately? Miss ya! :teeth:

PRESENT!

(That's one for all you teachers!)

A belated Good Morning to alll...

I'm hoping when Disbug comes back will get a date for our get together in July (don't think it's been decided yet.) I'm trying to talk DH into going during the summer months....His arguement is that we are pretty much out of DVC points...but alas...I have more Starwood points to use....HAHA!! So, we won't have to pay cash for everynight...

:teeth: Attendance taken and marked present, Loubon. Nicely done - raising your hand is an acceptable classroom practice.

ZW~July is pretty flexible for DH and me to travel. The inflexible part is our budget... we'll see--- I'm wishing and dreaming. :genie: :wizard:

*room wave* and a welcome all new posters!

Swan v. AKL.... the post everyone has been waiting for! (Ok, maybe only two of you!:)

Swan.... great view! great location! Can you say heavenly beds?

AKL... Great view! Animals outside our balcony! Can you say motrin in the morning?

I really missed my heavenly bed when I drove across the state for our trip. Maybe I have been spoiled by my own mattresses, plus my recent stay at a Westin, but I don't know why the Deluxes won't upgrade their mattresses!

Boma was fantastic and we loved their food, but I really appreciated the restaurant selection between the Swan/Dolphin resorts, plus the boardwalk! We also had some late night beverages at Victoria falls lounge. Great theming!

Theming can't be beat at AKL. I wouldn't say it is a Disney v nonDisney either. The theming just is spectacular at AKL. Windows/railings/floors were even gorgeous!

CMs at both locations are wonderful. We were upgraded at AKL to a savannah view. At the Swan I had already paid for concierge but was able to keep my "wanted" balcony with a view of epcot view and still keep my concierge level of services.

Grotto pool blows the AKL pool away. AKL pool was nice, and the theming lovely, but the grotto theming is just over the top! ALAS, the grotto pool does not have flamingoes behind it and my mom LOVES flamingoes! Every morning we would go out and see how they were doing before we left for the parks.

Both rooms were nice, but our Swan room was nicer. I especially loved the sink in the bathroom and one outside of the bathroom. We were only two adults so there wasn't a fight over bathroom mirrors! Both rooms had a full size iron and ironing board. Both views were nice for different reasons. I have to admit that I never woke up before sunrise to stare at the epcot ball, but I was up both mornings before sunrise to see what animals were outside my balcony!

Turn down service was the norm at both resorts. I found out that my mother had never requested or had turndown service in her life. I made the quick phone call to guest services to make sure it was done for her! No towel animals, but her turkey-pooh was tucked in the covers with a lovely giraffe proverb card.

For different reasons, both resorts were great!

GO Wings! Love ya, mean it!
Debbie

PS So glad to see that everyone is healthy, wealthy (there are all kinds of wealth!), and wise! Have a great Saturday night!

Great review!! I haven't stayed at either resort (or any WDW resort for that matter), but we may be staying at the Swan in 2005 for the location and possible discounts.

:wave2:

Good morning, all! Happy Sunday and happy beginning of Thanksgiving week. A short work week for me -
two and half days! Thanksgiving dinner is at my cousin's house. Our plan is to head to No. Conway, NH to the family condo - the beautiful White Mtns. - on Friday and stay through Sunday. Please share your Thanksgiving plans with the sisters and bros.

::yes:: Thanks, Debbie for the review. DH and I visited the AKL on our July trip. I was intrigued by the theme - I do love animals! However, I just can't give up the location of the S/D and , yes, I agree, the number of restaurant choices in the direct vicinity is another draw for us... our always favorite - the Yachtsman Steakhouse and our new fav Pailo's. Maybe a split stay one day! :D

Check this out over at the Community Board - by Dan Murphy - "My pics of WDW from April" --- a great slideshow and it features beautiful pics of the S/D.

Good Morning everybody.....I think I'll go check out Dan's post ...I need a fix....

Good morning everyone!

Hockeymom, thanks for the review of AKL. I agree with everything you said! The S/D does have more dining options. We will be trying Palios for the first time on 1/1 at 6:00pm! Please tell me which veal dish you LOVED. They have several on their menu!

Mouseteacher, Your Thanksgiving day trip to N. Conway, NH sounds great! Hope you have a wonderful time with your family. Don't forget to visit those incredible shops in N. Conway the day AFTER T.giving!;) I can only imagine the deals.

We are having Thanksgiving home. DS and his GF are coming for dinner from Boston/Medford. I will be roasting a fresh turkey with sausage corn bread stuffing! For dessert I have ordered a pecan pie, pineapple pie AND I'm making Texas brownies. Have to serve my family's favorites on Thanksgiving! We will be sending over dinner for an elderly couple that live alone in our town and in need of help right now. A big part of the holidays for us is helping others.

Thanks for your suggestion to share Thanksgiving plans! I look forward to reading more!

Muffy

Good Sunday Morning :)

We will be having Thanksgiving dinner here at our home. It will be Me, DH, 4 DD's and 1 DS :) His first Thanksgiving :teeth: My older Sister her 3 boys (18,16 and 13) My younger Sister and her husband and their 2 boys (10, 9) and finally my Mom and Dad. My parents will bring the Turkey and Dressing and my sisters and I will prepare the sides and desserts. This will be the first year that my Mom and Dad's parents have all passed on, so now that generation is now all gone. It's makes me really think about the "circle of life." Our days on earth are truly numbered and we need to take advantage of each breath we take and each minute we can spend with those we love. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. We also have a short week here, the girls are out of school after Tuesday.

Hi all...spent yesterday Christmas shopping in St. Louis. Still in the 70s here. :sunny:
We will be going to my brother's home in St. Louis for Thanksgiving. My DSIL is here from Seattle right now. But she is in Champaign this weekend, visiting her old college haunts at the U of IL.
I have to work til Wed noon, but we have parent conferences :chat: until 8:30 Mon and 7:30 Tues. Kids are out after Mon. Long days for us.
Glad you and your mom had a good trip, Deb. I knew you would like Boma's. You are right about the restaurants. AKL is sort of out of the 'loop', as lovely as it is. And busses everywhere. Did you use the busses or a car? The convenience of S/D is really hard to pass up, as are the rates. :earsgirl:
Muffy, so proud of you to help out on the holidays! I knew this was a great bunch of sisters!:goodvibes

I just booked Dolphin for our first night prior to our 5 day stay at BWV. I was excited to use the new $99 rate. I have a couple of questions:

Does the extra $25 for the rollaway apply for a child?

Will they transfer luggage to BWV for us like other WDW resorts?

Thank You.

Vicki

:wave2: Hi, VickiVM~I believe the $25 charge is for the rollaway no matter who is using it. The S/D will transfer luggage to another resort - please check with the bell captain. I hope you enjoy your stay.
