We used our SPG points yesterday (5 days out) to purchase the CL. The cost was 1,500 a night. I asked why it wasn't the 1,000 or the 1,250 that Starwood had quoted to me as recent as 2 months ago and was told that was the new rate. Go figure!

We have never stayed at the Dolphin so have no idea on what to expect from the Club Level and their "unrenovated" rooms. Wanted a renovated room for the newness and for my wife to experience the "Heavenly Bed". We can live without it but it would have been nice.

I faxed our additional room request today so.......we'll just have to see what we get Sunday night. Worse comes to worse...we'll be on the Club Level and...at WDW!!!! (Not too bad!)

Just called and James was not in yet. The Dolphin Club Level has not been renovated yet. The person I spoke with said that you can't get Club Level unless you are on the Club Level. When I mentioned I had used my SPG points, she said that due to being a Starwood member they may allow us to do that. Any ideas on what to do know?

Thanks for everyone's help!

it's all water under the bridge now, but if it was me (and it was several weeks ago :) ), I would have waited until check-in for the upgrade. I resisted the urge to do anything to my reservation until I got to the Dolphin and spoke to someone at the desk. I kept my newly renovated room with a balcony and view, and was correctly charged 1000 points per night for the CL access. By waiting, I was able to see if I could get a complimentary SPG gold upgrade of some sort. When that didn't happen, I used my points.

I had the points and needed to use them. Oh well!

Any advice on how to ask for the renovated room with CL privs? Or, on a specific room or area to request?

THANKS!

Kapp ~ I would still ask again at check-in you never know unless you ask. I still think you have a good chance of getting a renovated room and club level. ****Sending Pixie dust your way*******

I took Baby Kirk to the new Doctor this morning. The doctor was very nice and understanding. He was not comfortable drawing blood from a baby so small, so he sent me over to a local hospital. I had doctors orders so they had to do the blood draw. The lab tech found Baby Kirk's vein on the first try, so that was a relief. Yes, I did have to ask if she knew what to do if she got herself first. I am sure I will ask this question everytime I have or my children have blood drawn. The blood test should be back in 2 days and then he will have a follow-up blood test in 6 months. Thanks for your prayers of support.

Muffy ~ I am still thinking about you too :)

do you get all of the usual Club Level privleges like the robes, turn down service, etc. even if not on the Club Level floor?

THANKS to everyone for all of their advice and support!

We have a 9-night reservation at the Swan. If, for some reason, we want to check out before the 9 nights are up, will we still have to pay for the entire stay? or will they pro-rate a refund?

I don't even know if one pays for the entire visit upon check-in, as one does at WDW resorts, but I'm assuming that's the case.

Anyway, I'm hoping we won't want to check out earlier than planned, but in case we do, I'd like to know what the possibilities are.

TIA --miffy--

of course, everyone's experience might be different....we had turndown service each night, and no robes.

I took the tray that the ice bucket sits on and filled it each day with breakfast and took it back to the room. I learned that trick years ago from Mama T....

I don't know any other way to ensure a refurbished room, other than to ask for it. I didn't request it--our reservation was for a balcony, resort view. I checked www.spg.com each day, right up until the morning we left. Our reservation online never showed that we were in a refurbished room. I asked if I could keep the room and use the points, and was cheerfully told it wasn't a problem.

DARN!!~Since I opt to stay "off" the club level floor (but WITH the CL privs), I was only presuming. I guess they are on the 8th floor, and working their way up the entire resort. With the SWAN, they began on the CL, then progressed to other floors.

I would hold-out until you arrive, and ask the desk associate directly for "CLUB LEVEL PRIVS", with a preferred view, renovated balcony room! If you ask in a concise manner, sometimes....you get your wish. ::yes:: Keep the faith, and think positive thoughts. The regular rooms are not too shabby (not-yet-renovated rooms), and you should be very comfortable there. If you stay on another flloor, with CL privs...you merely call Housekeeping, and the ROBES will be sent to your room. You should also receive turn-down service, if not...just call and it will be noted.

Madge is RIGHT-ON about the tray under the ice-bucket! I use this method too...compliments of Denise & Mama T. It's the easiest manner to transport goodies back to your room to enjoy.
Sometimes, I would stay and partake of the CL lounge, other times...I would retreat to my suite to relax a bit more with the tray of goodies in tow. It's all up to you.

I'm sure you will have a lovely time at the Dolphin. :sunny:

Mom Poppins...~So glad to read things are progressing (and they found B-Kirk's vein on the first try). The stress of the situation must be weighing on you and your family something terrible. My DH and I talked about it while out for our walk last evening. He agreed, he would be beside himself in this situation. Hopefully, they can get a "baseline" on Jr.'s blood, (which should reflect any problems). DH knew they would have to test again in 6 months. What a darned shame this whole thing is for you and your loved ones, and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

The Girls are thinking of doing another getaway this year....last year was a cruise to Cozumel.....well I was wondering does anybody have any experience with Starwood properties or resorts in Mexico, or Florida, or any other warm area (other then S/D):smooth: Maybe I could earn extra points...with a stay at a Starwood property....

Love Ya, Mean it

Lots has happened while I have been away. Many prayers and tons of *~*~*~ PD *~*~*~ for MomP and Muffy. I am thinking about both of you with very positive thoughts!:D

I will be visiting WDW from November 21-29 ... over Thanksgiving. I was just wondering who else from this thread will be there then?

It is wonderful to be a part of such a loving and caring group of peiple. :grouphug:

Last December when I stayed at the Swan ... I had a balcony room with CL privileges. I just called the front desk (as per DF99's advice) and requested robes. They were in the room when I returned later that day.:D

:wave2: Hi, Kelli - Have a wonderful trip. I wish I could say I would be there the same time as you...but, not so. I have stayed at WDW during the week of Thanksgiving and thoroughly enjoyed it. We (my immediate family - 14 strong!) stayed at he BWI and had our Thanksgiving dinner at the Flying Fish. The Christmas decorations started to pop up at the resort during the week.

Mom Poppins~ glad to hear that you are doing somewhat better and you are on a proactive track in getting the answers your way. Good for you.

Muffy~How are you doing?

ZW~ can't answer about Mexico and Florida but I know what you mean about getting starwood points. I'm staying at a Westin and Sheraton in December and April respectively...want those points!!

This is partially on topic! A great deal of our enjoyment of the Club Level comes from the efforts of our wonderful Mama T and Thabo. What do you all think of chipping in to make one or both of them a mug as a gift? I know, that I am willing since I have stayed and felt I really didn't get a chance to do more than express my gratitude with words! I would be willing to deliver them myself and thereby forego the shipping charges. So if two mugs are about $30, I will donate $15 or whatever the remainder is. Anyone who wants to donate towards these just drop me a PM and thank you! This would be a very touching Christmas gift for them I bet! (Now I need to PM Loubon to modify the "Sorority Mug" to Add..."Sorority Brother"!) Hey, then the Sorority Bros. can have one, too! :cool1:

I got my results from the biopsy and it is benign! I took my first deep breath when I hung up the phone. You would not believe the relief I am experiencing right now. I will look at my family with new eyes after this scare... I will never take my health or anything for granted again. Thank you everyone for your concern! My wish is that all of you do not take your health for granted either. An abnormal mammogram could pop up for any one of us (sisters) on this thread. We must all be vigilant...

Love,
Muffy
