Hi everyone-

Things here in WDW and at the Dolphin are fantastic! We are having a great time, despite the large crowds!

Went to Epcot today, and then for a long swim in the fabulous grotto pool- CL is excellent, Thabo has made our stay extra special, he is so sweet and kind, I hope his managment know what a gem they have. I will certainly inform them just in case.

The heavenly beds are just that-heavenly!! I have slept like a rock ever since we moved to this room.

Hope you all are well, Zurgswife- I am sending you extra wellness pixie dust- you all sound like your house needs it!

Have a great night everyone- so long from the house of Mouse!!!

LOU....think you can help me with this? Maybe SHRINK it, and then I could replace the Disney Logo with it? PLEASE...pretty, pretty...please?!? :hyper: puckerup: :wizard: :goodvibes

Holiday Barb & the rest - Thanks for the Cincy food tips! Even if we did get way off topic! And I do want to add - we do LOVE to eat at Waffle House- I re-read my comment and it sounded critical but we actually enjoy that early 70's time warp decor and a good serving of grits! On the trip to Florida last year my DS even VOLUNTARILY pulled into Waffle House TWICE. The last two trips to the TStacks we were at the Super 8 about 11 miles south on the Interstate - comfortable, acceptable and cheap - my mom liked that one cause WH was close!!! This time the Hampton should just be way more convenient. I booked it about the first day I saw the dates open up but evidently missed that we have a King & fold-out. We will survive. This trip became extremely abbreviated - I was supposed to have all week off but now am not off until 5 tomorrow - so we drive as far as we can and leave on Saturday and hopefully get back as far as Joliet or so (gee- there's a casino 3 miles from that hotel - imagine :p :p :p ). Then its a fairly short drive home on Sunday. Both of our boat trips are on Friday - the Majestic for the Parade Cruise and the ?Belle of Louisville for the Sara Lee Desert Sampler Cruise (late nite). I see again that the Majestic has Shrimp Cocktail for the Parade Cruise - We always take a photo of the beautiful plates of food we get on the Majestic!

I am doing a big switch and doing only my digital camera on this trip. I don't even know where my 35 mm is right now (which does worry me!!) so I'll do digital and DD will do B & W in the advantix camera. I'll cross my fingers and hope I don't regret it. Once I have software loaded on this new PC when I return I will post a few boat pictures.

What can I say to keep on topic? If your WM stores still carry the Tide/etc soap tablets they work great for carrying along to do your laundry at the Dolphin. More economical than buying laundry detergent there and travel so easily.

Zurgs- hope DD is feeling 100% by the time I get back. Talk to you guys Sunday or Monday nite!

disfanrn! Glad your trip has become so magical! It makes us all feel good when we know one of "our own" is having fun in the magic!

mompopns! Glad to see such adorable pics of Baby Kirk. He is adorable!

zurgwife! Woman you are under siege lately! I hope whatever bug is at work, is found and erradicated! Tell Zurg to use his super laser dematerializer blaster! There be aliens afoot!

dreamflight99! I forgot to subscribe to the thread after posting about Buyers Remorse. Where the heck is it? (PS I started my trip report, but haven't got to the James Sigma Delta part, or the Dollphin part. That is coming, soon I hope!)

mouseteacher! How is the conference coming? I know planning can be half the fun and all of the exasperation! Good luck on the next game of the champ series. It is a real nail biter in our house!:hyper:

madge! Welcome back! I have started my trip report. Pop in and let me know when and where you guys were! I was looking for you!

robmax! Hi, don't know you.. but nice to meet you. Any friend of the Sigma Delta's is a friend of mine! Loved the Dreamflight logo and don't you know it, DD99 will have it in her siggie today (with Lou's help!)::yes::

#1 HM!:wave2: Here's to good practices this week and no headaches! I love the emails between your class and Lou. Very special. His 911 tribute was a really wonderful piece!

Thanks to all who have made such nice comments on my trip reports to date. Thank you for your patience. I am methodical and prefer to go in order (except for souvenirs, of course!) ozzie, I have yours... I just have to find it in the middle of 500 dig pics!

NOW totally off topic: I am leaving for Pittsburgh on Friday morning for a week. Staying at the Westin Convention Center and Omni William Penn. Any suggestions for what I should see, visit? Restaurants, etc...? Any and all will be appreciated!

 To the sorority house and Brothers!

madge! Welcome back! I have started my trip report. Pop in and let me know when and where you guys were! I was looking for you!

well, we really were all over the place, especially after we got the APs :)

without my notes, I can tell you that we were at Epcot every day of our trip, except October 5. Most of the time it was in the afternoon, and at the World Showcase. Carter loved doing the masks (he made 3 of them) and passport, so that's where we were. Sunday-Thursday at 5:45 or 7PM we could be found at the Off Kilter stage ::yes:: eating fish and chips....became sort of tradition for us, LOL! The night I think I saw you was either Wednesday or Thursday--probably Thursday. It was before it got dark, near (where else? LOL...) Canada.

On Friday, we had a late checkout at the Dolphin. We were at the pool until around 3:30, then we loaded up the stuff and headed to MGM. I was in the lobby on and off from 3-4pm. I looked for you, but it was D-E-A-D in that lobby, especially after that convention.

I can't wait to go back, but the next trip I am not allowing my youngest to bring home the same souvenir. SHe has rotovirus, that she picked up while at WDW. yuck, yuck....day 10 of nasty-smelling diapers. Thankfully it hasn't really gotten her down, it could have been much worse.

The original plan was to go back around the first part of December, if I could get the airfare to work out....life is getting in the way, so I doubt that is going to happen. I did speak to Amamnda at Guest Services--fixing Scotty's Annual Pass is going to be a snap, yay!

I can't wait to see! I am really jealous....DH is the construction manager (for the US Army COrps of ENgineers) for the McAlpine Lock project in Louisville, and he has seen quite of few of the boats lock through his job in the past several days...

I'll be on the Belle of Louisville in December--DH work party is there this year. Nice boat, but I really am partial to the Delta Queen. My grandmother took many cruises on that beautiful boat.

on topic--sort of--there is a nice Westin in Downtown Cincinnati. The Swan is a Westin :teeth:

Disbug - we lived just north of Pittsburgh for a few years. Here's a link for things to do.

http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/portal/tourism.html

I can personally vouch for the Zoo, the river boat cruises and the Incline. (great at night, especially) FYI: there's also an IKEA store near the airport if the Shoppingbug bites the Disbug.

When we lived there, we also had a VIP tour of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood set. Since he has passed away, I wonder if they saved any of it at one of the local museums. I hope you have decent weather next week. Today, we are hit with 50 mph winds and Pittsburgh is probably experiencing some of this storm.

Have fun. I miss it there! (even though I cried for the first 6 months!) But, that probably had more to do with having a 3 month old and an 18 month old with no family around :(

The same - bug - the same to you.

I am attempting to keep myself away from the old rants on marketing that caused many non-SD thread people to become irritated with me - but that is no promise ... there may soon be another on the way ... LOLROF

I was looking at my tags - did I lose a bunch of posts?

And among other things that interest me (and the fact that S&D are one of the best places to stay for this!!!)

Thank you ROB, for FINDING this Logo....

and to LOU for PM-ing me with the version you see below!!
You two are the BEST!! :goodvibes

What the heck happened to the CUBS last eve? Who the heck was the idiot whom tipped the ball in the stands Grappling for a souvie? He threw the kharma...and the game went in the can!!
Sure L@@KED like interference to me! ::yes::

Disbug...the thread is back up on page one! :sunny:

madge~What did I tell you about Scotty's pass? No trouble! :teeth:

Isn't LATE CHECK-OUT heavenly? It's one of the BEST perks of these NON-DISNEY (Thank GOODNESS) properties! The Disney-owned resorts BOOT you out by 11:00. They did away with their old extension of one hour (noon) for the old late check-out, after 9/11. I'm not even AWAKE by this time! (LOL...let alone packed and ready to go anywhere!). I always schedule my departing flights for LATE eve, and my arrving flights for early morning...as I'm EAGER to ARRIVE, and SLOW to LEAVE. :wave2:

Hi RobMax -
I began posting on this thread right aound the end of May. Glad to meet you, in a cybersense.

Good to have another "honorary brother" to the Sigma Delta sorority. When the ladies began talking of themselves as like a sorority, I casually suggested Sigma Delta as a natural fitting name. Did it ever take off! Soon there were logos designed (that's where Lou got involved) and talk of a sorority meet and probably t-shirts and ball caps next.

Right now my family is debating a trip back to the Swan in February (my wife is reluctant) after spending a great vacation there this past August.

And I am very stressed out over my Cubs (Lauren - how are you taking this??) and trying to stay positive. I keep saying to myself "I ain't 'fraid of no ghosts" (or goats).

Just hoping for a Red Sox win today to maybe inspire the Cubs.

Bill

Now you are going to get me off topic too!!!

Looked to me like the product (baseball) was complaining about the customer (fans) again when that happened. Rules like this take the focus off of what important (the fans' experience at the game) and will be the death of baseball. If a fan can reach it with a hand, that's just part of the game...and it wasn't an issue before players became primadonnas. LOL

Dreamflight ~ Your new logo looks great ::yes::

WW52 ~ I hope you can talk your wife into a trip in February. I have not even left yet and trying to talk DH into another trip next December. Always trying to plan ahead.... :)

Glenn ~ The Flower and Garden festival look like so much fun. We have yet to visit WDW in April/May. I hope your plans workout for another trip to the magic :D

Disbug ~ Keep the reports coming
:earseek:

Zurgswife ~ Congrats on the DVC, I hope DD is feeling better soon. I would like to learn more about DVC but I have no idea where to start..any suggestions. :)

Disfanrn ~ Glad everything is going well, check back in when you can. :earsgirl:

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday

Hi, all. Just got home from an all day regional meeting - nice to be home early after a very late night last night attending our Board meeting. So, I missed the Red Sox game - a good thing, I guess.

 oops, Zurgswife, I did mean you re: DVC. I must having been suffering a slight brain kink from reading a lot of posts to catch up yesterday.

Bill and Lauren~ "ain't afraid of no goats nor curses" What are we to do? I am really praying for a Cubs v. Sox World Series. But, our bats have been ominously quieted - the curse at work?!!!:scratchin which makes me very worried for our Sox.

DF~ WOW - that Dreamflight clipart is wonderful - it is so you! ::yes::

Glenn~ beautiful pictures of the F$G at Epcot.

Disbug~ the convention planning goes slowly... my responsibility is to garner volunteers (100s of them) and schedule them to locations and timeframes throughout the convention week. We (the co-chair and me) are in the eraly phase of soliciting the volunteers needed. LOL Just another hat in my repetoire, I guess!

disfanRN~ I could use a little grotto pool right about now!

Indulge me one off-topic post (please)

My take of the game 6 is Alou's tirade after the incident is more to blame. It was just a foul ball that wasn't caught. Nobody scored, no one reached base. But he exploded, which only got the fans going more (reports say there was a loud vulgar chant that went up). Add to that the unfortunate preoccupation in the media and call in shows with stuff like curses and how long its been since the Cubs were in or won the WS (totally irrelevant to the current people who are now on the team) and you almost get an underlying feeling that something bad is waiting to happen. So when a strange but relatively harmless thing happens, the players seemed to overreact and get too nervous. Hence the Prior ball four wild pitch, the botched grounder, grooving a pitch to Pudge on 0-2 etc.

I'm afraid the pressure and atmosphere will only grow larger tonight. Any error could open the flood gates one last time. It's maybe too much to expect a team to overcome, yet if (whoops - when) they do - the victory will be even sweeter.

GO CUBS!!

Three pages of posts and I am off to football! I was SOOOO glad to be able to come here and spend a few minutes reading up on everyone's life! I had three suspensions today and had to help another teacher with a mad parent. Grotto Pool take me away!

DisfanRn>> Glad you are having a wonderful trip! How many days has Thabo been in the Dolphin lounge since you've been there? I am wondering if I should switch ressies, save the few dollars, and keep to the "I'll go anywhere that Thabo is" which was my DS's request.

GO CUBS! GO SOX! GO WINGS! oh yeah.. and GO FLINT JACKALS! Our official season starts Sunday! www.geocities.com/flintjackals
It isn't fancy since I write my own code and the information changes constantly, but it IS an official team website! :) Pictures will be added as soon as I can remember to have something better than my cell phone to take pictures with! LOL

*humming* when you wish upon a star... I can't wait to see the new fireworks! That song usually makes me start crying, anways! (and have no idea why).

Have a great Wednesday! (it is Wednesday, right?)
Debbie

I hear you Deb - before I left OU I was forced to throw a 20 something adult(?) student out of class for behavior. Problem is - it wasn't my class - I was a guest speaker. LOL Fight the good fight. I love it when you do cause it makes my life easier!!!

Ps All - I now have a new Avatar that better fits my personlity. :smooth:

mouseteacher! Keep on keeping on! I am trying to upload all my pics before I leave for Pittsburgh so I can continue my reports from there! I have some long distance pics of the grotto I'll post!

dreamflight! The new siggie avatar is fab! VERY U! (As in "you" and Unique... two synonyms!)

ww52! Coffee cups and ball caps? You betcha! The coffee cup is already in the pre-order stage. I just need to find out if there are any copyright infringements, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera!

NEWSFLASH! (CAN'T WAIT TO SAVE IT FOR THE TRIP REPORTS!).... tried to buy a pin for my lanyard at the Dolphin Gift Shop, but no go (I already have one from the Swan.)... The reason? Supposedly they are making a new pin which incorporates both Swan and Dolphin Logos! Be on the Look out for IT!

mompoppins! Working to keep them coming (the trip reports). I should be able to roll them out this weekend I hope!)

robmax! Fabulouso pics from the Flower Fest! I love your pic with the monorail coming around the bend! The sky color is perfect, don't you think?

madge, oh madge!! THAT WAS ME! I WAS in Canada listening to the WONDERFUL OFF KILTER Band! (Thursday afternoon!) I wish you had caught up with me! Boo Hoo! So close!!:wave2:

marymrg! Thanks for the suggestions and the link. I will print them out right now! I will probably be downtown most of the week unless I decide to get a car. I would rather rent from downtown instead of having to get/return one from the airport.

Hello to the room! Got to go pack! (I know... AGAIN! Just take out the shorts, put in pants and sweaters and I'm all done!)
