NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

OK. I have the Hotwire rate of $81 so I don't really expect an upgrade at checkin and I don't have enough points yet to upgrade for our whole stay. What should I request at checkin? What is the "best" standard room at the Dolphin?

We were in 15093 (I think) at Christmas. It is a King room and we were comped a roll-away for being SPG--we had no points at that time. From the window of that room, you have a good view of both Spaceship Earth and the ToT. Also, if you don't ask for this room, I would suggest asking for a room accessible from the central elevator (somebody correct me if my terminology is wrong) as the central elevator rooms seemed much closer to everything that you might need. Have fun

Hello fro the Magic Kingdom!! Short lines at the park today. The most we waited was 20 minutes. Did not need a Fast
Pass on Alien Encounter. Went over to Splash Mountain, and they were giving 7:00 PM times away, the wait was 50 minutes if you stayed in line. Interesting. Share the magic parade was awesome!!!! Seemed like the crowds were heavier at 3, but we went over to Rolling Thunder (fast pass) came back to the hotel and found OUR WATER DOES NOT WORK. They made us change rooms!! 2 doors down. Got 2500 points for our trouble, It was that or $50.00 credit.

Off to Italy for dinner and hopefully a run on TEST TRACK!!! ( last 2 visits it was not completed - I have been waiting for this! Beautiful blue skys!!!

Spring and good weather may have sprung here in Boston... for ONE DAY! Yes, our temps will plummet again on Thursday. DF, Cali might be well groomed but the melting of our snow has unveiled the messiness left behind from winter- downed tree limbs, yard debris, sand and the like. Ah well, DH needs to get out with his rake and barrels once he finally puts our taxes in the mail. Nothing like waiting until the final gong!

Sandy ~ have fun on Test Track - it's awesome. One of the few thrill rides I will do --with a lot of screaming and laughter on my part. DH can't figure out why I scream on this ride - he says its just like driving with him. LOL.

Italy for dinner... my memories of eating there includes a dish of linguine with pesto and singing Italian songs with the strolling musicians who work the dining room.

DF99 -I hear you about the CA weather - my sister lived in SF for 4 years...too boring (good thing the occasional earthquake livened things up)...however this has been the winter to end all winters here in the NE...frigid for days on end, my house (that I've lived in for 8 years) could not get up to 68 degrees on several days, even with the heat running round the clock. First time that's ever happened! Even in August, the sun here just doesn't feel like the good ol' Florida Sunshine!!!

Mouseteacher - we finally got out to rake up the Oak tree leaves (that were still on the D**N trees when we got our FIRST foot of snow)...only to find lots and lots of lovely grubs...I have lost two trees and several bushes to the winter and ice, but my Lilacs have survived!!!

Two weeks from tomorrow I WILL BE IN THE AIR!!!!

THE NERVE! Actually COMPED you for the rollaway! Ugh...any decent DISNEY-OWNED resort would have charged you DOUBLE (Esp. @ Christmas)! LOL.

That's IT?!? For all the trouble of changing to a new room, just TWO DOORS DOWN!? Wow...I had to move in a Disney-Owned resort MORE THAN ONCE over the past decade, and they gave me....ummmm, well.....come to think of it....they gave me ZILCH! (even had to haul my own luggage!) LOL.
Hope you have a great time in Italy (ohh...I love the fettucine!), and test track. It's so great to read your posts from INSIDE the MAGIC! Thanks for being so generous with your vacation time.

Too Funny! I LOVE to scream on these rides...out loud. It's one of the FEW TIMES in life, no one stares or calls the police! RELEASE the SCREAMS in WDW: *TOT, RR, SM, AE, SM, ST, TMR, D (okay...yes...for FOLLY on this one!), POTC, N, ...etc.! Ahh...FEELS so good just "thinking" about the screaming! (No screaming in SPACE....Shhhh).

jgates...I would love to stash you in my suitcase. I know it is still winter in your neck of the woods (my best girlfriend lives in Sheboygan Falls...and the reports are scary ) Us southerners are scared by such!

I am only going 'solo' without my kids...DH will be there..working, but I probably can get him to carry the bags (especially now that we have that king sized bed ) Excuse me...it's late...and I'm still soooo excited

pewing ~ Congrats! The same happened to me. When I read the upgrade on the spg site, I, too, thought I was seeing things! It took several seconds to sink in and then I gave out an explosive YIPPEE!!!! Isn't it it magical to discover the upgrade this way? Of course, it's thanks to all on these Boards for their welth of info, encouragement and support. Enjoy your time in the magic.

DF ~ It is such fun to scream on these rides - quite frankly it's the only way I survive them! DS usually sits with me and, of course, he is so cool about handling the thrill rides that he laughs at my antics.

Was the most beautiful site I ever saw! We had Fetticinni at Alfredos, the best I ever had! Not crowded at all over there!! Walking back to the SWAN, they were playing clarinet music, and it was a moment to remember. Being at EPCOT with no-one there, watching my DD (14) skipping back to our hotel. Magical.
Funny story - tried to get the the CL, hit floor 12 on the elevator button, and kept going down, not up!! We had just sent the girls to CL for a snack, ans we could not get to 12!! Asked the maintenance men-where are the steps? He took us up the service elevator and we get the the CL, and there is plastic and paint everywhere. Asked the maintenace men where the Lounge was, they did not even know where it Was! I started to feel like I was in the Twiglight Zone!!! Found the Lounge at the end of the hall. And there were the DD's!! They found another elevator also. They kept hitting 12 and the elevator did not even move.


Off to MGM this morning. Then to Pleasure Island tonight. The DD's are really lokking foward to the clubs there. I want WAIT for Tower of Terror!! One of my favorite rides.

The weather is beautiful!!80's and blue skys!!! I wanna LIVE here!!

I will second that! These boards are awesome They have been so key in my last two trips. How did I 'do Disney' without them in 2000??

Yikes...a 40 degree drop is brutal. Makes for a chilly Easter! We did that last week. I had already packed up the coats Good luck...

Just checked out the weather and it looks wonderful for the next 10 days in Orlando. our bags are packed and in the car,picking up DDs at school and then DH at 5:00 and we are on our way. Thanks for all the wonderful info.

beader...YOU had FETTUCINE!! This is what I LIVE FOR at the ITALY pavillion (did you read my last post?). Yumm....I can TASTE it right now. So happy you enjoyed it too. Nearly made me cry with the vision of "DD skipping back to the resort" as the Clarinet music played...something you RARELY see a teen doing near home! LOL. WDW certainly brings out the MAGIC in all of us! In the summers past, I love to recall the visions of DD & DH playing silly games in the "hedge maze" behind the shops in the garden area of United Kingdom, late in the eve...after Illuminations & the crowds have waned. There's definitely a MAGIC to these scenes...and the memories preserve the pixie dust quite well. Thanks for the wonderful posts from the EDGE of the WORLD & the MIDST of the MAGIC! Keep 'em coming!

Pewing - when you get back, please post a report and tell us how your view, room etc. was. I am trying to decide between my Dolphin room, and a room at AKL. Right now there is a $150/night difference between the two. I have both booked, but I can't decide which one I want. I'll let the "CODE" fairies decide for me I guess! Also tell me if you had a day bed, and if there would be room for an additional roll away in the corner king. We do not have such a romantic trip planned as you and need room for the kids!
