Mouseteacher - i will get a park report out next weekend. I leave this week with 52 of my students and other adults for WDW. I know, I am spoiled, but this has been a trip in the making since last Sept. and we are all excited! Tell you how it is when we all return.

loving the mouse glad to hear your trip was great aside from your car problem. Did you see any renovation activity going on while yu were there? Was wondering if top to bottom or bottom to top or just random rooms were getting done.

DisNurse - funny that you should ask because the day we arrived at the Dolphin - they were loading mattresses onto a Ryder rental truck - but other than that, there were no signs, that we could see, of any work going on at either hotel.

Wow! Caroline - back to back trips to WDW! Lucky you. What grade level is going and where are you staying with them?

Glad to see that school trips are still taking place despite the condition of our world today. There are many high school trips here in the north shore communities that have canceled particularly those going overseas. My DNiece's award winning high school jazz ensemble is scheduled to compete in Montreal this May. I hope all stays on schedule for them, too.

Tell us all about both trips! I love to live vicariously! ;)

lovingthemouse.......you must be in a private school, right? My DH's sister teaches at a private school in Seattle and they take cool trips all the time! Please post upon return.

...no, she definitely is NOT in a private school....BTW~lovingthemouse, I sent you a pm;)

Hope you and your students have a WONDERFUL and SAFE trip!!!

LOL Ozziewags - i teach in a very urban middle school in a large city, and my kids have saved up and fundraised since Sept for this trip. Some even had their trip costs donated by people i have never met - that is why this trip is so special. All the kids received pin lanyards and pins, resort mugs and pixie dust beyond my dreams. When you consider there are 1100 kids in my school, 43 is a drop in the bucket but i am so excited for them. I will let you all know how the trip goes. We just want a safe journey and lots of magic for them. Caroline

I hope someone can help me. I am trying to figure out what room to book in the Dolphin for my honeymoon.

What is the difference between the deluxe king room and the traditional king room?

If I book a resort view room, will that give me a view of Epcot and Illuminations?

The most important thing to me is the view. If anyone has any advice on room requests or room recommendations, it wold be a big help.

Thanks

karma - I can't answer since we had a double queen -but WELCOME and congrats on your upcoming wedding!

BTW, it is 750 points per night for the upgrade - and we use the teacher discount. Had an awesome view of the Swan, Epcot, MGM - wow, it was wonderful!

Whoa now - I thought it was 1000 points for the upgrade. Can someone confirm what lovingthemouse has posted? This is kind of important to me as I'm hoping to upgrade to CL in June on points. I have enough if 750 but not enough if 1000.

Wolfpackfan,

Per the SPG website, it requires 1000 points for a Specialty 1 upgrade and 1500 points for the Specialty 2 as the Swan/Dolphin are level 4 properties. What I don't know is whether this is universally applied. By the post above, it seems that it is not. Now, my question is what is the difference in result between a Specialty 1 and Specialty 2? Say if you already have a themepark/Water view booked, what would the Specialty 2 upgrade net? While I know I did not definitively answer your question, I did email SPG and perhaps their answer will shed some light on this subject.

karma..........I cannot answer your q. about traditional vs deluxe king rooms, but I do know that you should call now and request your view. Dreamflight seems to be away and can give you specific room numbers, but she says that Epcot views are in the east wing, floor 6 and above. There are also king corner rooms in the east wing in the turret, that have two balconies. I think you would like that........there are pics of them on here somewhere! Have a great time.

As for points, we know that the web site lists 1000, but we also know that it could be the desk person forgot. It also could be different for different properties, which I doubt, since it is posted on the web site. Someone let us know!

Regarding my question about points - I called SPG to inquire if I had enough points to upgrade to CL? I was told that yes I do, but that I couldn't put in the request until 5 days before we checkin. She never said how many points it takes, but I have enough if 750, but not enough if 1000.

HAVE A GREAT TIME, CAROLINE! Seems like it was a year ago I first became aware of your plans. Wow..time certainly flies (when we're having fun). I know you will receive your reward, when you gaze at the "expressions" of your students as they see the CASTLE for the very first time! May God Bless you and your charges, and hold you in the palm of his hand safely, until you all return. ;)

DD attends a private Catholic school...and they have NEVER taken a trip to WDW! LOL....(but they do attend Grad night at DL, since we are so close). :p She played with her Steel Drum Band yesterday for "6 hours" at the Catholic School/church Mardi Gras event (I won $20 in BINGO!). Her feet, back and shoulders are "tired" this am! She took a hot bath last eve, and said she's taking another as soon as she returns this afternoon. They sounded so wonderful, and sold quite a few of their CD (professonally recorded). I'm contacting the event coordinator at DL, to see if they can perhaps play during next years Mardi Gras. :)

"jgates & jaygatz"....ARE YOU RELATED? :p

karma_cameleon~Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! So happy you are planning to include the Dolphin on your honeymoon. The traditional King room, Or standard King room is a bit smaller in size, and also offers the standard "view". Most all the Deluxe King rooms will have the resort/water view, and be a little larger in size. The ammenities are the same, King bed with small sofa, etc. The NICEST KING rooms in the Dolphin are the "CORNER KINGS W/TURRET" (this is how they are designated). These rooms are located in the end of the wings, and have two balconies~as Ozzie stated. One is a traditional balcony, the other a private balcony. In my opinion, the most grand are located on the far East Wing, floor 5 and up. This would be 5015, etc. The view will be EPCOT on the traditional balcony, and also MGM on the Turret (if you peer around the end of this balcony). These were dubbed "Corner Executive suites" when the resort was operated by Sheraton. They are very roomy, and private (not offering the connecting door to 5017). Balconies are nice at the Dolphin, since they are "staggered" in design. So, when you are on the balcony of 5015, the room adjacent to yours in 5017--does not have a balcony...thus offering you more of an intimate setting. The Turret Balcony will "knock your socks off!" :p Call and request asap.

WolfpackFan...That's all you need! If you phoned, and they "confirmed" you currently have enough to upgrade~Then VOILA! Make sure you place the request 5 days prior to arrival. :)

My home computer has crashed!!!! I can only check the DIS when I have a chance at school which isn't often enough.

I hope to be back in full swing soon - we're ordering a new computer for home.

...thanks for stopping by ;) !! IYHO ~ what are the chances of getting S/D for $69/nite on SkyAuction or one of those sites where you put in a bid? (thinking of a surprise 3-day mini-trip w/just my 8-y-o DS for Spring break -Shhhhh- )

...about the computer "crash", mouseteacher. My old compaq (not really "old...only three+ years and $3500), crashed before the holidays. I rebooted it with the recovery disc, but it was still freezing constantly and having fatal errors every time I used it. So, I bought this NEW DELL for Christmas! It's fabulous, and the digital screen (22" flat) is just amazing. My old system had a 17", with rap around JBL speakers. It was nice, but this is much better! Tell me what/when you are back in business at home!

Has Caroline left the building, yet? Does anyone know "when" she leaves with all the kids?
:)

Hi, Kimmar!! IMHO...(LOL) Pretty Darned Good! Someone just PM'd me about this very thing, and said they "nabbed" the Dolphin for $69.00 per eve, and received an UPGRADE to a resort view w/balcony at check-in! WOW! AMAZING PRICE! They also "extended" their stay once ON PROPERTY...at the SAME PRICE! I'd stay a couple months for that price! Let me know how it turns out. Love the BABY picture on your thread (Hayden Noel), that's a GORGEOUS Baby! Babies make me think of SPRING, and spring makes me think of SUMMER...and summer makes me think..."DOLPHIN"!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :p

dreamflight i too had compaq with jbls at work and just got a new dell there. I have dell at home both desktop and my new laptop. love them both
has anyone gotten the info regarding free fridays that was mentioned on another thread???
