jgates........have you thought about Cedar Point? I hear it has great coasters and I always wanted to go there for a weekend. They have a website.

I'm going to Cedar Point!!! This will be my second visit after going there in 1999! I'm so excited since this will be my first experiences on Millenium Force (300ft) and Top Thrill Dragster (420ft) so I can't wait!

If you get a chance, even though it isn't WDW, Cedar Point is a lot more fun than the normal amusment park!

Okay, all you experienced Swansters and Dolphinites-

I'm going to call the Swan directly tomorrow morning and ask for a Free Upgrade, on the understanding that these wonderful things do happen. Now, if they ask me exactly what I would like, any suggestions? I don't think we are going to be in the room a great deal, so a view isn't that important. The two things you all have made sound AWFULLY attractive are CL and Heavenly beds.

Help, help, I'm really nervous about asking for this....

Uncharacteriscally shy Janet in Michigan

P.S. I got a great digital picture of Chaddie the Corgi, now I just need to figure out how to get it on here.

If a heavenly bed is important to you, make your reservation for the Swan. The Dolphin doesn't have heavenly beds yet. Then when you call the Swan ask for a possible upgrade to CL. If your reservation is at the Dolphin I don't think you will miss the heavenly beds as the Dolphin is my favorite! I'm sure you will enjoy either one! Happy planning!

Mitla......here are the directions for posting your doggie pic....
you need to upload to ImageStation or some type of site that lets you use their(your) pics.....

I uploaded them
into Image Station, then I highlighted the pic I wanted to use and right
clicked on it. I clicked on properties and copied the url address. Then I
went to my post and clicked on IMG and pasted the url in the window that
popped up, then clicked ok. Then I previewed my post, and wala! my pic was
there.
Good luck and we will be watching for your doggie!

Mitla...by now, I'm sure you have placed the call to the Swan/Dolphin. ;) I'm hoping it was a positive experience. Please, let us know. When it comes down to upgrades and specifics, it's all a matter of personal preference. I prefer the Dolphin, and do not consider the beds to be "heavenly" due to the VIEW out the windows! LOL. I would love to see Chaddie. Please follow Ozzie's instructions and post! She's the person whom taught me, so she knows what she's talking (writing...LOL) about! ;)

Jgates...LOL, looks like CEDAR POINT RULES! Sounds like a MAGIC MOUNTAIN park! Is it a Six Flags? It would definitely be exciting. :p

Dreamflight-

haven't made the call yet, been hassling with work all day. I'm a wuss-still scared to call  I will try to get Chaddie's picture done, but got to go cook- Today is my son's 15th birthday-seems like yesterday I was kissing his furry little newborn head!

It is 35 and sleeting here in East Lansing-heard it was 77 in Orlando-can't wait to go!

Later, Janet

Mitla96 I, too, was shy (chicken!) to call about a comp upgrade. I emailed the Dolphin (through their web site) requesting that any complimentary upgrade would be greatly appreciated. I did receive an e mail back acknowledging my request but no promises. It worked - received CL - it was posted on the spg site about a week before our arrival. Might you do this instead of calling? What do you think DF? If Mitla is not going near winter school vacations (Northeast has it week of 2/17) it should be a slow time and an upgrade should be possible?!

That's a scary thought!!!

Mitla......I think you should follow Mouseteacher's advice. What fun that would be to see your comp. upgrade posted before you got there.

Please follow Mouseteacher and Ozziewags advice and email your request for a complimentary upgrade to CL. It could make all the differance for you! Good luck!

Here is a picture of Chaddie.....

Sorry about the Latinas looking for love on the side, but I did manage to post a picture of Chaddie (with my son Victor's help). I worked on it for an hour and a half, he did it in two minutes:rolleyes:

I WILL call the Swan tomorrow, looks like I will be stuck here all day, I have already sent a request for upgrade email through the website about 2 days ago, but it was very non specific.

I am afraid I will call and ask for upgrade, and they will say, "No Swan for you!"

I have to AGREE with you 100%. This way, you avoid negating any chances by "talking" with the wrong associate on the phone. Politely mail in a request as Mouseteacher did, and you will more than likely obtain an upgrade! Let us know the results!!

*Happy Birthday to your Son! My DD is 15 also, and just yesterday she was a tiny little bird...LOL!:p

Janet, just email again...and do as Mouseteacher suggested. Thanks for the pic. of CHADDIE! Now, that's a beautiful CORGI! Wow, looks like Chaddie has a "watch eye" which is all blue? Certainly looks like a friendly little fella! Thanks again...I LOVE the animal pics...anyone else? Any animals will do!! ;)

Mitla........Chaddie is sooo cute. Now, if you right click on that pic and click on properties a big box will come up and you can highlight, then copy the URL(right click to get the copy to come up). Then go to your post and above the box where we respond are the letters IMG; click it and paste the URL in that box.(right click to get the paste). Then you can add Chaddie right here! Good luck on your requests; let us know what happens.

Oh Ozziewags, I am pleased to get the picture in there as a link-when I tried the IMG I kept getting the deadly little box with the red X!

Dreamflight, one of Chaddie's eyes is all blue and the other is half brown and half blue. If you pull back his black fur, the skin underneath is blue! He was on his good behavior for this picture-usually he is too coyote like to capture on film.

SO-now I shouldn't call the Swan CM? ARRGH!

Janet

I have been reading these boards for months, but this is my first post. I have honestly tried to read all the posts in this thread, but, holy smokes! I have some questions regarding the Dolphin, which I booked yesterday at the 50% off Entertainment rate. (I learned about that here!) I've done so much research here and elsewhere that my head is about to explode, and I'm still finding conflicting information. With the wealth of knowledge (not to mention all the cutie poochies) here, someone's bound to have the definitive answers, right? Right??? Please help a newbie out!

Ok, here's the story: My DH, DS9, DS6months, and I (I'm Ashley) will be traveling to Orlando for a family reunion June 13-15. We will be staying the 12th-15th at the Ramada Inn & Plaza Maingate (or something...it's got all those words, but I might have gotten them out of order) with the rest of the family. Then, the Boys and I will be at the Dolphin until the 19th. Of the four of us, I'm the only one who has been to WDW, but that was in 1980. I have booked a CL room, and my questions are about that:

1. In The New Swan and Dolphin FAQ 2003 thread here, it says,
The Concierge level(club rooms) at the Swan and Dolphin have Westin Heavenly Beds, extra nice with great padding and sheets. Thanks WonderMagik
(3rd post, by glo, "Club Room Info")
But, somewhere in this thread that was refuted. So, what gives?

2. At wdwig, on the "Dolphin Fact Sheet" it says,
Guests will receive a complimentary gift shortly after check-in and use of the wonderfully plush Dolphin bathrobes.
This is the only mention I have seen of bathrobes. I know it sounds silly, but I've never stayed in a hotel that offered bathrobes, and it's like the ultimate in luxury to me! :o Are there bathrobes? And if so, would they bring in an extra one for my nine-year-old?

3. At the Starwood website, at their Dolphin page, it shows this picture:
na468gr4_lg.jpg

It doesn't show that picture on the Swan page. Is this a Dolphin room? Standard? Suite? I LOVE this room!

Sorry to start my posting career here with so many questions that have probably already been answered, but I just gotta know!

TIA for your help!

We'll be staying at the Swan for the first time next month, 3/13-3/17 for our anniversary on the gov't/military rate in CL. Tell me what to expect. Are there robes in the room, is there a view or particular room that I should request? Is breakfast the only food offering of the day, is there a concierge for PS requests? We've been to WDW many times, but first time at Swan. TIA

We just came back from the Dolphin on 1/13 and we requested robes. They sent one up for all of us, even 12 y/o DD got a robe at the Dolphin. You do have to request the robes as they are not in the rooms.

Muffinish (cute name) the pic you posted looks like a king standard room to me. Hopefully by June the Dolphin will have some Heavenly beds. Only the Swan has heavenly beds right now. To find out more about the Dolphin check out Glo's thread at the top of this board. Lots of info there about CL, etc.

Mitla96, thanks for the pic of your Corgi! Isn't it funny how our young sons know all the ins and outs of computers?! Yes, definatly make a specific request to the Swan! Believe me it will be worth the effort! Good luck!

As I wrote earlier...You must request the robes from housekeeping upon arrival in your room. Simply call and ask for the # of robes you desire. They will bring them promptly. I too, enjoy the use of these robes while in the Dolphin/Swan.

Ashley, all the Swan CL rooms have been "changed-out" with the new Heavenly beds! The picture you copied off the Website shows a Swan King Room (Big King Bed and sofa), your CL room will be just as nice (or-if you prefer, you may request a King on CL, and it will look like this picture). The complimentary gift has been "nixed" in lieu of SPG amenities (your choice) at check-in. These are all based upon your level of SPG (Reg/Gold/Plat), and vary in choice. You will LOVE this resort! Thanks for finally posting...WELCOME to our thread!!;)

Janet...thanks for confirming the eye color of CHADDIE! He looks so SWEET, and HAPPY! :p Sorry you are unable to get him on the page...he would be a welcome face to see here on this thread. ;)

MLAinVA...Yes, there is full concierge for any requests, including PS. Also, food offerings are 2X per day, sometimes more (fireworks) if Mama T is there! The afternoon includes the hot apps, fresh fruit, cheese, crackers, cookies, and assorted bevs. ENJOY!!;)
