I am trying to get a feel for the interest level related to this new "Disney" card...

I wimped out and applied. I think it is kinda unfair to take something that was available to anyone who was willing to pay the fee and change it into something not everyone may be able to qualify for:( I really didn't want another credit card and since we don't use them very much I am not even sure if there is any real benefit to having it. I am going to miss the Disney Club.

I'm very interested in it and applied and have been approved. I'm just waiting on it to show up in my mail box. The card has been taking a lot of heat, mostly because people probably had some unreasonable expectations. And while I do admit that it probably is not the "best" reward card out there, it is the only one specific to Disney, and I think there is the potential for some significant added perks (i.e. maybe DC caliber) to make it worth its while.

Plus, I do have to confess, it is cool to have a Disney themed credit card. :teeth:

I caved in and applied. I'm not sure I'll use it. It definitely is not as good as DC.
I feel sort of jaded by the whole deal but I did apply.

I will miss the Disney Club.... I don't want a credit card that I have to use (a lot) to get any major benefit. I think that they could have tried having both for a year since we all PAID for the Disney Club after all. Especially since many people may not qualify who love Disney.:D

I haven't taken out the new Disney card yet. I just can't make up my mind.

I'm going to move this over to our community board for you.

I applied - it has benefits similar to those I already have (1% back in rewards). For those of you who have already heard back and are accepted did you apply by phone or internet? How did you find out you were getting the card?

I was a loyal DC member and loved it. I am not applying
for the credit card for now. It does not seem like any great
deal and I already have credit cards with good rewards
programs.

I think Disney is going to lose some business in their stores.
I always thought of them first for clothes for DD and presents
at holiday times because I was a DC member and appreciated
the discount.

Too Bad its gone now

We are also getting it. When it's here, we'll close Discover Card account.

I think the interest rate is a little high, so I am not going to apply for it.

I applied the first day I got the email....haven't heard yet...anyone hear yet?

I am confused. I do not see any discounts on tickets or rooms like the DC. Just the 1% towards things. That to me is taking away and giving nothing.

I am very interested in the card and applied on the first day they opened it up...whether I USE it or not will all depend on the details of the offers, which won't arrive until the card arrives.

Assuming you don't carry a balance, and therefore don't pay any interest, OR assuming the Disney Visa interest rate is less than what you pay on other cards, then here is the benefit:

DC did have discounts on some tickets, rooms, and restaurants. And true, the Disney Visa only pays you 1%, but you earn 1% on EVERYTHING you purchase with the card. That includes anything you charge day-to-day, like gas, groceries, Christmas presents, clothes, etc...

That COULD end up being more than you ever saved with DC, especially if you get AP, DVC, or AAA discounts.

Of course, that assumes one qualifies for the card, which certainly won't be the case for every DC member. Also, until we get all the details, it isn't clear if the Disney rewards are a better deal than, or at least as good as, other rewards cards, like those that earn airline miles.

The card itself might be very useful for Disney fans, but it wasn't really fair for them to imply it was a "replacement" for the DC.

Call one of the 800 numbers to apply, and just tell them you want to check on your application. They will give you another 800 number to call. All you will have to do is call that number and enter your social and it will tell you if you are approved. It won't give you any other info, like credit line or interest rate, only the status of your application.

If you are approved, it will tell you that you'll be receiving more info via mail within 10 business days. I'm not sure if that will include everything, like the pin.

I think you can call the number no matter how you applied, but I'm not positive about that.

I'd post the number, but I don't have it with me.

Hope that helps...

I just called and the # to check status of your application is (888) 338-2586

They called here tonight to say my card was on the way but that they were unable to fit my entire name on it:eek: Apparantly they were trying to put Mrs. Laura ____________________ and my last name is looooooong. I was out but DH told them to skip the Mrs part.:p LOL!

I already have a credit card (really the only credit card I use) with the same company and since I get no perks with them currently I am more than happy to sign up for this one. Anything in my eyes is better than nothing and I hope the special discounts they claim they will offer now and then will turn out to be decent.

Thanks for the 800 number AMClvsMKY, I was curious about that since I did my application online instead of over the phone.

Does this card have an annual fee and do you have to be a DC member to apply for the card?

Thanks!
