I am very interested in the card and applied on the first day they opened it up...whether I USE it or not will all depend on the details of the offers, which won't arrive until the card arrives.
I am confused. I do not see any discounts on tickets or rooms like the DC. Just the 1% towards things. That to me is taking away and giving nothing.
Assuming you don't carry a balance, and therefore don't pay any interest, OR assuming the Disney Visa interest rate is less than what you pay on other cards, then here is the benefit:
DC did have discounts on some tickets, rooms, and restaurants. And true, the Disney Visa only pays you 1%, but you earn 1% on EVERYTHING you purchase with the card. That includes anything you charge day-to-day, like gas, groceries, Christmas presents, clothes, etc...
That COULD end up being more than you ever saved with DC, especially if you get AP, DVC, or
AAA discounts.
Of course, that assumes one qualifies for the card, which certainly won't be the case for every DC member. Also, until we get all the details, it isn't clear if the Disney rewards are a better deal than, or at least as good as, other rewards cards, like those that earn airline miles.
The card itself might be very useful for Disney fans, but it wasn't really fair for them to imply it was a "replacement" for the DC.
