New Disney Rewards credit card

How interested are you in the "Disney" rewards credit card?

  • Very interested, signed up the first day I could

  • It has peaked my interest somewhat

  • Will get the card, but unsure if as good as Disney Club

  • Oh great, another credit card to get in trouble with

I am curious, I know on boards like these, it has been said that this new visa is a replacement for the DC but has Disney every said, "hey we are getting rid of the DC but are replaceing it with a new Visa card?" I haven't seen anything. I personally don't see the new Visa as a replacement for the DC but something new entirely. I put in my application and am waiting to see. If I get it I will cancel my other Visa card and use this one. I rarely keep a balance on a CC and getting "disney dream dollars" for something I would have charged w/o a reward is a plus.

I'm not sure if that will include everything, like the pin.
In order to get the pin you have to actual use the card, at least once. (it was in the fine print)

Thanks for the links!

So you earn $1 Disney reward dollar for each $100 charged. Unless you charged a lot it would take forever to really accumulate many reward dollars. But suppose you had $100 reward dollars. Does anyone know if that can be applied dollar for dollar to a Disney resort hotel reservation for instance? Or to buy passes?

I think I remember that now...thanks.

I believe they said something to the effect of "We will be offering a whole new way to become one with the Magic"....or something like that.

Really though, as a stand-alone program, its ok, pending the details. But the reality is, they did end the DC at the same time, so whether they actually call it a replacement or not, from the guest point of view, it is. Sort of like if they closed one attraction and opened another elsewhere in the park. Technically not a replacement, but practically speaking it is.

What the Disney Visa is definitely a replacement for is the AMEX White Glove Treatment, which also offered some discounts on property, as well as a free gift upon check-in. Last year was a pin lanyard with a White Glove Treatment pin, and before that it was a hip-pack.

Yes, they have said they are essentially dollar for dollar, and there will be special offers that allow you to get "more" than that. The only one specified up front was the opportunity to get a $50 DCL shipboard credit.

They have said they can be used for rooms, merchandise and tickets, but we're not sure if there will be any exclusions or not.

One other benefit is if you buy a vacation package through Disney with the Disney Visa, you will not be charged interest for 6 months. Again, not sure if the interest accumulates during that time, or if there are any exclusions.

There is also a limit of 750 reward dollars earned per year.

Mine came in the mail today! :teeth: I think I will transfer a balance I have to get the rewards points but don't plan on carrying much of a balance. DH and I are getting rid of credit cards (well, we only have 2) but I will use it and pay it off so I can get the rewards. I figured it wasn't much of a risk seeing as there is no annual fee. It is nice looking, red with Mickey ears design and Member since Day 1!

mrsv98 - I didn't think the rewards were good on balance transfers. Does it say that they are in our paperwork? ALso, how long did it take for you to recieve your card after you applied?
