?NEW DISNEY RESORT? What name, theme?

After reading this thread I went home and asked my kids what kind of resort they would look for at Disney.....Hands down, Villians was the first thing that came out of both of them (DS9, DD6). After that DS suggested resorts to match the pavillions of EPCOT. He figures that it is highly unlikely that we will ever get to really visit these places and would like to see more of what they are really about.

My son's favorite character is Captain Hook. Everytime I ask him where he'd want to stay he says he wants to stay in Neverland. I think a villian theme would be very cute! I also like the Epcot idea. They could do a lot with that. I think the idea of having a resort based on different countries would be really cool!!

Hey, I know this won't appeal to the largest audience but since we are dreaming. .

. . . I wouldn't mind seeing Disney build a pet-friendly hotel with some Disney Magic for our "other" family members. Nice on-site kennels for boarding during the day. Themed play areas, outside dining where pets are allowed, character photo ops with well-behaved pets, and Disney dogs and cats everywhere (Pluto, Goofy, the Aristocats, Lady & the Tramp, etc.). Would love to have memories of my daughter enjoying Disney with her dog.

I am completely with you on this one! I would love to be able to bring my dog to WDW with us! A lot less stressful on me, DH AND the dog!

Unfortunately... well-behaved is a subjective term.... one persons idea of well-behaved is another persons idea of annoying.

I personally have enjoyed reading this thread. Some of the ideas are wonderful. This info should be forwarded to the powers that be (as if they would listen to us, LOL). My favorite is the Americana theme. Hopefully if they ever reopen the Treehouses (one can dream can't they?) they can incorporate into the resort.

I think Tarzan would live well among the treehouses. That would be a great reinvention of the resort, if they open it again :flower:

I have to agree with you, Autumngirl. I'm sure there would be some unruly dogs, just as people bring their unruly kids :rotfl:
DH and I are leaving our dog for the first time when we go to WDW in May...just thinking about not bringing her makes me sad :( Luckily she'll be with my IL's for the week, but I'm still worried about her not eating when we're gone...she's more like our baby than our dog :) Our only option if we wanted to bring her would be to stay off-site, but just think of the $$ Disney could make with kenneling, or having "doggie day-care" while we're at the parks :)

I love the idea of Villains! Maybe they could bring back the villian character meal that my son so loved at that resort.

I like many of the ideas. Too bad they aren't there right now!

I think there would be a major issue with the odor in rooms with pets (we seldom take our 3 lb. Yorkie to hotels, due to the issue with odor in pet-friendly rooms). What I am suggesting is a pet-friendly resort, where there are kennels on-site, where you can leave them at night and while you are at the parks. Then, when you are not at the parks, you can have them at the resort with you, just not in the rooms. I loved the suggestions about cat and dog themed resort, and there could be pet play areas, etc. I left Zsa Zsa with my mom on our last trip, because I did not want to leave her in a kennel 24/7. If she were at a kennel at our resort, and I could get her out and spend time with her at the resort (just not take her to the room), I would have taken her without a thought. How does that sound? :confused3

That sounds exactly like what I'm thinking of. It would be a full kennel theme, as with the pet "resorts" we have at home. Your pet has a kennel and a run (more comfortable for them than a room, anyway) and the assurance that you'll be able to spend time with them. the last trip we were SO homesick for our dogs it cast a bit of a pall.

I'm totally loving the arabian resort theme. I'd make it a super deluxe resort, where the architecture mimics the arabic/moroccan style, the rooms are decked out in the same style, with high-beamed roofs, Persian carpets, stained glass arched windows, linens would be deep hues, and instead of the typical bed, the mattress would be on the ground (but still comfortable).
The resort could also have an Aladdin character breakfast and dinner and the pool could somehow be style after an open-air market.

I dont know...I'm just throwing various ideas out there but OH MY how I would love it!

i like the arabian idea...they can deck it out with the aladdin stuff...and they can add it to the MK resorts along the monorail track!

The nascar thing sounds really dumb to me. Disney has magic and "themed"resorts. Disney doesnt own nascar.

Being nasty is not necessary.

Value or Moderate - I really like the idea of a Mickey Themed Resort. Something that begins with the whole "It was all started by a mouse" idea to current. Depending on where you are at the resort, you could see the different phases of our favorite mouse. Perhaps even some Mickey Mouse Club stuff thrown in there.

Value - I also like the idea of a resort that themes the "original" Disney characters. Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, Minnie and even Daisy. (I don't like Daisy :()

Moderate or Villas even - I think a villain themed resort would be interesting. And, depending on where you are in this resort, the part of the resort could be themed very differently with each villian. Captain Hook in a wooded (ship) and water type area. A crocodile that shoots water from his mouth into a small pond, maybe some barrels around...the whole thing. Ursula in a watery area with the whole sea theme. Clayton/Tarzan in a jungle area, Gaston/B&TB in an “old castle” theme…etc. I think something like that could be fun.

For a Deluxe resort, I think either a Greece or Italy theme could be great. I would stay there.
