New Disney Honeymoon Registry

Ugh. I have a bunch of money to put on my card: have to get to the bank before Dec 31st now! I don't like that they're changing it. :(

really crappy timing. they should have had a transitional cut off like new brides cant use this registry. my wedding is fourteen days after the cutoff. so for 2 weeks i have to ask people to use a different registry. i am really hoping there is a grace period if people stll try and but on the 5th of january... ugh....

perhaps this is just what one must pay to get a registry that actually, you know, FUNCTIONS

:sad2:

ridiculous!!

About the fee - Like most other long standing businesses, we must charge a fee to provide this outstanding service and keep your information safe and private. This fee is not for transferring money - it's for the actual services we offer, the many staff that are here to help you and the maintenance and security of our website. The old adage is true "you get what you pay for". Once you get started you'll see this fee is worth it, knowing someone will be here to answer the phone to your friends and family and keep their information safe and secure.

ew! i just had to give the webpage a cursory glance and want to say this - yes thing cost money and i suppose whatever all these fees are, if you aren’t maybe, staying on property or having a DFTW, i suppose i could see that they could use this to add more incentive to use all the DFTW services, but as one who has paid the DFTW fees, been through the process, i suppose its good to know that “they” were aware of the cr@p product they were offering because, you know, you get what you pay for and the >$40G in total that we, family and friends spent there just didn’t quite cut it. :scared1:

phew! so glad future DFTW wedding parties and honeymooners will FINALLY be protected by a company that hs a HUGE online presence where apparently all my shopping information etc.. etc.. i’ve shared with them is UNSAFE. THANKS DISNEY!

so excited this is finally up! :banana:however, not excited about the fees.

one question-
will i still just receive one gift card and money will be added to it as gifts are purchased, or will i receive a gift card for every transaction?

the FAQs were confusing at times!:confused3

There is no gift card anymore...you either receive a check made out to you or a direct deposit into your bank account. You can request to receive payment.

interesting....
so i will receive a check in the mail for every transaction?

You have to request payment, so you could either go in and manually request a payment after every transaction (if that's what you want) or wait until you've racked up a lot of transactions and request a payment with the total amount on it. But they won't automatically send anything to you.

ETA:...it looks like if you don't request anything they'll send it to you 5 days before your honeymoon date. Although the sentence is kind of confusing:
If you get busy and forget to request your gift money, we'll send it by your specified method 5 days before the honeymoon date (or upon request by you of an earlier date) and after your honeymoon date.

Boo on no gift card, I love my Disney Wedding Gift Card :goodvibes

Sucks they are charging the fees. Hopefully it will work better now though.:confused3

ouch!!!!!

First of all Thanks PrincessWendy for referring me here.

I am really unhappy about this. I am having a small wedding. I couldn't afford to get married in WDW with my family because most couldn't afford the trip. So we are spending most of our money saved for the honeymoon. Since we booked we've asked family and friends to give us Disney gift cards for Christmas, Birthdays, Graduation and have collected some helpful funds towards our honeymoon.

So I was all excited about registering with Disney. But then they told me they were changing the website. And then they kept extending the date of launch. And now they changed their policy to include this 7% service charge and 3% credit card charge! Most of my guests will likely be contributing 25$ or less each. It's just rediculous. I don't even need the stuff they are offering, anouncements, wedding website...I have that stuff.

Another change, at least from what I can remember, the options you have to add to the registry are way less than they used to be. There are less individual experiences you can add to show your guests what you will be doing, or hoping to do on your trip.

Sorry Disney but, after careful consideration, I'm just going to send my guests a link to your gift card page. And on our wedding website I'll give everyone our itinerary so they can get excited for our trip.

Not impressed, and deffinately not worth the wait.

If they only pay into your account or by check, what do international couples do?

Can I use Disney's Honeymoon Registry if I am not in the US?
Yes, absolutely! All amounts will remain listed in US$. We ask that you use a PayPal account so that we can send you money in a timely manner. PayPal does have currency conversion. Please see the Pay Pal website for all details and service fee rates.

So is Honeyfund the best alternative to Honeymoonwishes that Disney uses?
