NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More.

So I purchased a $100 DGC getting the $10 TGC. But even though it said a 5% savings it came out to $95.50. This happen to anyone else? I have 2 Circle accounts and it happened on each account. I was able to make 2 purchases on one account and 1 on the other. But now I am getting an error on both accounts that their was an issue processing the payment.

Same for me online, only got 4.5% discount. Odd.

This was discussed when the offer was first released. The 5% is calculated off $90. They deduct the $10 GC incentive off the total.

@Jimsig

This has been discussed earlier on the thread.

They are giving you the 5% on the gift card which is being charged $90.
You are then getting charged for the $10 Target which the red card discount doesn't apply to.

So you are getting 5% but off of $90.
It just looks like 4.5% because you are buying that "free" gift card that can't be discounted.

Jinx 😉

For those that consolidate gift cards, I have a question.

If I transfer a balance from Card A to Card B and subsequently have an issue with card B, will I need to provide proof of transactions and recipts from Card A since the balance was transferred from there? Or just card B showing the transfer from Card A? If the former, I don't see any value in transferring the balance after a trip since I will need to hold on to all of the receipts anyway. Just use it and close it out. Otherwise I prolong the potential pain. If the latter, I'll always transfer to a new card when I get back so I no longer need to worry about providing support for the old one.

Once the balance is 0, ho long do you keep the old transactions and receipts for potential issues (aside from any reason to keep them for the actual trip expenses)? Immediately, or do you hang on for a little while? I've got a bunch of old cards and receipts I should probably clean up.

Thanks

I am going to assume the error processing the payment is probably a problem independent of the 4.5% issue.

As others have explained, Target is actually charging you in two transactions for what is truthfully only one transaction so that they don't have to pay out that 50 cents of cash back. Meaning, charging you first for a purchase of a $100 DGC minus a $10 Target GC (you'll see this appear as a "discount" on your invoice), and then giving you 5% CB only on the net $90. They will then re-charge you in a second, separate transaction for the $10 Target GC, meaning you have still paid the full $100 and the promo card is immediately loaded to your account to spend "again".

For the Target Circle deal, do you get a $10 Target gift card for each $100 that you spend (i.e. $100 in Target gift cards when purchasing $1000 in Disney gift cards)?
From my experience you must buy each in a separate transactions. $1000 in one transaction (if even doable) will net you only one $10 GC. I did 5 x $100 (a mix of Disney and others, but all part of the promo) and got 5 x $10 Target GCs loaded to my account almost immediately after each transaction went through.

Generally, I accumulate over 200 to 300 cards every year so I always consolidate them as there is no point to bring 20 $50 cards with me.

Well, I have never had a problem others have had to produce the receipts for all cards linked.

In order to consolidate my above example of 20 $50 cards you will have many links and this is why I notate that I transferred from card one to card two etc. and have the receipts notated for each location transaction number and date that they were purchased from just in case.

Once the balance is zero of all linked cards, you can then get rid of the receipts as long as you don’t anticipate any returns to the card or want to transfer to one again (plastic or card that plays nicely with Apple wallet comes to mind). I generally don’t keep the receipts but again write them down on the spreadsheet as receipt paper fades overtime.

I've never had an issue although reading your message maybe I should be more careful??

Once I've transferred to the new card, I erase records of the old one. I've found otherwise I'm not positive if I transferred it or not. I'm not sure what the old receipt would do for you though--you can prove you spent xx on a gift card, but then the documentation would show that it was emptied. Whether or not it shows where the funds I went, I don't think a receipt from an empty gift card would help much.

Thanks. I'm just trying to determine if the transfer means I no longer need to worry about the transactions and receipts from the card I transferred from. I would think so but thought I would check with the experts.

So if I had an issue with card B, and Disney gift card support services saw it had a transfer from card A, would it want me to confirm all the transactions on card A as well? In essence to prove that the balance transferred from card A was legitimate? I would think not, since it was done from their site to begin with and it would negate much of the value in transferring to begin with, but thought I'd confirm.

Holy moly, DVC dues went up by a lot this year - I need to buy more Disney Gift Cards 🤣
Yes! I had bought only $500 worth with the Target $10 GC offer, and I went back today and bought 5 more. Have to have enough $ left over for our December visit!
Are they on the DVC website already??
Yes, log in and click on Condo Association News, then on the annual meeting section. Or just look at the first post here - https://www.disboards.com/threads/dues-info-all-resorts-dues-have-been-released.3975244/

I paid off a play later 4 debt and it doesnt do that. What it does though is should free up access to that credit line to do another purchase for another round of risk savings (may take a few hrs).

Not posted yet, no one has them posted yet so this could all come crashing down real fast 😂 for everyone. Don't do anything your not willing to just eat it on...

I don't think that paying off early and freeing up your line of credit has anything to do with the offer coming back or not. In my paypal account, it says my credit limit is $1700. I made one purchase for $200 with the pay in 4 and now the pay in 4 is gone. So it doesn't seem to have anything to do with line of credit.

Anybody get their points posted to PayPal? Mine seemed to have disappeared from my $1250 transaction 🙄 A bit annoyed.

My physical $100 gift card shipped from Disney and my PayPal account now shows points pending for it.
Did they dissappear for a bit? I ordered $1200 e - cards and one $50 physical GC. The physical GC hasn’t shipped so I am hoping that’s why it’s kind of acting weird and will correct once it ships!

Unreal. There is nothing now that companies won't do to try and scheme the customer. Absolutely nothing. And I believe this is just the infancy stage of such greed.

Based on previous reports you would need to prove amounts that were loaded onto each card where they were purchased and when.
You don’t necessarily need to prove what was paid for on each card but the above is a must.

FWIW, I just had a giftcards.com 5% offer show up on one of my chase cards that wasn't there before with an 11/30 expiration date. In case the Disney cards go back on sale there or if there are others that people might be interested in, check your chase offers. Got it on one Disney card and not the other, so 🤷‍♂️

Just to be clear, if I transfer $ from card A to card B, leaving card A with 0 balance and no issues and then have a problem with card B, you believe I will need to show receipts for card A, even though it doesn't have an issue since I transferred $ form there to card A?

Not going to bother transferring then and just use up card A then. Don't need to have to be concerned with it as long as I have card B, which could be a while.

I realize these are worst case unlikely to happen scenarios, but I'd like to understand so I can make the best decisions.

Thanks again

Really? This has nothing to do with greed. The terms are clear they don’t provide discounts on target gift cards. Whenever Target provides a “free” gift card with purchase they always charge you face value of that and discount the purchase that qualified for it. The card has to be paid for at face value so that it can be properly tracked in the financial reporting as technically it is a liability on the books until it has been redeemed.
