NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More.

Has anyone that bought cards with their trial membership actually received them via email? I have not.

THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!! Gonna try to stack with my SYW 10% groceries if you spend $1k offer.
Sidenote- these DL gift cards crush my soul. They're so cute- but dang cardboard so I can't take them for using at Disney!

Dumb question…I just cancelled a resort reservation for Sept for which I used a gift card to pay the deposit. How do I receive that refund? I’ve kept a ton of used gift cards but do I need to check all of them now or does Disney just issue a Disney e-card?

The refund will go back to the original form of payment, IE whatever gift card was used.

For future reference, you want to keep a note somewhere (I like excel but a sticky on the card works, too) indicating which card you have used for which purchase for items like a room booking where a refund may be happening.

I'm less particular about non-refundable purchases (never getting that $7 back for that Mickey bar so who cares which card it went on) but definitely track larger purchases and anything that could refund later.

Absolutely, the note works so that if there is a refund coming I'll know where it's going but also so that I don't begin reloading that card with new funds because if they attempt to issue the refund and there isn't enough space on the card I'm not sure what occurs in that situation.

I'm curious what everyone's overall gift card strategy is.

I know not everyone is DVC, so buying a lot of GC to pay for the entire vacation package makes sense. In that case, hit up every deal you can!

But as someone who is DVC, I have my lodging paid for. I do still stockpile GCs throughout the year and keep them saved in a spreadsheet, because I know I can use them towards my dues (roughly $1,200/year) or for Park tickets. I also will use them towards a Disney Cruise, but we are likely 2-3 years away from going on one of those (waiting for my kids to get to specific ages).

We also don't go frequently enough for APs and likely won't ever try the "do two trips in 11-months" thing and then take a year off from AP.

So really, my GCs are just to pay for dues and pay for park tickets. I might consider having some extra to use as spending cash in the parks, but personally I just like to spend on my credit card for dining and merchandise as that helps me from overspending on needless things (lol) whereas I feel the park tickets are a needed purchase worth "stockpiling" for.

I just counted and so far this year I've already stockpiled roughly $1,100 in gift cards. Our next trip isn't until March '26. I'll keep buying to account for my expected dues payment as well as the expected cost for the adults and kids for our next trip--but I'm also a sucker for a good day, and if I keeping seeing 10-15% off, I'll probably keep buying. Call it the Disney savings fund!
I just try and get the best deals I can and stock up on them.
Unfortunately I've been lazy and need to restock the vault.
In addition to DVC Dues and APs/Park Tickets we use them for our Transient Taxes (VDH & AUL) souvenirs and dining.
We charge to our magicbands and then go the front desk to pay off our balance so we don't have to worry about carrying a card around with us in the park or if we split up who has the Gift Card?
We also store one in our notes app to copy and paste for mobile orders.
Not all Disney Restaurants code as restaurants and since I don't have an AMEX Gold to earn 4% so my dining gets 3% unless Chase or Discover is offering 5% that quarter so the 10%+ Savings from Gift cards ends up passing this especially when you factor in the extra earnings from your credit card when you buy it and or the store you buy from like extra fuel points.

The refund is going back on the card you used to make the deposit. You can call and request Disney re-issue it as a new gift card (idk e-card) but it will take time and is a process (although we haven't had a report in a while so if you try do report back). You don't have a receipt or something from when you made the purchase showing part of the gift card number? (And yeah, in the future make a note in your spreadsheet what card you're putting what deposits on). I make a note on my reservation copy as well because once you're at Disney if something goes wrong and a hotel needs to refund you they refund the gift cards used on the reservation.

Timeline I've seen lately is one day from cancellation to my DGCs getting refunded, used to take a few days.

I was curious about that as well. I know we can only load $1K to them but I wondered if they could load more.
Or if you cancelled a cruise per say would you have to get $1K refunded then move that to a different card and then tell them to issue the next $1k refund etc.

Thanks for reminding me about PayPal!!

I got the coupon as well and Chase had a promo on my CFU for 5% on PayPal purchases!! :)
Trying to decide whether it’s worth pulling the trigger on a BJ’s membership - are these deals / coupons as common as Sam’s? Our closest BJ’s is an hour away so it would be mostly for online deals and gift cards in particular.

Disney cannot load more than $1k on the cards no matter how much you've spent. If you have a refund that will process more than $1k back on a card they'll have to send the rest on separate gift cards. Another reason for good records, so that you never charge more than $1k worth of anything refundable to a single gift card.

My memory is so foggy but over Covid I had a convo with a phone CM to cancel out a reservation and she asked if it would cause the balance on my gc to go over $1k because their system wouldn't allow that. I did not as I prep for that so I didn't actually attempt it. I recall thinking it sounded like a hard coded limit so my guess is the refund would be denied and bounced back to Disney.

I had the $10 membership for online only (no longer available). That transitioned to regular membership at some point last year (without paying additional. When it was time to renew I didn’t feel like it was worth it just for Disney gift cards. So I didn’t renew. The other day, someone posted here about a $15 membership. That seems worth it. I only buy the GCs when I get a coupon and I feel like it happens often enough.

I have never needed a refund and hopefully never have to cancel a trip but good to know in case.
I have always just transferred to one card so my TA can just keep pasting the same card number into the system after I tell her more is on the card after transferring from the DGC site.

I have DVC but don’t visit often anymore. When I am ahead on my dues, I only buy when I can get more than the standard 5% I can get from target. Right now I have about half of next year’s dues paid at a discount of about 14%. I didn’t jump on the Newegg deal today since I am ahead of my game for next years dues. I was at work and busy so I didn’t try until late morning and they were sold out. Wasn’t a big deal since I am not desperate for cards right now.

In the past I would stockpile the cards and apply them when dues posted. But since Disney made changes to how gift cards can be applied to dues, I decided to apply them to next year’s dues as I get them. I have a credit balance now. I was never comfortable doing this in the past. This year, I am more nervous about stockpiling and then not being able to apply them when dues are due in January.

SAME! I try to aim for at least 10% off to stockpile for DVC dues, AP, and general park spending. Now that I have enough for next year, I'm switching my baseline to a discount closer to 15% to buy more thanks to the advice of the wonderful folks here :)

What I haven't done, is properly track them... so they are sitting in a drawer, or in my inbox for e-gift cards. I haven't confirmed balances and probably don't have receipts for most of them. I'm now inspired to go through and catalog them all and then as I use them, add them to the Disney site to track purchases and then just keep a running tab on how ever many we're allowed to keep (5? 6?).

Would love to know what details to put in a spreadsheet. I don't see myself adding expenses in there to keep track of active balances as that seems like a lot of work after each trip when Disney will do it automatically, but open to suggestions!

Ive never received a coupon for BJs since I signed up about 8 months ago. I am always disappointed haha.
