All of this “as a courtesy” is nonsense. As per their terms we are entitled to the reward. I was very adamant about this point when I did my chat and they did credit me. One of the CS reps actually thanked me when I told him “btw, third party GC’s count”.

I think it may only be a matter of time before that changes. Unfortunately, if glitches like these keep happening and Target keeps getting complaints about rewards not posting on 3rd party GCs, an easy solution for them will be to just amend the terms to exclude all kinds of GCs

That is why I didn't stress too much to them that third party cards weren't excluded...I'm afraid of the same thing. We've already lost RMN....

Exactly. You’re already saving 5% with a RedCard and we aren’t idiots. We know these promos were never meant to include gc as that math just doesn’t work for Target, they aren’t scoring DGCs at 15% off lol. I wish Target would leave the IT alone and just update the fine print to explicitly exclude them so people quit hammering customer service reps for their $10 already. (But knowing people they’d probably hammer customer service reps even if the fine print was updated forcing Target to take the IT step to shut it down ).

My Target circle bonus was $15 for $125 purchase. I ordered $125 Disney egift cards on Tuesday but never got credit. I tried chat today. First the rep told me my purchase didn't qualify because it was under $125 but if I contact them after the promotion ends they will give me a courtesy credit. I pointed out that the offer was on a $125 purchase BEFORE red card discount. Then he apologized and said I still need to wait until the promotion is over, gave me a reference number and assured me I will not need to repeat all the details when I contact them again. I'm skeptical, but I agreed to wait.

My husband has the same offer on his account but I'm not sure I want to bother trying it again. What a hassle.

No lol. I can't remember his name but it was only about 10 minutes and he seemed very nice.

My husband used his to purchase 120 in prepaid cellphone refill cards plus $15 in other assorted merchandise. His reward came through within minutes of the refill cards, no problem.

Yeah they will eventually shut it down. They really shut down their video game B2G1. Used to be if you got up at 3 am you could get some 1st party Switch games that fell through the exceptions (they’d usually fix it by later in the morning). But you’d get Slickdealers that would hammer CS that someone they knew got these games discounted. So now pretty much all Switch games are excluded.

Update 10/6/24: A lot of people wanted to buy gift cards at CVS to earn 7x. However, it seems that recently the CVS system is not allowing Visa gift cards and other gift cards to be purchased with Paypal. The system only allows the fee to be paid that way and leaves the main balance for another payment method. (AFAIK, you can still pay with a credit card directly, but that won’t help for the use case being discussed.) You can still use this idea to get 7x on regular purchases from CVS.

Grrr.

It should trigger it before the Red Card discount so a $100 DGC should work. People have had success the past couple days. Those of us who purchased Sunday and Monday did not and had to chat with customer service to get the bonus....YMMV.

Ugh, major stonewall by chat support at Target. The first person told me that I didn't get it because I didn't meet the spend criteria ($150) but I did prior to my RedCard discount. I got escalated to someone else who said that I did meet the spend but it wasn't eligible for gift cards. We went back and forth. I asked to be escalated elsewhere. He finally said that he would grant an "exception" but that they wouldn't do that until after the bonus expired. I gave up.

As I have posted before I got caught up in the Bonus not posting on the first couple days. I contacted chat and was told what others were and to contact them back after it ended to get it credited. I was given a reference number so I would not have to repeat the issue to chat. Contacted them today and even thought I had given them the reference number they asked me to repeat the issue. I was told it would show up in one to two days and I thanked him. The chat then showed I was waiting for another chat rep but was never told I was being transferred. I was then asked to repeat the issue again even though I had given the new rep the reference number. I was then asked if the purchase was for the 'Mickey Gift Cards." Felt like the she must have been a Disney fan and she said she would check with her supervisors. I told her I was already approved for it, but it was ignored. When she got back to me I was then told that DGC's didn't qualify. I asked her why as I was already approved and was told twice I would be getting the bonus? She would not answer my question or even apologize for being told that. She only said there were no other options. I again asked why I was told I had already qualified and would get the bonus and she again ignored the question I had asked and disconnected the chat without answering my question.
