New crowd level predictions by UG

I just went to the Unofficial Guide site to re-check the days we are considering for our next trip and YIKES! The best days section with all the crowd level predictions has been revised and it looks like there are no days ever under a 4!

I had the same shock. We are going at the end of August and we went from days that were a 5 and 4 to days that are a 7 & 6. Given that most of the southern schools have started then it didn't make much sense but we will see when we get there.

When are you thinking about going?? Much as I love the IG I have always felt they were a little off on the crowd predictions. With all the special things that WDW has year round, like the F&W fest and such, there is really not much "slow" time anymore IMO. Also, if these boards are any indication, most people have no problem taking kids out of school to go to WDW so going during school really doesn't mean less crowds at all.

Anyone else notice that the lowest rank is 4? There are no days ranked 1-3 on the current list, even early December or January, which are typically "slower" times.

This is not looking good for me. All of my dates for next March are all 7 and 8's. Oh well...I'm still planning on going. Thanks again michaelwilliammidd!

When we went the first week of December last year, it was a dream! The parks were so empty! I wish I could go again that time this year. I wonder what the rating was for the 1st week of December last year?

We have gone the week leading up to Christmas the last 2 years and it's been great the first part of the week then of course starting to get packed as you get toward Christmas day. This year we are going to try to go 11/27-12/3....I am hoping for minimal crowds as thats what I have heard it's like during this time....is that what you who have gone this time of year have experienced? Thanks for the help.

I don't know, I think there are still slow times to go. Maybe not AS slow as in past years, but there are definitely times that are much slower than others. We went in early December 2004 and I'd say the crowds were about a 3 and then I went again in early May of this year and the crowds were probably a 4 or maybe a 5 at times. The UG predicted 7 crowds for our May trip, they were way off.

Also, if these boards are any indication, most people have no problem taking kids out of school to go to WDW so going during school really doesn't mean less crowds at all.

I don't know if you can go by the Disboards on this, I know alot of people on the boards are willing to take their kid's out of school, but most people I talk to off the boards say they wouldn't do it.

Well they say that part of their formula is the resorts room occupancy. I have heard this whole year that the resorts have been booked up like crazy. Maybe MYW is really filling the resorts and that in turn is influencing the formula they use for crowd predictions.

We were very frightened, both in February and in May by the figures. We did not find them to be correct on the days we went. The good part was we were prepared, and very happy to not have the waits stated. I'm thinking people were scared off, when they read them LOL!

A friend of mine from WBL, MN and I are taking a "Girls Only" trip in early/mid September. I think that zulaya got it right -- the MYW package was just way too good to pass up! We already had reservations for that time, but the MYW definitely cinched the deal!

WOW - what is with the 10's for a stretch in late March 06? Is this a peak Spring Break period, or am I missing something much more significant?

DH and I have AP's that expire on Easter next year, and we obviously plan to travel earlier to beat those crowds. I was thinking mid to late March - but not if crowds are going to be horrendous! Anyone have an idea?

Well obviously they are only estimates. I was noticed our trip from May 20-28th was a "4" until I think Thursday of last week and it sure seemed busier. I think the "off-times" are a thing of the past.

Has anyone used the UG to plan their trip? I hear a lot of people do the "avoid EMH days", or "DO EMH days", but I havent read about someone following UG's reccomendations of best parks. Has anyone tried it, did it work?
