It is very difficult these days to get a room at CR since that is where all the SOG patrons are staying until their resort's refurbishment is complete. So CR is probably already booked.
Also, Disney WOULD rather have everyone pay rack rate for their rooms, but when the rooms aren't selling, that's when they release the codes, so it is possible that you may not be able to apply the code to your existing reservation, but I would still definitely try!
