New code watch - October/November

If a guest makes any type of reservation and wishes to apply a discount at a later time, the
discount is not guaranteed.

There are no automatic or guaranteed conversion to
discounts on reservations once made. Special offers are
offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability.

!

you got this in writing, huh? when the BEst Rate program first came out, there was a huge, long thread about what, exactly, the "best rate" meant...it sounded like, over and over, CMs assured those of us calling that if an AP discount was offered, the discount would automatically be applied to those in the best rate program (because otherwise, it WOULDN'T be the "best" rate). so it sounds like they told you that this was the "best" rate available at the time of the booking? oh dear.

anyone else hear anything else lately?

i'm calling today to make sure all of our ressies are correct (amazing how they can continue to mix up 6 adults in 3 rooms!), but i'll ask AGAIN about applying the AP discount to our best rate reservations (we've got 2 rooms in best rate program and 1 currently with AAA discount and hoping to apply AP discount).....

Spoke to a CM last night and we got chatting and her take was definately not IF AP rates come out but a case of WHEN, although she didn't confirm they were coming out this week, she was in no doubt we'd see discounts for AP holders past 10/4

Thanks for giving me hope!! :wave2:

Just a quick question for those of you waiting for the next round of AP rates...Do you have your AP's yet? I am planning on getting my next AP when I go down this November. With the Disney store no longer selling them, I don't have mine yet. Do you think that a voucher number will be required to make a phone ressie this time around? I've never been asked for a number in the past, but with the Best Rate program, one never knows... :confused3

There has been $49 & $55... but for the $59 it isn't really worth not getting anything.. my delemia is if I want to book for $59, but may have to upgrade to one that sleeps 5 (PO-R).... I don't want to have to pay a fee to switch resorts, especially when I would be "upgrading" :confused3

So far, they have been waiving the $50 fee *if* your changed ressie results in more cost - in other words, if you do change from value to moderate, there shouldn't be any fee because you're spending more $$.

There has been 49 and 55 a night but that was last year. Nothing lower than 59 this year at all. I wouldn't hold my breath on seeing anything lower than 59/night for this year :)

I am in too. We are DCL cruising over Thanksgiving (19th - 26th) and then staying at WL (concierge) so I am looking for a AP rate for Nov 26th - 29th.

Hopefully the come out soon.

I've gotten $59 many times with my AP. The $49 rate I've only gotten with a postcard.

Trying to decide if an AP is worth it for Nov, 24 - Dec. 4. Has anyone gotten the $59 rate for those dates? I think I will be about even with that rate. Thanks!

Your dates are over 2 "seasons" so you should book 2 reservations. One for regular season 11/24 - 11/26. The best you could probably hope for then is $74/night and then the rest at the $59/night if they offer AP's for those time periods.

Have you considered purchasing the Disney Dining Experience card if you get an AP. It costs $50 for an annual membership but gets you 20% off most sit down places and because the value resorts don't have table service you can get 20% off those counter service foodcourts. With your 11 day trip I would think that you'd get your $50 back pretty quick!

The best rate program is only available for online bookings w/AP's. You have to have an AP or a voucher. The voucher situation is tricky, but I do remember hearing people explain how they used vouchers to get best rate...in fact, mousesavers even explained it on their site.

I don't know. I am an Annual Passholder and everytime I login and click on the Best Rate link it winds up taking forever and eventually doing nothing. Maybe one day it will work.

I will be there over those dates Nov 30-Dec 9. I did a 10 day last year so the AP was great for us. We were at a park every day and night!

I did get 59/night at POP using the best rate, its still there now too! And yes consider the Disney Dining Experience card as well.

I really need to cancel our Thanksgiving week reservations. I've had them for almost a year, but I need to face reality that we aren't going. I bought an AP for the room discount and was sure that when we were in WDW earlier this summer, everyone would upgrade to APs. But DH's attitute is that now we've "done" WDW and never need to go back. I keep hoping that there will be some great deal so we'll just HAVE to go, but at some point I need to face facts and cancel. :sad2:

Has anyone heard when the next batch of AP rates will be out? We are looking for the end of October.

Minnie -
They are out through the best rate program for booking online. I am not sure if you are within the 120 day window or not yet. You have to book 120 or more out for the best rate program.

As for call in rates, they say they will have them but nothing is out yet and didn't come out last year until the end of August.

subscribing....but also wanted to say - Missypie - go w/o dh! My DHwas a big pip when we went in May, did nothing but moan and complainabout the heat, the lines, the walking bla bla bla.
He complained more than all 4 of our kids combined. I fully intend to let him sit it out next time. He won't like it - but I would rather allow the kids to enjoy themselves.
