I know when I called and talked to the CRO they told me the lower rate would automatically be applied to those who were in the best rate program. I also know I have read many posts of those who first used the program calling CRO and that they were told the bugs were still being worked out but that the lower rate should be applied to those reservations on the Best Rate Program.
So, I figure that I might as well send a follow up communication to them using the response they sent, to you, cyham (Cheryl) and see how they respond to that ....
Here is what I emailed to them tonight...I will let you know what they say ...
I am writing about your Best Rate Program. After reading all your literature, reading the website, talking with a CM, I made the decision to go ahead and have the
travel agent book the best rate program. It was my understanding, from your info and your CRO, that I was booking the current discounted rate. And, if a lower AP rate were to be offered, that those booked in the best rate program would first have that rate applied to their reservation (since it was suppose to be the best AP rate out there) and then if there were any additional AP rates left those who had not booked the best rate program could then secure those. I am now hearing that some online communicaitons that Disney is sending back is sending what could be interpreted as conflicting information to what I was told and others have also been told. I will include this correspondence, in its entirity, at the end of my email, for your information. Specifically, this is the portion of the email from Disney that distrubed me......
" There are no automatic or guaranteed conversion to
discounts on reservations once made. Special offers are
offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability"
Here is my question ... why would I use the best rate program with a non-refundable, non-changeable reservation if you, disney, were going to offer lower discounts after 120 days? Wouldn't make much sense for me to use this program when I can, instead, book the normal CRO way and have a 5 day fully refundable reservation and/or a package reservation with a 45 day out full refund.... and then when a cheaper rate came out apply it to that reservation.
I understand that lower rates are always on a first-come first serve basis ... the reason, as I understood it for the best rate program was to ensure that by booking so far out we would be the first to have the lower AP rate applied to our rates...but from this recent communiations from your online CM I am reading that is not the case.
Here is the question:
If there is a lower AP rate offered for the dates of my stay will that lower rate be applied to my reservation under the AP best rate program? That is the bottomline question. I would appreciate it if you could clear this up for many of us who are so very confused.
Following is the correspondence from one of the Disney ON-line CM...
